He is actually more of a poet than a musician. He has made some of the worst recordings I have ever heard. For example, take his recording of You Belong to Me, in whhich he doesn't seem to know either the words or the chords.
My older brother had pancreatic cancer and this was the very last song he heard. As we gathered around his bed we played this song and just like a movie moment when the song ended he took his last breath. Now when I hear this song I think of him and I’m learning to play this song with my flute. Thank you Mr Dylan

The first time I listened to this song, I was going to my hometown Kastamonu from İzmir and I was in a bus. The bus climbed so many bends and reached a hill's top. I saw this song on the playlist of the company and I started to listen to it. The sun was about to rise and I didn't know how much road we took till that point. The bus took the last bend and at that moment, I saw huge, plain fields, a valley I couldn't see where it ends while the sun was rising and started to make warm all the land. I couldn't take myself out of the song. While we were going down from the hill, I was in another world, we were in the valley and there was one or two tears in my eyes maybe because of happiness or because of some reason I still don't know but I felt like I understood something and I felt I was belonged to it. To all the people who can feel these things with love...

It's not my favorite, but it's a really good album to get into Dylan especially. Outside of the electric trilogy, I'd say this is up there as a good showcase. And this is a good song that shows how he's a pretty damn good singer on a technical level. I always hate how people say that he can't sing, because they don't like his tone. Considering those are two way different things. Also, they've probably never heard Nashville Skyline if they think he has a bad tone.

Listened to this, walking alone down a beach just around sunset, that golden hour. I had a decent buzz. As I walked, the surf washing over my feet every few step I took, I couldn't help but reflect and appreciate life. It was one of those moments in life of true peace and appreciation. Good medicine.
Have been listening to Mr Bob Dylans music for 60 yrs now i play his songs still everyday without a day missed and they will be playing at my funeral thank god for Bob.
I love the Arabic essences to his vocals, and the mystique and depth of the musicality. Makes one thing that they are venturing into a deep unknown corner of the Amazon, and indeed an uncharted terrain of the mind. Brilliant, and significant to my beginnings.
this performance longingly and sorrowfully "screams" poetically towards the hem of transcendence. Female vocal accompaniment and violin accompaniment add so much to the beauty of this heartfelt performance.
This is my favorite song, nothing compares to it. The vocals are incredible and the lyrics are so poetic, a story for the ages! An unrequited love song ❤
This song will always remind me of the most beautiful days in the university of California State University L A I used to a listen to your songs while studying in 1975 such a long time. Thank you Mr. Dylan
So, so, so, so good. Those mesmerising Emmylou Harris harmonies that seem to "wrap around" Dylan's best vocal performance since "Nashville Skyline"; the bass line; that tense Scarlet Rivera fiddle.
Yea the overall sound on this album is fantastic, the balancing of the male and female voices and instruments create something truly unique in his work.
I am waiting on Bob Dylan's concert tommorow in Rockhal, Luxemburg. I heard and saw him last time in 2011. It seems so like it was yesterday. It is recommended to be phone-free atmosphere, just to get this feeling as many decades before all these techno gadgets. Just the performer and his Art.

"..... there's no books upon your shelf, and your pleasure knows no limit...". Oh, and you want to hold on to that girl with all your heart. But you know you can't because there's too many books on your shelf.
My brother-in-law introduced me to Bob Dylan when I was like 20 years old or maybe younger and he brought me his first album for my 20th birthday and I still got that album I love that album play this is my favorite album
IM SO GLAD HIS ALBUMS ARE FINALLY ON RUclips. I’m finally delving deeper into his catalog and hearing most of his 70’s Albums for the first time. I love the heaviness of them.
Have not heard this song since it first came out and I was quite young. It seemed like something special then but as is often the case, things are not as you remember them, the memory eroding over the years. But not this song - no, it’s better than I recalled it. Haunting lyrics, and the way he intermittently veers off the western music scale. About as perfect as a song can get.
Such an amazing song! The White Stripes covered this several years later & did a hell of a job, but there's just no comparison to the original emotion & soul of Dylan. He puts so much heart into his music & lyrics. I remember my Mother had the Desire album on record, we used to listen when I was little. She was fortunate enough to see Bob in concert when she was 16. She said the audience threw roses at the stage. I wish I could've seen him too. I thank my Mom for making me a fan by introducing me to his music!
Every song contains many elements, and I think Bob gets most of them right must of the time: The poetry The melody The chords The vocal passion The accompaniment The harmonies The "roughness" of his voice ... Each and all are special in this song.

