Leverkusen was the best team in the world in 2002. It's incredible they didnt win anything. In the CL-final they dominated Real almost totally but when young Iker Casillas came in, he took some impossible saves. And then there was the Zidane magic. It's fantastic to see that now in 2024 22 years after 2002 Leverkusen again has a team, which plays a hyper attractive football. Hopefully the nickname "Neverkusen" is forgotten after 2024. That 2002 team was incredible, only the midfield of Ballack, ze Roberto, Schneider and Bastürk was magical.
He was a really world class player in his Ajax days. He would be even greater if it wasn't for injuries, but this is football. Many careers got destroyed by injuries.
