Ax50 = better for close engagements from up to 150m HDR = better for long range engagements especially with HDR pro barrel which allows the HDR to have no bullet drop up to 350m
I get so many hit markers with headshots with the dragunov. It's a terrible feeling when you get a good shot but then don't get the kill because it wasn't an HDR or AX50

Yeah these two are balanced in relativity to each other, but the rest of the weapon balance is terrible for the most part. Theres like 8 guns that are well balanced against each other while the rest are trash, only because these guns weren't designed with warzone in mind. They need to have some weapons have different values in warzone to make them viable. Hopefully they'll buff some trash guns for warzone only.
@@slayridah I mean yeah that's true there are OP weapons in the game. MP5, M4A1, 725... however with the way they designed this game, those should be the most powerful guns in the game. Theres a reason the germans declared shotguns to be against the geniva convention, theres a reason behind the M4 being the main issued weapon of the US military, and theres a reason the MP5 is used by most top tier security personal in the world. And I do understand its just a game so they could have toned them down a bit.. but then it wouldnt really make sense when actually looking at those guns tbh. Plus this is one of the only COD games were shotguns actually behave like shotguns, and even tho I personally dont use shotguns ever in game it's good to finally see a game were a shotgun can actually kill someone from 20 feet away like you could in real life. Plus outside of those OP guns most of the guns are actually very balanced. P90, Mp7, bizen, mk2, kar98 k, EBR, scar, ak47, kilo. There are tons of great guns in the game and almost every gun in this game feel good to use honestly. But of course you loose to an M4. Just like you would normally in real life going up against a trained marine with an M4.
@@slayridah and for warzone, alot of the less used guns are actually very good to use in warzone. I find myself using the M13 alot more than I do in normal multiplayer because it has literally 0 kick to it, the origin shotgun can have an argument for being better than the 725 in warzone due to magazine size and how quickly it shoots, and honestly the MP7 is better than the MP5 in warzone to me personally due to ammo capacity and very little kick. Also the AUG is pretty good too if you have 5.56 ammunition in it. But of course these are all opinions and I'm sure you dont agree with all them
For these 2 guns... Maybe. Battlefield dominates (or used to, until they whiffed with bfv) the sandbox shooter category because their game is balanced for it. Full autos have limited range because of accuracy and recoil limitations. Warzone, and MW specifically, have no such limitations. Autos are absurdly accurate even at extremely long range. A mounted AR can send a continuous stream of bullets with ridiculous accuracy out to very long ranges. Try and snipe on battlefield with an AR. It wont work. If COD is going to shift into the sandbox genre to compete with BF, they need to balance the game accordingly. Automatics need a MASSIVE range and accuracy nerf. Put in some realistic bullet velocity and some actual recoil, not this purely visual BS that they call recoil. A good sniper on MW/Warzone would get laughed out of the lobby on a battlefield game if they tried sniping.
Anyone annoyed with snipers, just run cold blooded and a 3x scope and you're basically invisible to most of them. So many people spot snipers due to scope glint as well as your signature on their thermal scope.
Hah that's not gonna work. I can still spot the gray people running cold blooded pretty easily in my thermal scope. As long as there's movement, they're easy to spot
HDR all day the AX-50 does an amazing job in multiplayer with the quick ADS but when you’re pickin targets off at 500 m you need the bullet velocity that the HDR brings to the table
I think the AX-50 is better. Sure, the HDR is better for extreme range sniping due to its higher bullet velocity, but most fights aren’t going to take at that range. The AX-50 is just more practical for most fights you’ll get in. If you’re gonna play as a true sniper, take the HDR, if you’re gonna run and gun, take the AX-50. It can also take a lot more attachments than the HDR and can be kitted to make up for some of its weaknesses.
I absolutely agree with you and also I'm very sure that the HDR bullet velocity will get nerfed at some point when everyone absolutey starts abusing the HDR for easier sniping and the community starts complaining about it, so you might as well just stick to the AX50 now and get used to its bullet drop and you'll be ready after that nerf :D
i find my self hitting myself hitting my shots way more with the HDR than the AX-50. But i find myself sniping 200+ meters and bullet is very minimal with the HDR. AX-50 has a noticeable bullet drop right before 200 meters so which is why i prefer the HDR. But the AX-50 scope smacks 😌
if you look closely the HDR actually has less of a fish-eye lens than with the AX-50 with the default scope. I know its a small detail, but when scoped in and looking around, it does make a difference.
@Sandro i use smokes to risk the revive sometimes. But if the sniper has thermal im still fucked. I run double time or quick fix over cold blooded. For my medic setup i might think about changing that if thermal scopes end up being a problem tho

