I started doing a low residue diet after seeing this video and it has helpt me with my Tenesmus(Tenesmus is a constant feeling that you have to go to the bathroom, but you can’t. Even if you’ve just emptied your bowels.
Severe inflammation that irritates the nerves involved in pooping is often the cause. Your nerves overreact, telling your muscles that you constantly have to go.
To the point of. Spasms, severe pain and inflammation).
I love you're approch Doctor Chung.
I am still eliminating foods it will take a while to regonize and keeping a food dairy helps a lot.
Write down what you eat during the day and write it down the next day.
    Really quite easy to do.

So good to hear a Dr saying eat less fiber... In the beginning of my fissure journey 5 months ago I tried eating loads of fiber because that's what all the Drs told me to do. I kept thinking it makes no sense... After hurting myself even more because of these recommendations I tried to just listen to my body.... I eat less fiber and try to eat smaller portions and more balanced meals with fat, carbohydrates and protein.... I'm starting to feel better... I'm not healed but I'm better than before that's for sure.

How is everything going with your fissure? I experience the some problem for over a year now, but my Dr sais my fissure is starting to heal. I started to drink alot of bone broth and I think this helped alot. Also I'm trying to eat more animal fats, because I was plant based the last couple of years and I think this is what caused the fissure, as I have never had problem with constipation. I think it was all the raw vegetables and smoothies. Hope this helps😊 Also my Dr recommended alot of fruits and vegetables but I did the exact opposite, as I was eating mostly that and I somehow got the fissure. So, I don't think fiber is the answer

Switching to GF to see if that helps and knock him down to one piece of toast in the morning instead of two, sandwiches a few days a week instead of 4 or 5. It's a hard switch.

Calcium &, popcorn always constipates me. Bojangles 98% of the time helps. I know you talk about Miralax but for me it takes over a day to work and then it doesn't work that good. I've had issues with constipation all of my life (I'm 69) Finally someone is talking about this problem. I worked for a gastro dr. for 26 years. When this proplem is really bad, I'll use the Miralax prep for colonscopy patients.

Regarding water intake, I drink a lot of water, as I dehydrate easily. But I have noticed that even though I hydrate very well, it does not seem to help with hard stool; instead, I simply pee a lot more. What seems to help is eating more vegetables, as I think that the water that is present in them SLOWLY disperses in my colon and helps (I trust the fiber helps too). When I eat water-packed vegetables, my system works better.

I recommend eating water & fibre rich foods a lot. Sometimes I eat several sticks of celery for breakfast with a tablespoon of cheese-spread sprinkled with herbs or spices to dip them in. If you want something sweet you could try watermelon.
I realise a lot of fibre is not right for everyone but take it easy with the low-residue diet unless you have things that clearly point to that being the right direction for you. I had to do a low residue diet for another reason & it resulted in my insides being clogged up with a heavy clay-like substance.

The reason why constipation is harder poop is because the poop sits in your colon longer and the inevitable water stealing happens. People think the poop is hard so it doesn't pass. It's actually the opposite. It gets hard because it's in the colon too long and loses too much water and then it doesn't pass easy. Ugh.

      Interesting!
I think it depends on your case and your body. I find that poop moves relatively slow in my intestines, and when it takes too long, my body absorbs so much water from it that it get hard... so the the bulking effect helps move it along a bit faster so it's not as dry by the time I go to the bathroom (yes, I also need to make sure to drink a lot)...
By the way: white rice, white bread and pasta are good examples of low res. food. Not much nutritional value (and can't go on their own), but they can easily bulk up a meal for you

@MyShockingStunningChannel, What about taken some Magnesium 400-500mg a day (citrate/oxide) and a table spoon (or 2, depends) of extra olive oil before going to sleep or as soon as you get up or one table spoon before going to sleep and another table spoon as soon as you get up. I hope this helps.

I’ve been experimenting with fiber amounts for a few years now, and lower fiber is better. I really appreciate your thoughts, thank you. 🙂 For anyone else who reads my comments…….let me just say that lower fiber is better and with higher fats in your foods and perhaps a diet FREE of crappy yucky overly processed foods……..

@@BiscayneBeast just saw your comment.. sorry for answering so late….for me, 10-12 fiber a day is enough. I found the paleo and higher fat diet. I read that fat triggers the bile and bile stimulates the colon……the way it’s been intended. Yiu do your own research but for me, hi fat, low carb, moderation of protein…and no junk. 🙂

How many days can you go without taking a dump? Before I should seek help? I'm regular till I run out of Metamucil, then I got problems. I've had problems since about forth grade I'm 55 now, I had a pre rectal abscess the size of a golf ball. The doc asked if he could bring people in to watch, I was bent over holding handle bars with 30 interns, he cut the ball went inside scraped out drained, and gave me 4 stitches that was the most pain in my entire life. Beef and milk are my biggest problem

I take a shot of 2 tablespoons Apple cider vinegar diluted in water in the morning when nothing else has worked and it usually stimulates movement. It’s funny because I started this with some generic store brand ACV and then I took some advice from health coaches and bought a name brand with “the mother”. I started using that and it wasn’t working like it had been. I just thought maybe the ACV. Working before was a fluke and that it was not as consistent as I thought but then I remembered how well the generic one had worked before so I started trying that one again and what do you know? Works like a charm 🤔 my problem isn’t necessarily the stuck “hard” type it’s more of a motility thing
