Hello, everybody welcomes back to Colter and Zaves awesome adventures in finding gold! I had a subscriber comment that there are not many as many youtube videos on finding gold in Idaho. So that is what I thought I would do. I found Prospector Jesse's video and want to pick up where he left off. Today I will be talking about southern Idaho and the Snake River canyon. First, I will be going over some basic geology in the area and talk about the Yellowstone hotspot that has been bringing the gold to the surface. Then I will speak of the great Bonneville flood, another great event that riped a gouge through the Snake River Plane and left giant piles of gravel in its path. We will look at google earth at a place where these events cross paths, and finally, we will visit the location and take a few samples.

Nice video! If you are in boise, the Idaho gold prospectors association has a meeting April 13th. You could definitely sell a few of those magnetic drill attachments...super cool. Hopefully I can pick your brain, I go to a local claim near Centreville (miss lucy), getting a little bored of that spot and would love to venture out. Anyways, great vid, keep them coming

Great video. I was wondering where you got your map information? I've been trying to find the information or the program that shows where the mines were, the formations, the contacts, who owns the land, etc. I saw one video where the guy used google earth, but some kind of layer that showed that information. Where do I find that? Thanks!

Nice gold recovery. I was just wondering is that place Public Access or do you have to have a claim there? In Washington I had a really good spot I could go to and find tiny nuggets and some fine gold. But here in Idaho I'm new to this area. This gives me ideas on where to go. Would love to find a public access area I could go to. Cuz I don't have a claim yet.

Good job. Snake river gold is very fine. Go to home Depot get a plastic wash tub works better when panning. I'm 6 generation Idaho and Oregon territory. First we're you were has already been dredged that river is loaded. But it's so fine. Milner and perine had a dredge in late 1800s. Blue lakes golf course is it's tailings all the canal's in twinfalls dug by milner not corps of engineers. Or blm. That's minidoka. Milner was totally private. And milner dam. I know. I built the new one. Now gold is my hobby. Bonanza bar was a town and gold strike. Across from Coldwater just downstream from massacre rocks. You can see were the dredge first dug into raft river then proceeded through Gifford springs. All the islands in river. Are tailings from 3 bucket dredges. Pard. They only recovered 08% of what they had on their tables. 92%went right back in the river. They would use potato sacks and coat them with mercury. The gold perine got built twinfalls the gold milner got fed the farms. And you forgot evil kenivel he tried to jump the river were your at. And get a little drege. And go up to power house below milner the boil holes. Suck them out. You'll get mason jars full. The water bored holes in the basalt. I tell you all this so you can get you some. My days are numbered now. But this has been my hobby for 50 years I'm 64. Go have fun. And beware. That rivers loaded with platinum big vein of it in the wapi flow. Sheepherders used to bring in pie pan size chunks of it. I know my valley history. I was taught it by original settlers

@@charlesuhl7430 Glenn's ferry I'm not sure of. How far the fine gold goes down. But one way to find out is go to the river and pann some. Remember it's very fine. Use your jet dry in your panning tub. Go slow. Fine gold is not chunky gold. It's better to work alot of sand over a shaker table. Mount Baker mining has videos and "ask Jeff Williams" is a very good source on learning this hobby. Both have a great free library on you tube. And gold is everywhere you just have to know what your looking for. Good luck. And have fun. Who knows. You may strike it rich. And always respect the land. Don't leave holes.