Honestly I prefer the AX-50 over the HDR because it feels smoother, and you can add more attachments to it that help reduce the ADS time. It’s overall the better sniper at closer ranges, and with the longest barrel, you shouldn’t really have to worry about bullet drop until 200m-250m (I’m not sure about these stats, I’ve never actually tested it). And once you go past around 250m, you don’t actually HAVE to fight people (unless if you’re going for high kill games of course), as unless they have a sniper themselves, you don’t have to worry about them killing you. If you’re like me, who usually goes for wins, then I would say use the AX-50. If you want to frag out, I would recommend the HDR.
Braxton Conley it takes 7 shots at its max damage range. Does 41 damage per shot, 250/41=6.1ish, which means ya need 7. I used so I’m rounds for a little bit too and loved how fast it killed, especially with stopping power. However if you miss at all, you’re often screwed
Braxton Conley aug 5.56 is pretty dirty. But personally I just use the standard M4 because not missing shots is really important, and my accuracy with that weapon is pretty solid. As is everyone’s I’m sure. Just won my first solo game today with M4 and HDR
Two more things to consider: - The HDR has a stock attachment (FTAC Champion) that removes almost all of its idle sway, but I don't think the AX-50 has an attachment like that. - The highest possible zoom level on the HDR (12.5x i think, zoomed in with variable zoom) is higher than that of the AX-50 (12x I think).
All I can say from my experience in warzone is that the ax-50 works better for me. I tried the HDR but didn't do well with it. I switched to the ax-50 and got way more hits in and even won a couple of times. Yes there were times where my ax-50 just couldn't hit people super far away, but those people were not a big threat just bc they were so far.
Would love an episode on the marksman rifles for war zone, specifically the EBR-14 as I believe you said in an episode you couldn’t find range that it wasn’t a 3 shot kill
I've been someone who has been preaching about how the EBR is underrated for a while and its my favorite gun to use in multiplayer. I think its absolute garbage in warzone though.
The EBR 14 is a 5 shot kill to the body in warzone, you can test this on the bots in a custom game by putting them up to 250 health (aka 100 plus 3 armor plates). But the headshot multiplier is pretty nasty allowing you to drop full health players in just 2 headshots.
It isn't a 5 hit kill u don't know what you did but it was wrong it removed armour in 2 guys to the chest and then two hits the chest for a down , it's been a two hit to the chest in mp since release.
You didn’t mention at all that the HDR has less ADS attachments than the AX-50. With the stippled grip tape, the AX-50 is significantly quicker than the HDR.

Gold first on HDR, but use AX50 for more "cqb" in Warzone and no IR-scope. For longer and IR I always use HDR. Hope we get a new sniper AND pistol in next update/season 3 :)
Robert Kar is my favorite too. I absolutely destroy full teams with it because I run a monolithic suppressor and a 4.0x hybrid so they have no clue where I’m shooting from lol but out of 100 headshots I have had like 5 people not die. Has this happened to you? Lol

I used to prefer the AX-50, but the HDR really grew on me... I've been getting some headshots out to around 350 m, where everything in my scope is a poorly rendered blur-blob. Also got a hit at about 500 m once, but it took more shots than I care to admit.
Honestly if you aren't a confident sniper the HDR is the better option, if you want to go for a slightly higher risk/high reward scenario, the AX-50 is where it's at judging from this video!
Haven't heard your opinion on this yet. What's your view on sniping and thermal optics? As well as the the boring rooftop playstyle that a lot of people seem to be glued too?
@@br3nn3n high risk = lower bullet velocity meaning you you have to predict movement more at longer ranges and also account for bullet drop. High reward = higher firerate so you have more followup shots to make up for the extra skill/risk required.

Yes and no. The hdr is a special ammo and is actually made to shoot longer than the ax50. And they both have distinct weapon description to state this. Ax50: Prelcise shooting onver linger distances Hdr: Devastating at longer distances
Actually no, the AX-50 doe not need a buff, the difference between them is that the HDR is better for long distances and the AX-50 for mid-range. That is intended and the first time they did snipers right in cod imo.

