Very true.
It was weird, I saw him and Markéta in Once and it took me years to discover that they actually had a real band together, loved all that.
Then I discovered his solo career and all his amazing live performances, and lately him playing Shane Mcgowans funeral.
I just love his music.

be prepared for a long and pleasant run :) ... I discovered Glen Hansard about 11 years ago, when I first heard his album Rythm and Repose ... not a week goes by without his music for me since then and I never get tired of it :)
Watch the movie Once, which won the Oscar for Best Original Song. He stars in it and plays all of his original music. Phenomenal film.
I’ll second the comment to watch the movie “Once.” The director is also a musician and did two other super music-based movies: Begin Again and Sing Street. Check those out as well for more amazing music!

How nice to find your comments. I drove from Montana to be there in Portland to see them live for the first time. So thankful for the unique soulfulness of each of them, but when they sang together live it was beyond description. I feel grateful they made that trip to our corner of the globe, so that so many of us could make that live connection

I saw Glen this past summer in Salt Lake City. He was amazing. Since the first time I ever heard "The Song of Good Hope, he has been my favorite. My wife was terminal with cancer at the time and that song got us through to the end. "His new album is going to be great. I've pre-ordered two vinyl copies and a CD. Thank you, Mr. Kimmel for hosting this incredible artist.
The first time i saw Glen Hansard perform was when he opened for Bob Dylan in Nowlan park in 2001. My dad got two free tickets. And it's one of my all time best memories. ❤

Glen has to have one of the best musical journeys of all time, starring in The Commitments, befriending Jeff Buckley, busking on the streets of Dublin, winning an Oscar, yet he's always retained that focus and love of music.

Glen is another artist that deserves to be better known all over the world. He is big in Ireland and Europe. But doesn't get the exposure in America that he should. Another case of the best vocalist in the world not being heard because record labels don't think they can make money off of them. Beth Hart is another artist that has been treated the same way. Thank god we have YT or we in the states may not have ever heard them. Sad what a lose to music that greed can cause.