This album was my first record I bought as a 13 year old kid back in 1980. I loved listening to this album in that time, but after that I never listened other Dylan music, he was a complete stranger to me, until today, when RUclips served me his music. I was surprised to find that I carried his music inside me as an underground spring, from which I unknowingly drew and it has now naturally flowed out of me as a precious revelation, of how close we are to each other.
You literally made me spit out my drink while reading your comment, so thank you for the laugh... and thank you for the clean up which took place after my laughing spree 😂

There are songs which when we hear them they recall special period of our lives. The very first time that I had a chance to listen to this song was the beginning of quarantine and I got back to my hometown, this little place surrounded by mountains. I will always cherish these moments there sitting in our yard, at the beginning of spring, trees blossomed, sun shines, with the harmony of breathtaking view of mountains around, reading my favorite books and listening this song and few others that also become my favorite since then. Therefore, I will recall these 4 months of my life as a period of peace. Lastly I wanna quote from a movie that I love "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."
"Your loyalty is not to me, but to the stars above."

The opening chords are full of a sense of foreboding.
Desire is my favorite Bob Dylan album.
interesting.
Yeah great album. emmylou harris backing singing too incredible
It's my favorite too.

Listened to this, walking alone down a beach just around sunset, that golden hour. I had a decent buzz. As I walked, the surf washing over my feet every few step I took, I couldn't help but reflect and appreciate life. It was one of those moments in life of true peace and appreciation. Good medicine.
Pure lyrical masterpiece. He just takes you there.
Only in my opinion THIS is the best Bob Dylan's song ever ...
Well you here one of his song and say this is the best, then you hear another one and say this one is the best...Clearly me 😂
It's true, it's pure insight, I never tire of it
I'm not gonna argue..
AGREED! This voice fits this song/instruments better than any other. It has that Arabic-call-from-the-minuet vibrato.
Today in the morning all of sudden I just wanted to listen to this lovely song and off course I needed a cup of coffee.
me to! just had to hear it again... and then I replayed it SEVEN TIMES. the harmony w/Emmy Loub and Scarlett Rivera's violin. and yes, a cup of coffo
I was just thinking along these same lines - I feel like if you couldn’t understand English you would think it was being sung in Arabic

this performance longingly and sorrowfully "screams" poetically towards the hem of transcendence. Female vocal accompaniment and violin accompaniment add so much to the beauty of this heartfelt performance.
This is my favorite song, nothing compares to it. The vocals are incredible and the lyrics are so poetic, a story for the ages! An unrequited love song ❤
the backup is by emmylou harris , one of my favorite female vocalists - check out " spanish johnny" by emmylou harris i think you will enjoy it .

Dylan: A major figure in popular culture during a career spanning of more than 60 Years!
Masterpiece. A random mix that sometimes may even sound out of tune but it's so unique. His voice is just so unique and different.
One of my favorite Dylan's songs

Simple and brilliant and profound
UNagJac So did I
So, so, so, so good.
You mean mesmerizing. It's the perfect word.

Pure love and gratitude from Bangladesh.
Wow! Wish I was there… would love to know how the phone situation plan worked… would be amazing! 🤩 ❤enjoy.. have a cup of coffee before you go !!