@@xxtadaz that's not what he means. Just use the 5.56 30 round mags, the longest barrel, and the CQB Tac Comb stock. Everything else is personal preference. I like the 3.0x integral sight. You could also throw on stippled grip or a compensator/vert grip to control the vertical recoil if you have a hard time with it.
Future video suggestion. FN FAL vs EBR for mid to long range engagements. I'm finding a trio with 2 bolts and 1 DMR to be very very effective (as it was in PUBG). DMR hits a few shots and then bolty only has to center mass hit for a down (or vice versa). EDIT: Trios only, not talkin solos.

I basically use them as most people do I think: AX50 for closer ranges and HDR for long ranges. I am just as surprised that the ADS speed with no attachments is identical; Never would have guessed that lol. I've been reading in damage charts online that the K98 does 154 damage up close. Anybody know if this is true? Would that actually give it even better damage, or are the charts flawed?
It's true. It deals more damage to the chest up close but it drops off fairly early on and it doesn't have the same headshot potential as the AX or HDR.
The ax-50 also has the ability to equip more ads speed attachments than the hdr to counteract the slower ads times. I still find the hdr to be a more consistent 1 shot. That's why it's my go to in search and in br.
In MP, it's AX-50 all day. Quicker ADS is so crucial to combat M4's and MP5's constantly spraying at you with pinpoint accuracy. I'm still back and forth for WZ, cause my shots are pretty consistent headshots with both snipers.
@@ImThe5thKing yeah the only reason I choose the hdr in most cases in wz is because idle away is worse on the ax-50 and the ax has to be dressed for longer ranges to feel comfortable for me. The hdr however, I just take the laser off and throw on the dual zoom scope and I'm good to go.
I've used both, the HDR feels like you get more reliable all purpose rifle as it 1-shot downs consistently at longer ranges whereas the AX-50 is a nice squad rifle since follow ups are faster.

When he’s talking about the bullet drop over extreme ranges, as someone who played battlefield 3&4 for 5+ years, you have to feel the headshot. Also, variable zoom scopes are amazing
Definitely, I was dropping people at long range with the SVD in 3, due to the 4x PSO scope actually having a proper rangefinder. Once I got used to a suppressor, I was sitting way off somewhere, ranging enemy snipers then popping them in the head.
I was never in the AX-50 fan club. The 50 Cal seems to be very overated in many of these games. Honestly, I feel the AX-50 should do more damage to offset it's negatives compared to the HDR bit that's just me.
Would love to see some test results on using the Kill Chain perk in Warzone. Could be a solid perk 1 if it drastically increases chance of finding Killstreaks in boxes
i just started grinding getting all attachments for all my sniper rifles, and the ax 50 had so much bullet drop for me. it’s wayyyyy to inconsistent for me too, and i love the hdr
I started using the EBR in Warzone and I think it can 1 shot through all 3 armor plates with a headshot. I gotten some 1 shots but there's no way for me to tell if they are fully plated but all it needs is one shot.
I'm not 100% certain if the Dragunov can one shot against full armor up close but I definitely remember getting a headshot hitmarker (with no down) at a longer range so it's not a guaranteed 1 shot to the head at least, unlike with the AX and the HDR.
When I first started playing I was using the ax 50 I had all the ranges set up for the exact mil dots and then I picked up the HDR and never look back🤣🤣
I feel like these snipers are almost perfectly balanced to both be viable, with small differences that make you really think about what kinda stats you wanna prioritize. It would be nice with a semiauto .50 Barrett M107 though. Not sure how they'd balance it (probably higher bullet drop, slower velocity, and maybe slightly lower damage) but I'm pretty sure it'd be really cool. (An L115A3, aka. AWM, aka. AWP but more powerful, would also be cool.)
I love how you chose the FAL as your primary. I love it, and I feel it offer great damage and decent fire rate. I set mine up as close to the Beefeater as possible, and use it with the .50 GS.
HDR it's just so much more consistent for me and I can pull off some ridiculous shots with it. Literally collated 2 kids out a chopper today on warzone from from a fairly far distance too.

