If you watch SAO ep..... nine or ten you can see Asuna just beats some guy I don't know how to spell his name but he uses her rapier and she just stabs and her rapier is suppose to be VERY VERY fast. Just watch the episode.
To be fair, their assessment that Rapiers are stabling weapons alone is fairly debunked. Rapiers have as many variations as any other kind of sword, and were often made to user preference. Historically, Rapiers are not lighter, they have varied blades (including ones capable and used for slashing) and they were, buy in large, not flimsy.

To be fair, their assessment that Rapiers are stabling weapons alone is fairly debunked. Rapiers have as many variations as any other kind of sword, and were often made to user preference. Historically, Rapiers are not lighter, they have varied blades (including ones capable and used for slashing) and they were, buy in large, not flimsy.
