  • We show you how to wire 3 light switches in one location; a single pole switch, a dimmer switch and a fan/light combo switch. This project is a little more complicated, than most so we try to make it easy to understand.

Great explanation of how to wire! The pictures that show the wires and how they run while you do the work make all the difference.

It's the little things that mark a true professional with passion for his craft. Leaving those flathead drives vertical on the switch plate was one of those things. I wish you were in Virginia. I would wait the 2 months for you to fit me in. I'm sure it's at least that long of a wait.

The greatest video I've seen on this topic thus far! The basic concepts are understandable but your production made it great. Keep It up!

Thank you for your video! It really helped me out. I wanted to replace one of the switches in a 3 gang box with a smart switch. I have become comfortable with replacing single pole switches in a single gang box but when I opened up this 3 gang box, I was a little apprehensive because it looked different. Of course I turned to RUclips and after watching several other videos found yours. With your clear explanation and diagram, I was ready to tackle my little project. I successfully installed my smart switch 😀😀😀

Great video! Learned a few things. How you keep your box organized that’s creates room and how you used the face plate to line up the switches! Thank you.

How would it be wired if there was already existing power

So let's say the porch light switch fails (i.e., the switch on far left goes bad). That would result in all the other switches not working since they are wired in series. Is that correct?

I can't figure out my issue. I have a 3 switch box, left and right are ones ways. The middle is a 3 way that pairs with the stairwell upstairs switch. My switches are new, I'm replacing old outdated ones so the screw placement is different so I'm not able to match it. Theres also no ground wires I can get to. They used one long black power wire to loop around each box top gold screw for each switch, and then there is of course the red for the 3way pairing. I have them set with the red on my left facing it, and the main shared power wire on the top my right facing, and the other black is bottom right. But the 3 way does not work yet. I'm stumped and not sure how to formula the question to find the answer on Google.