My brother-in-law introduced me to Bob Dylan when I was like 20 years old or maybe younger and he brought me his first album for my 20th birthday and I still got that album I love that album play this is my favorite album
The violinist did wonders for this entire album. It’s excellent work.
Just found the credits and it was Scarlett Rivera
Yes, it beautifully fits within the song which is altogether perfect
This album the first Bob Dylan album and I was hooked on his music and I was only 14 year's old I'm 51 now and still love his music 💿📀💽

He’s an amazing artist. Unfortunately, artists today have no inspiration and no talent for music. Is this your favorite song?
Listening to Bob Dylan makes you smarter. Really!
A genius had the pleasure of seeing him live in limerick Ireland greatest songwriter of all time thank you rob.
IM SO GLAD HIS ALBUMS ARE FINALLY ON RUclips.
I’m finally delving deeper into his catalog and hearing most of his 70’s Albums for the first time.
I love the heaviness of them.
Never been a fan of Dylan but this is a masterpiece.

This is so immediately ancient. Dylan was here before. The violin is so haunting and holds the whole song together. Stunning.
dylan is "un juif errant" he has already been everywhere at any time!
Easily one of his greatest songs.
This song only gets better with time 💙
Hello dear, it’s nice meeting you on here
Such an amazing song!
Listened to this song for the first time at age of 8. Still brings goosebumps.
Emmylou Harris sings the harmony with Bob on this. What a voice!

OH. A lot of comments call this his the most perfect song ever...close enough but I will call "Forever Young" that song. Perfect.

Every song contains many elements, and I think Bob gets most of them right must of the time:
The poetry
The melody
The chords
The vocal passion
The accompaniment
The harmonies
The "roughness" of his voice ...
Each and all are special in this song.
yeees
It's a blessing to have grown up to his songs, especially this one. Dylan helped carve out beautiful inspirations that helped shaped our generation.

Your back is straight your hair is smooth
Sırtın düz, saçın pürüzsüz
On the pillow where you lie
Yattığın yastıkta
But I don't sense affection
Ama şefkat sezmiyorum
No gratitude or love
Ne minnettarlık ne sevgi

Your daddy he's an outlaw
Baban, o bir kanun kaçağı
And a wanderer by trade
Ve mesleği avarelik
He'll teach you how to pick and choose
Sana seçmeyi ve ayırmayı öğretecektir
And how to throw the blade
Ve bıçağı fırlatmayı
He oversees his kingdom
O krallığına gözkulak oluyor
So no stranger does intrude
Böylece yabancılar rahatsız edemez
His voice it trembles as he calls out
Sesi titriyor, seslenirken
For another plate of food.

Once unleashed into the world

Thank you to the great people sharing Dylan's music. I don't know who I am without it.
👍‼🌿
Enstrümanlar, vokal, aranje… Her şeyi o kadar güzel ki bu şarkının. Yutkunamamama sebep olan bir yumru.
Beautiful story.
Oh my God, the way you describe your feelings - it's a Claas of it's own!
Thank you, thank you , thank you !!
Desire .. Released in 1976. Thumbs ☝
Dylan is so unique in terms of sound and lyrics what a musician. The king of folk song or should a say king of poetry music.
I think I'm more unique than him
something is either unique or not..it can't be "so unique"
Give my channel a boost. Visit it!! I covered this song. I hope you like it!
One of my all time favourites.
Anyone who thought Dylan couldn't sing in those days never tried to sing along with this track.
He was a different breed had great songs
He didn't care. He sang very well if he wanted. His message is in the words. Poet more than an entertainer.
You literally made me spit out my drink while reading your comment, so thank you for the laugh... and thank you for the clean up which took place after my laughing spree 😂

She would have said same thing

There are songs which when we hear them they recall special period of our lives. The very first time that I had a chance to listen to this song was the beginning of quarantine and I got back to my hometown, this little place surrounded by mountains. I will always cherish these moments there sitting in our yard, at the beginning of spring, trees blossomed, sun shines, with the harmony of breathtaking view of mountains around, reading my favorite books and listening this song and few others that also become my favorite since then. Therefore, I will recall these 4 months of my life as a period of peace. Lastly I wanna quote from a movie that I love
"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."
What a lovely song by Bob on more cup when I was young my parents used to play it so I do love it 🥰
