This is so wonderful! I've never seen Kate Atkinson talk about her work before so I love the insight she gives into writing. It's so interesting how she's often thinking ahead to the next book. When she was talking about dark humour it reminded me of how Muriel Spark also does that so well. Can't wait till I get to reading Transcription. I'll have to rewatch this after I know the story better. Great job Simon! Thanks for this and what an amazing setting in front of that beautiful book.
Was hooked to Kate Atkinson’s amazing books when I read “Behind the scenes at the museum” what seems like eons ago. Really enjoyed hearing her talk about her writing which I have avidly devoured over the years.
That was really good. I've read most of Kate Atkinson's novels.Transcription was great, really enjoyed that. Favourites are still Behind The Scenes At the Museum and A God in Ruins (which made me sob at the end). Wonderful writer.
Lovely interview Simon cosy and chatty and informative. Kate is lovely I've read all her books love them but Jackson Brodie is my favourite character look forward to her new book ❤
Thank you for this! Yay for a new Jackson Brodie and double yay that Reggie is returning! WWTBGN? was my first Atkinson and always will be my favorite!
Simon I love your author interviews and this one is fabulous 👏👏👏 I've not read any Kate Atkinson but I've got Transcription on my tbr pile - it sounds just like my cup of tea. Kate talking about her writing process was fascinating. And you need to make plastic flamingo croquet happen 😹😹😹
I have not read any Kate Atkinson but she seems like such a wonderful lady ♥️ I need to pick up Life after Life , then A God in ruins ♥️ Loved interview ... You just seem so relaxed and it looked like such a nice chatter between friends but with perfectly placed questions 😉 Brilliant ♥️
When I found out you were interviewing her, that was the final push to get me to FINALLY pick up an Atkinson book... so of course I started with Life After Life...just finished it yesterday and I absolutely loved it! So happy I get to watch the interview now :)
Lovely interview! Kate Atkinson is ever more fascinating than I had anticipated and you really seem to have a good time. I have to read more of her work for sure.
I'm glad you said it was ambiguous, because I thought the 'twist' came from completely out of nowhere. It bothered me quite a bit. Absolutely love this interview though, and Kate Atkinson is absolutely amazing.
