love watching your excel tutorials. I am currently having a test as data analyst and I need to get exposed with excel and dashboard and everything so your videos really helped me alot building my dashboard from scratch and the connection of slicer is really a gold mine lol more power to you sir
I love people that love Excel and learn something new everyday from them. Amazing how something so simple is the most awesome solution to a problem I have encountered many times. Thank you Jon.
+Wyatt McNabb Awesome! Thanks Wyatt! Maybe someday they will add a real search box to the slicers. I appreciate the nice feedback. Have a good one! :-)
Thanks Jon! I wanted an easy date select drop down and this inspired me to use the pivot version\search for the user. I created a data dashboard already with multiple criteria based on the date selection and this helped. Excel is so underrated :) . Like being able to to sum multiple values based on multiple criteria with a simple sumifs ... Thanks for your videos!
wow what would we do without this channel THANK YOU your "tricks" are so helpful for any business

Hi, was sceptical at first (reading on your blog), but then the video looked okish, so i tried it and actually good tip. In my dashboard i had to put away the slicer as it was causing some distractions, but the idea of filter and not using the rest of pivot table, is great :) cheers
Thanks Jon! I am an accounting student and need to do projects with reports and I am going all out to adding a dashboard on the main page! I have always wanted to know how this is done and now I can do it also! Thank you again! Terrie Marie
Thank you, Jon. I've been using your videos and tutorials for a while now and always find them helpful and easy to follow. Thank you very much for the work you do!
Thanks John! I really appreciate your videos. Very helpful.. I've also purchased your Paste Buddy tool 2 years ago. Fasciltated my job big time. Much appreciated.
Wow... This is genius! I've spent a whole day to create a meticulous userform for 'smart' filtering... But this neat little trick is way better! Thank you a lot!
This is a good idea. Since slicers don't automatically jump to the selected person, I would add to a linked cell, probably as a title, showing the name of the person selected.
hi thanks alot really helpfull can you help me with something, i need to lock the filter on the slicer so that specific employees can see only their own filters or there own area of expertise. is there any way to do so?
I enjoyed watching this video and recommend others. Thanks for educating the community and appreciate your volunteer ship in teaching. My question is You have the filter ()Red X mark in Slicer and why can't we use that? Thanks a bunch
This is fantastic. Thank you for making an easy to follow video. The only issue that I'm having is that I can't move the filter cells as you show at the 3:27 mark. The filters automatically show at the top of the worksheet and can't be moved. Please let me know how to change it, so I can move the filter to where we need it in the worksheet. Thank you.
Very nice Jon. Though the size of the second pivot table selection field resizes based on the text length. Maybe maintain table formatting is needed? Question - is there a way to select a filtered set of data and copy it to the clipboard and then paste it into a predefined "table" and have the table automatically expand to the lines being copied?
Hi Larry, Yes, there is an option in the Pivot Table Options menu to Autofit Column Widths on Update. You can uncheck the box to turn it off. In regards to your question, you can use an Excel table for this. Here is a video on Excel Tables. ruclips.net/video/fJnJTff4Na8/видео.html
Nice method for filtering multiple items in a slicer. Is there a similar method for filtering a group of numbers with a slicer? Like all records in a pivot table where the ID number is greater than 10000?
Hello, Thanks for putting up these great video! How would I get a pivot table row to be hyperlinked to another pivot table that has more detailed info about the row selected. So for example if I have a pivot table four projects, and if I click on project 1, I want to be taken another page that would have detailed info regarding that project 1. The detailed page would also be a pivot table, or developed from a macro that reads from the same date source. Hopefully I am making sense. Thanks in advance.
Outstanding tutorial! Loved the extra detail around making this "slicer filter" look super elegant. Kudos!
Glad you liked it @sriramvaradarajan1846 😀