Personally I think the crossbow with explosive bolt is the best sniper, as long as you hit their body their dead. Plus the utility of explosive bolts comes quite in handy when vehicles happen to drive by 😈
Great video. Since the AX-50 has a much better standard scope, the AX-50 will pretty much always ADS faster than the HDR, since the HDR really needs another scope to be effective, making its ADS speed slower. So with the AX-50 you can easily get an ADS speed that is at least 67ms faster than the HDR while also having the faster fire rate; using the standard scope also saves a mod slot to use on something else, whereas you need to spend a slot on the HDR for a scope. All in all, with these things accounted for, the HDR seems like it's the better option for long range, as you said, but the AX-50 is better all-around when using the standard scope, which is a good scope anyway.
I has this problem with HDR. I was so comfortable with HDR in Ground War and MP. And when I finally gold it. I moved to AX-50 I couldn't hit anything for a few matches because that lower bullet Velocity and drop. Now, Iam comfortable with AX-50 and can't return to HDR because ADS and all is slower then on my AX-50. But stil, I can pull out headshot above 150 meters easily. But in closer situation Iam trash with HDR right now. EDIT: And Iam kinda sad. Because my best play of the games in Cyber/S&D were with HDR
Same I started with the AX 50 and now I can’t change, even with different barrels I’m missing a lot more shots now that I put a different barrel on it so I went back to stock and now I’m back to hitting head shots. I feel it’s hard to 0 in with the change of bullet velocity but maybe that’s just me.
@@xlordxsithxroyalmiller3185 the AX50 isn't a Barrett. Barrett is a company that does make .50 cal snipers but the AX50 is the gun in the game and the real one is made by Accuracy International. They are both chambered in .50 BMG.
Extremely good guide! Just wish you had tested these with commons setups, like an AX setup to improve range + ADS/mobility vs HDR with better ADS. In my opinion, HDR is really good for having fun hitting long ranges, but if you're playing to win, most of those 150m+ longshots aren't vital, while being really quick to hit direct battles with AX's quicker ADS and fire rate might win you games, specially if you're on the last 10 teams and you have to hit the right people. Also another tip, get 2 similar loadouts, the first with overkill with sniper + AR with good accuracy and range like RAM, the other loadout with ghost/other perk you like for end circles. Get the one with overkill first, then buy/run to another loadout crate and get ghost
I feel like there are more attachments for the AX-50 that will improve aim down sight speed. because it has a grip attachment that the HDR doesn't have. I will probably try it today, using those bull barrels for the HDR to see how it changes recoil. I know the range drops off significantly but I don't aim that far with my snipers anyway. We shall see

Sniper? Take an M4, put the 10 round SOCOM ammo in, with a marksman barrel, monolithic suppressor, variable zoom scope and whatever other attachments you see fit. Zero drop and acts as an insanely busted DMR
A quick tip: Don't use thermal scope, use the default or the zoomable scope, because the thermal can't see trough windows and enemies with cold blooded perk can be hidden from you
In frame-tight sniper battles across the map the netcode and latency has more to do with who comes out on top, versus the rate of fire difference between the HDR & AX.
ok, found out why I always miss whit the HDR Though the gun was just bad or had really huge bullet drop off and slow speed now its the exact opposite the gun has WAY faster bullet speed and less bullet drop off then I thought I always shot too much to the side to hit a running enemy and too much above to hit a faraway enemy nope, just aim right at them and you hit them
I've been grinding for gold hdr for a bit and totally forgot about bullet drop, projectile speed, and hit markers. HDR pro barrel and variable zoom shreds in multiplayer and in Warzone.
In conclusion: Use whatever feels more comfortable to you. If you feel like you do better with the AX-50, then use it, if you feel better with the HDR, then use it.

