    Thank you so much! I am making vest no 1 and I had no idea how to do this so I was very happy to find this video! I would have loved to see the first few stitches but this was a huge help anyway. Thank you.

    Hi, thank you for a nice tutorial. Beautiful color too :). I would like to know how you started the fold and knit bind off. Should i use a third needle?
    Thank you

      Hi! You start just how I did in the video! Just your usual 2 needles. You put your left needle through both stitches, knit, then bind off

    Wish you’d shown the last step too, I’ve no idea what to do with the last stitch left 😅😂

    How do you finish it? Maybe I messed up, but I’m left with one stitch on my right needle…

      Hi! I used 2 strands held together. I used Bendigo Woollen Mills - classic 8 ply in pale eucalypt www.bendigowoollenmills.com.au/classic-8-ply
      And drops kid silk in sage green.
      I really love how the colour turned out! I’m also making another sweater in the Bendigo woollen mills luxury 8 ply. I think it feels a tad softer but both are nice.

      Oh sorry! I didn’t record the start (it’s basic cast on) and the pattern is just knit rows and purl rows. Still knitting it at the moment :)

      @@knitsbyk6964 Thank you for the video - I found the lighting just fine and could see everything clearly. Your pacing was good too and you didn't mess it up with annoying music or 5 minutes of useless chatter. Plus - YAY - you clearly showed that the stitches are left pretty loose and not pulled up snug every time you cast one off. :-) Did you "cast on" at the neck edge to begin the ribbing, or did you pick up-and-knit them? Perhaps next time you knit a collar like this you could video how you do that part, you did a really nice job of this video and it's lovely to watch. I think even relatively new knitters would find it clear and easy to follow.

    is this a stretchy bind off? Ive tried others but my head wouldn't even go in lol

    • @knitsbyk6964
      @knitsbyk6964  Год назад

      It fits me! You can always use bigger needles if you’re using interchangeable needles. Go up 2 sizes. I found that helped me when I started. And just do a few and stretch it - gauze if how loose you’re doing it is enough x

      If you have trouble binding off loosely enough to keep it stretchy try combining this with Jeny's Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off. For that you would do a yarn round needle before you knit the next stitch together with the picked up edge. Then you would pass both the yarn round the needle and the previous stitch over the first stitch on the needle. There are vids on yt about this bind off and it is useful for lots of things. You can use it on 2 x 2 ribbings as well and there are vids about how to use it for that too. If you're handy with a crochet hook you can make it faster and easier by using a crochet hook in your right hand. (But once you get the hang of it with two needles it's still pretty fast and easy. :-) ) Edit to add - if this cast off is too stretchy you don't need to use the yarn round needle method for each stitch - you can use it on 2 out of 3, or 1 out of 2 and so on to adapt it for the amount of stretch you need.
