Robert Z'dar is a freaking legend. Maniac Cop was a frequent watch at my dad's house. Z'dar was such an interesting dude, wish he had gotten to act in more stuff.
Samurai Cop is a timeless classic. The nurse scene is beyond Oscar worthy, the partners looks 😂🤣
I love when movie reviewers finally find this masterpiece. I love this movie. The dialogue, the acting, the effects, the fights, it’s all so brilliant.
Still better then most Netflix original movies.

This one, Miami Connection, and Hard Ticket to Hawaii are absolute classics in the crime/ action genre.

This is a great movie, not the way people who make it expected it, but it's hilariously good.

This was so funny from beginning to end. My favorite line was when the boss says, "I want him dead...I. want his head on this piano!" Like, uh, putting a head on a piano was the most sinister thing you could do? LOL. The only thing they left out of this movie was a Steven Seagal moment, like showing up in a strip club for no apparent reason.

Man!!! I had to have watched the wig mishap scene a million times!!! You can almost see his face when the wig came off and then he tried putting it back on!!!! Classic!!!

Such a classic flick with an insanely interesting history. This movie was lost for years. So freaking great!!

So part of the fun of not knowing what might come up next on this channel is being totally excited when a movie like this comes along, I know you've clearly already watched it, so I am retroactively so excited for you to see this! What a "movie". It's as if someone was handed the script for a porno and then thought, "What if we remove most of the sex - not all of it, that would be crazy -keep all of the gitty, hard-hitting dialogue, and really focused on the story itself.
Interesting side note, I had a female teacher in nursing school that looked A LOT like Robert Zdar (minus the beard). He was one of my favorite characters, starring in another classic buddy cop movie you've already reviewed Tango & Cash. Additionally, the bald Chinese character with the moustache was in one of my all-time favorite movies, "Big Trouble in Little China" as the bad guy from the street fight scene with the twin six shooters and double bandoliers. Why do I remember things like this? I haven't the foggiest.
Lastly, you know you now have to do the long awaited sequel that stars Tommy Wiseau, right? It's mandatory.
It was a journey and a half lol. But one I would happily go on again.

The Shoot-Out dialog is like sound clips from a video game.
The "charcoal black" line....as a black man...i was midly offended but it was fuckin hilarious

4:30 my favorite case of "bad dialogue while on fire" isn't from a movie, but the '50s novel "The Bad Seed" - the little girl lights up a guy who's been trying to blackmail her, and he then has literally several paragraphs of dialogue while he's running around on fire - "You have to believe me, I was never really gonna tell on you" etc etc. (they got it right in the movie version, though).
So glad you got to this one - an absolute classic for movies that are so terrible, they are great. :-)

You're hitting the highlights now man. A lot of people on youtube like to tackle the same things, and they go after them immediately. You took your time, and you bring your own voice to the material. I tend to be a cynical prick on the internet, but I do enjoy hearing what ol' RedEye thinks about some of my favorite schlock. Can't say it enough man, but keep up the excellent work.

@@RedEyeReviews Some of them are, like this one. Samurai Cop is a cult classic after all. Other times you're one of the first if not the first. I guess it just depends on who you watch on youtube. Point being though, you don't retread the same ground, and it's always an enjoyable installment. Didn't want to sound demoralizing when I said that though, so sorry if came off that way at all. I've suggested reviews to things I know are out there specifically to get the RedEye perspective.
I was first introduce to this great movie thru RiffTraxx, but i have to say you did a fantastic commentary. HILARIOUS.
This movie is great. It’s a lot like The Room, in that it’s a sorta clueless foreigner’s idea of what a “Real American Movie” (TM) ought to be. Except instead of Tommy Wiseau, it’s this random Iranian guy.
Apparently the main Persian takeaway from American culture is that we are just horny as hell absolutely all of the time.

Samurai Cop was the one that I wanted you to tackle the most. You ABSOLUTELY did this movie justice and WAY more! You know when to riff, and you know when to let the movie speak for itself.

This has to be Robert Z'Dar's B movie masterpiece. Cutting people's heads off....mean mugging samurai cop till his eyes pop out....and sucking in his stomach during the epic samurai fight. What a classic.
