Great video. There’s almost no videos on exhaust mods for the N20 so it’s good to have this one. Might delete my resonator based on this now. I had my 20i remapped and it totally transformed the car so if you haven’t had it done you should definitely look into it!
I really like how it sounds inside the car in sport mode. As you can imagine, it's a little exaggerated on video since the camera is so close to the muffler, but perfect in the car. I'm very interested in getting it remapped. How did you do it?
SimpleCarGuy I live in the UK so went to Celtic Tuning who were highly recommended for their ECU maps. There’s a few Z4 Forums online so take a look and see who people are recommending on them. My remap took my car from 181bhp to 280bhp and 199lb/ft torque to 290 lb/ft. It feels like a different car now.
@@jjd8616 was that one map for a 20i? crazy thats more power than my stock 28i. Going off that, they should be able to get the 28i to do over 300hp and 350lb/ft thats insane if true
Absolutely agree! Of course it is a little exaggerated on video since it's so close. Driving inside the car with the roof down is exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks for posting this, it clear out all my doubts and I did that too on my z4 e89 28i. TOTALLY worth it. now the car can be quiet in standard traffic situations, but when you press the gas you can finally hear it. keep it up with the nice work !
Thanks for making this vid. I’ve had my n20 Z4 for 2.5 years and never really found any informative videos online for modifications. Looking forward to your future Z4 videos!
Glad you liked it! I'm looking for mod ideas myself, have a few items in mind but it might be a bit before I post them. If you're interested in visual mods, I have a video on that!
Great video, very informative as always I actually love the new sound as you say not too loud but needed as stock a little tame! Looking at doing it in mine very soon thanks 😊👍🏽
I have an n20 motor in my f30 but I don't think I will get as many pops as you do but I think I will start with resonator delete and then get a sport muffler later on if the resonator is not enough.
I wished you added quad exhaust tips on the n20. I wanted to see how it would sound like. I have the exact color as yours but mines is the M sport model with the m bumpers. Looking to do the quad tips
I got it from here, but it was on sale for $155. I would suggest shopping around. www.turnermotorsport.com/p-184379-e89-z4-28i-supersprint-section-1-straight-pipe/
Sounds like crap, I’ve heard a F30 328i with quad tips straight piped and when he floored it it did not sound good at all, Like a mix of Honda and tractor.
Great video ! Have you thought of replacing the downpipe ? Here is a link ...www.vr-speed.com/vrsf-n20-race-downpipe-for-2011-bmw-z4-sdrive28i-e89.html
As I mentioned, it's definitely not for everyone, but that's why I put a video about it. This way people can decide for themselves without having to spend the money like I did.

You certainly got a big increase and no need to go further... For me that is more than enough...

You need to remap this car. Did mine and it was a game changer
Would love to, but don't really know where to start. Recommendations?

Hi
What Size Y shape pipe did you use mate?
Excellent video... informative, straight to the point, no time wasting

Maybe you can do a video. How you deactivate the Valve by removing the plug in the trunk.
I did that on my car, all you have to do it unplug the vacuum line under the bumper on the side of the muffler.
Hello
I am trying to delete the mid silencer off of my e89 2.5, what size Y shape pipe do I need ?
Regards
Sounds great....good change this is perfect
Where did you buy the product? Can you send me the link please
Ist der Auspuff kaputt?
I’m definitely going to do this on my 13” x3 28i xdrive. Hopefully it sounds just like yours lol I live in Illinois too man, shouts out from the chi!
Yeah, makes a pretty good difference! Also, check out one of my latest videos for a full cat-back exhaust on this car, it sounds even better!
hi give me the link where to buy the exhaust muffler pipe? thank you

SimpleCarGuy ok thanks
Any opinions on changing the resonator to something aftermarket instead of deleting it?
I think 2 companies make a sport resonator, probably sounds pretty good, but I haven't tried it.
Has anyone just deleted the muffler on the 4-cylinder engine model? If so, how'd it sound? Any drone?
Sounds like crap, I’ve heard a F30 328i with quad tips straight piped and when he floored it it did not sound good at all, Like a mix of Honda and tractor.
Will be the same if I mod at n52 z4?
Probably sound better since it’s a straight six without a turbo.
Any HP gains after that?
Don’t have any way of measure, but the car feels exactly the same.
@@SimpleCarGuy did you have any lights on the dash?
No lights and no codes

What year is that z4?
It's a 2012 model year.
Is straight pipe?
No, I only 'straight piped' the resonator. The car still has a stock muffler and catalytic converter.
Did this effect ur gas mileage?
Not that I could notice, but honestly I don't normally pay too much attention to that.
Pops n crackles excellent, sound nooooo in uk it sounds like all the damn awful souped up diesels with young chavs at the wheel .
I have replaced the muffler with a sport muffler after, sounds better no! Check out the video on my channel!
I like the sound. it sounds like a stock Porsche 911
Check out my latest video where it's full on cat-back super sprint exhaust, sounds even better!
3:32 thank me later
Much prefer the original tone, the way it was designed to sound.
Definitely up to a preference, I might look for sales on a sport muffler and see how that sounds.

Thanks! I thought about it, but I can't really do it as we have emission tests in my state and I would have to put the original one back in to pass.
