Nice kit ! These are made in the Tama factory in China... the same factory where they make the Starclassic Maple's. Most of Yamaha's top level kits are also made in China in the Yamaha factory.
Actually any real drummer knows that the sound comes from the heads wood type has very litttle to do with sound I would take these drums on tour because these are made for the giging drummer
Before you complain about the snare, try tuning it. Also, usually the only thing fouling the sound of a good budget snare is the snares themselves. Upgrade those to some higher quality, and your blind test will be indistinguishable.
Nice kit, I love Tama superstar classic maples. I got my used from a friend and found the 12” rack tom to match on eBay so I bought that so can switch between a four to five piece kit.
Billy Jay Acevedo I agree. This 20” kick with the little bit of muffle from the Remo head can be used for just about any genre! It’s been a couple of months since I posted this video and the kick is one of my favorite parts! In my case, I’m playing punk rock.
Great video! Very helpful; I'm seriously in love with these in the "Blue Lacquer Burst" color, though I'm deciding between the 20" and 22" kick versions. The 22" kit has a deeper snare, though, maybe that would be better than this one that you didn't quite like. That green BD head was.....interesting!! x'D
Yeah, the snare drum. I ended up using my old snare and I really haven't taken the time to figure out the snare that comes with this kit. And your decision on 20" or 22", that's still a tough one! I want one of each!

Jay Lee Ah, very good to know! Thanks!
It doesn’t matter if it’s made in China or Japan the quality is still the same. Same quality control.
Thank you for the reply. This is good for all to know, especially if they are beginning shoppers for drum kits.
Erik Nordwall No problem man. Good video!
Not Really ..Correct . The Japan Quality or Control is much better then the Chinese….
Wrong !!!

Beautiful drum kit !!!
SuperNick090 ...and I’ve fallen more in love with it as time has gone on!
I just got an Superstar kick drum from Reverb. 24x18 and I can’t wait to bring the thunder with that baby!
I sold my drum kit las year... now im thinking in buying a new one here in Chile, and Tama is something in my mind.
Thanks very much for this Erik. Considering the 7 piece with the red Exotix finish - nice!
funland108 Very cool! Good luck! You’ll be stoked!
Mine is coming with a 22 by 18 bass drum . I love them .
Really nice kit! Take it to bars, clubs gigs. You don't wanna take a $4000 kit to those places, past experiences here. You can upgrade those though.
These are just as good as more expensive drums

why did you go from a Starclassic to a Superstar? Did not want to use the starclassic for local gigs maybe?
What do you suggest 20 "or 22" bass drums for the superstar?

You might want to put an impact patch on your bass drum head it makes the bass drum head last longer .

I have the same kit as the one in the video and my snare sounds amazing with a Remo ambassador coated
@@andrewfortune5534 Nice 🙂🥁
@@eriknordwall1439 22 by 18 is the best you can go that’s what I got with mine plus the 7 piece is what I got great for metal .
Au prix qu'on paye pourquoi les peaux ne sont pas toutes des Rémo ???😮
How are you enjoying the kit now that you’ve had some time to play it ? Any luck with the snare drum !?
Love the kit but haven't done much with the snare. I'm still using my StarClassic snare because it's great!
Failed us all ......where is the sound check mate. Fugg it
Install an evans hydraulic head on the snare. You'll thank me later.
Evans heads suck remo is better heads
