My Second Cubing Competition Ever - Leuven Open 2024

- Last April I went to a cubing competition, it was my second time competing in 3x3 (normal Rubik’s cube) and my first time in 2x2 and pyraminx. My main goals were to beat my previous times (ao5 35.78, single 33.34), and get a sub-10 average for 2x2.
As you can see by these times I am not even close to podium times, but you don’t need to be extremely fast in order to go to a cubing comp. The primary purpose is to beat yourself and to *have fun*! Perhaps this video can convince those thinking they are ‘too slow’ to go out and be a part of this beautiful community.
I was too much of a wuss to film anything during my first comp last year, so this is the first vlog you’ll get 🤷♀️.
*Cubes and methods used*
3x3: X-man Tornado V3 Flagship --- Roux (2-look CMLL)
2x2: GAN 251M Pro --- Ortega
Pyraminx: Moyu Weilong Magnetic Pyraminx --- LBL 🥲

Did you ever go to a competition? If so, what was the latest one and did you acquire your goals? 🧐
I went to 7, last one was more than half a year ago... but i tied my 8.86 pr then))
May last Comp was 2nd-3rd of march this year and I got a 6.49 pyraminx average PR and a 13.59 PR 3x3 single and a 3.57 2x2 single
yes, my last one was Leuven Open 2024 👀
i did tried going for a 15s 3x3 avrg but miserably failed ._.
other events went well, except megaminx lmao i DNF'd cuz of inspection
I am going to one tomorrow wish me luck
@@CrazyCuber224 I hope your comp is going/went well :)
Glad the RUclips algorithm showed me this video! New subscriber here too!
i love your video! subscribed immediately :DD i love to see female speedcuber content creator representation 🤧 CONGRATS ON UR COMPETITION PRS!! cheers to many more
That E turn uperm is pretty cool ngl!
Nice video! Congrats on 200 subs, keep it up!
For the dots case, you could just do m2 u2 m2. Its easier.
This was such a fun and cute video! I loved the little handwritten annotations and the voice over on the solves. And it's really interesting to see a beginner who started with roux, I'm looking forward to seeing how your progression goes. I hope you keep uploading more videos, your style could seriously do well with some more time :)
PS 5x5 is my personal favourite event I hope you enjoy the journey too with your new meilong :)
Thank you for your kind words! I haven’t tried the Meilong yet but 5x5 seems like a great event. I’m curious to see how Roux will go on such a big cube, if the M-slices are too cumbersome I might have to challenge myself to learn CFOP this summer just for bigger cubes xD
This is gonna be the next best Cubing channel
A new cute cuber, you use roux method, your finger trick is so strange, but your video is so good, i think the subscribers will be increased
Nice video ! keep going :)
hey.. nice vid i like ur channel and you remind me of myself lol
I was there too, today i also had one in Breda
🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥
cool
i use the meilong 5m too, i average like 1.50-2.20 xd
Not judging, but why did you start with the roux method?
Looking forward to seeing you progress
I did some research after learning beginner’s on what advanced methods there are and how they work, and tried both beginner CFOP and Roux. Personally I just liked Roux a lot, eg. the blockbuilding and M-U-spam are fun to me.
Good job! Nice video
Also what inspired you to learn roux?
After the beginner method (mine already had some OLL and PLL algs) I looked into the next steps. I did some research and compared Roux to CFOP. Tried a beginner version of Roux and decided it was more my style
@@WobblyCube thats cool, keep it up!
very good video!!! subbed :) btw, i use cfop (2-look, but im learning 1-look), and my PB is 21.34!! i was very lucky with that, my PB average is 27.87 :) in 2x2 my PB is 2.54 and average 6.89 (using ortega too)
Thank you! Those are some nice times, I wish you the best with learning 1-look. It is a lot of work but will be very much worth it. Since the competition I managed to get sub-30 with a non-official single of 21.33, but I’m still inconsistent.
@@WobblyCube It takes a long time to get good at this hobby 😅 But if we keep practicing it, we will get better! I also wish you the best with your solves! :D
And, heyyyy yesterday i could of sworn that you had 50+ subs, now you have almost 100!!
Yeah I don’t know what happened, I woke up, checked YT and BAM xD
yooo, very nice video!! i advise you to learn how to do more events because comps are 10x more fun when you do more stuff ;)
also i was there lol, didnt make it into rhe video tho
congrats on your PRs!!
They are indeed! Next goals are learning 4x4, 5x5 and blind. I know mega too but was still too slow for this comp.
@@WobblyCube blind is very fun, it is very hard at the start but if you practice very much it is 100% worth it
What method do you use?
For 3x3 I use Roux, using 2-look CMLL (CMLL is the alg set for the corners of the last layer). For 2x2 I use Ortega and LBL (beginner) for pyra.
@@WobblyCube That's good! I use CFOP and I'm sub-15. Actually, I never saw someone use the roux method, that's my first time because I was very surprised.
How long have you been playing rubik cube
I started April 2023, so a bit over a year ago :)
However I didn’t cube continuously since then, as I also have my studies and other hobbies
@@WobblyCube I started when i was about 10 years old, I was born in 2008 :)), i am sub 10
you wanna collab with me by any chance?
The coming two months I have a tight schedule, and I don’t feel comfortable enough yet to involve other people. Although I do appreciate the offer and would like to rethink my answer in the future
You are so cute!
what do you use to edit your videos? iMovie?
For my videos published this year I’ve been using Final Cut Pro on iPad. However I have a free trial which will end soon. I plan to give DaVinci Resolve, which is free, a try before deciding to continue with Final Cut or not. For my older videos (nearly a year ago) I used Microsoft Clipchamp which was also free.
