I reviewed this video again and it has proved to be very valuable. Thank you, Jon, for all your fine Excel training. I'm an advanced Excel user, but still learn a lot from your quality video trainings. Thanks much!
I had to take an Excel test during an interview. They heavily use PivotTables. I am so glad I found your channel! Thank you for presenting the information so clear and concise. I will be a frequent viewer.
I enjoyed watching this video and recommend others. The host explains all the three types of Display Slicer List of values Comma Separated list Also, I noticed that you were telling the audience TEXTJOIN function in Excel 2016 that being said that I would suggest that whenever you make video try to explain in the beginning that what version of Excel that your video would be helpful. Since you are addressing a large audience on the internet. And everybody may not have the your version. Thanks for educating the community and appreciate your effort in teaching. Thanks a bunch
Very much appreciated that you mention that certain outcomes are additive which not only shows all options but emphasizes that one is needed for the other to work
Great training Jon, thanks! You can also right-click the slicer and choose the option to move unselected items to the bottom so your selected items will always be at the top (although for really long lists your joined text list works better visually). Thanks!
Excellent video! I had wondered if there was a way to list out multiple entries while using a pivot table. I will be using this a lot going forward. Thank you again!
Great tutorial, thanks!! Can we do the opposite? That is, generate a list of values that the pivot will filter by? I have 100s of items in the pivot that I want to filter multiple items. I can paste each value in the filter dropdown and check the box, but that seems slow. Is there a way I can provide the pivot with a list and tell it to 'filter by this list'?
what if I have a long list of items (2000): for example I have 2000 names but I am only interested to filter for 5 names that I already know, how do I select all of them into the search portion of the pivot without going thru all 2000 names/items...?
Nice Tutorial! Is there a way to filter all connected pivot tables by using contains, or starts with etc, in one of the pivot table filters and be reflected in the other pivot and the slicer?
My pivot's data source is an oracle database. In my pivot table i have a product column. The products can be categorized as Class-A, Class-B and Class-C. It was easy for me to create a simple field in the database for its categorization but it would take me so much time because all the data in database is mapped wrt hierarchy. What i need is that presence of a column in the pivot file where i can select class a, b, c products.
Great video! I'm hoping you can help. I'm trying to create an Excel dashboard from a survey of yes or no questions that have been captured using 1 and 0. In the data table, the choices are the header names. I've come to understand this needs to be changed to have the choices listed in 1 column under a single header name. The problem is, the questions have multiple selections for each question. This means when updating the data to list the choices under 1 column, 1 cell would have 1 or more entries which is an issue when trying to create a dashboard. I tried to figure this out by creating a Microsoft Form with multi-choice questions and then downloading the Excel sheet to see how the data looked but the Excel sheet didn't help. Are you able to advise? I know this may be difficult to understand without a visual.
Hi MEST, check out my free video series on pivot tables and dashboards. ruclips.net/video/9NUjHBNWe9M/видео.html I also have a free training series on the lookup formulas. www.excelcampus.com/lookup-formulas-free-training/
Hello Jon, Thanks for the video I am from Indonesia. Can we use a slicer for more than 1 data source at once? In this case I have 3 different data source but the data has 4 duplicated columns which is Factory, Sales Date, Region and factory code. And I want to add those 4 columns into a slicer that are connected into those 3 data sources.
Hi Jon, I'm curious, is there a way to do this with multiple filters? I know I could have multiple slicers, but right when include multiple connected pivot tables, I run into issues.
Wouldn't it be easier to select the business name as the main selection and group the salesperson totals via pivot table options? Or am I simply missing the point?
Hi Will, this technique is just about displaying the list of multiple items that are selected in the filter of the Fields area. The technique is not specific to the data set. We could have any field in the filters area and this technique would still work. I hope that helps.
Second method is not working when we filter the first table. I need connected pivot tables for filtering all tables with one table. Slicer is useful but slicers are not working on mobile and web excels. Macros as well. I need a solution for filter all tables with one filter on mobile and web excels

Hi Jon, can we display the result in vertical form as well by using the 3rd solution which you had explained in this training video?
AWESOME!!!👍🏾

Is there also a way in which I can select the last leaf of the hierarchy of a dimension used in pivot table?
Hi Jon, I'm curious, is there a way to do this with multiple filters? I know I could have multiple slicers, but right when include multiple connected pivot tables, I run into issues.
Jon can you direct me to a video where you first filter through a lot of data, then create a pivot table and then total some values ? I am stuck
Super
Hi. I remember there is another way to show the list using ampersand formula. Is it right? Thanks!
Hi John, can we sort values in pivot table e.g.largest to smallest? Thanks

sir,
can we select multiple items in slicer simple data. not useing pivot tables.?
hi Jon, my multiple filter criteria is date ,but textjoin shows the date in number format ,is there any way ?

If I paste the multiple co. name, the pivot table to work automatically as per the listed name, how to do that instead of clicking one by one
In slicer I want to see only filtered in pivot table, remaining not
PleaseTell me filter formula(pivot table fields)
How: By (VBA) merging of two cells and the development of content integration in a single cell
Great Info - thanks