I've pretty much only used the AX50 and kar98k exclusively in MP (I have 4k kills with ax50, 2.5k with kar) but I have to admit the HDR feels better for Warzone
The HDR is an absolute beast in Warzone. I put the long barrel and sup on it with the variable zoom. Its gross the shots it can hit. Like you said its basically a hit scan for a really long ways.
I have a load out for both and I use them both all the time but the AX-50 is still my go to, I’ve always played battlefield so adjusting for bullet drop and where to lead on a target has never been an issue for me. If I’m honest my longest shot were made with an AX-50 and some of them were killing drivers in moving tac rovers. At the end of the day it comes down to the player. Whichever one you put more time behind at long range is the one you’ll know the best where to hold and lead shots. To me the AX-50 handles smoother and doesn’t seem to clutter my screen as much as the HDR.
The Dragunov and EBR-14 have good enough bullet velocities and the same 1-shot headshots at extreme ranges. Especially if you’re depending on follow up shots, they might actually be the best for you, and I use them pretty often. Real-life soldiers agree and often use a SCAR-H, M21, or something similar for typical long ranges.
Most people aren’t running flinch resistance. So like with BF4, the best sniper is a counter sniper class. The EBR or the FAL with thermal. No scope glint, fast fire rate, etc. If you have good aim, you can out snipe snipers all day.
I really like the HDR but my personal skill is definitely with the AX-50. That better re centering usually guarantees me that dual hit kill when handling the AX. When using the variable scopes, i find myself having more confidence in my aim with the AX as i adjust for distancing head shots.
I was using marksman rifles the most up until recently and I started using the HDR first. That thing was taking people OUT. The marksmen rifles would make people go down but I felt like many were just tagged. I am using the AX50 just to see the differences and it has its upsides but the HDR has been way better so far.
I personally like the ax-50 more for long range sniping because 500-550m is right on the bottom of the crosshairs when using variable zoom. It’s a perfect mark for getting people out of the tower from a safe distance
Thanks Ace! I was doing a bunch of testing in there last night. Trying to figure out which one works best in my hands. Ended up AX for me. But I need to unlock more for the hdr.
In short, the ax50 basically handles better in every way besides actual ballistic profile. It has a slightly faster rof, default scope zooms in more and gives a clearer peripheral, it's shots reset to where you shot vs the hdr which points you to the sky after each shot. The hdr has a way flatter trajectory and shorter travel time which makes really long shots easier. There's other stuff but those are the main determinants
Not to be that guy, but 98-102 damage difference is huge. The distance window is small, but that's completely neglecting a critical damage breakpoint (no armor killshot) Still a great video. I'm now going to give the HDR a shot, I'm a sucker for handling speed but this seems like a worthwhile compromise
I use both, when im just feeling like camping at a high tower is use HDR if i want to actually help my team i use AX50. I lean more towards AX50 though, the rechamber speed being the main reason. Surprised about the ads time though i could swear the AX50 has way faster ads, but than we have people like you who actually do the math and help me out this dream :P

Plus this is one of the only COD games were shotguns actually behave like shotguns, and even tho I personally dont use shotguns ever in game it's good to finally see a game were a shotgun can actually kill someone from 20 feet away like you could in real life. Plus outside of those OP guns most of the guns are actually very balanced. P90, Mp7, bizen, mk2, kar98 k, EBR, scar, ak47, kilo. There are tons of great guns in the game and almost every gun in this game feel good to use honestly. But of course you loose to an M4. Just like you would normally in real life going up against a trained marine with an M4.
@@slayridah and for warzone, alot of the less used guns are actually very good to use in warzone. I find myself using the M13 alot more than I do in normal multiplayer because it has literally 0 kick to it, the origin shotgun can have an argument for being better than the 725 in warzone due to magazine size and how quickly it shoots, and honestly the MP7 is better than the MP5 in warzone to me personally due to ammo capacity and very little kick. Also the AUG is pretty good too if you have 5.56 ammunition in it. But of course these are all opinions and I'm sure you dont agree with all them
For these 2 guns... Maybe. Battlefield dominates (or used to, until they whiffed with bfv) the sandbox shooter category because their game is balanced for it. Full autos have limited range because of accuracy and recoil limitations. Warzone, and MW specifically, have no such limitations. Autos are absurdly accurate even at extremely long range. A mounted AR can send a continuous stream of bullets with ridiculous accuracy out to very long ranges. Try and snipe on battlefield with an AR. It wont work. If COD is going to shift into the sandbox genre to compete with BF, they need to balance the game accordingly. Automatics need a MASSIVE range and accuracy nerf. Put in some realistic bullet velocity and some actual recoil, not this purely visual BS that they call recoil. A good sniper on MW/Warzone would get laughed out of the lobby on a battlefield game if they tried sniping.

Anyone annoyed with snipers, just run cold blooded and a 3x scope and you're basically invisible to most of them. So many people spot snipers due to scope glint as well as your signature on their thermal scope.

That is why I don’t run thermal sights for my sniper. Can be very useful but someone running cold blooded can screw you pretty easily.

HDR all day the AX-50 does an amazing job in multiplayer with the quick ADS but when you’re pickin targets off at 500 m you need the bullet velocity that the HDR brings to the table

I think the AX-50 is better. Sure, the HDR is better for extreme range sniping due to its higher bullet velocity, but most fights aren’t going to take at that range. The AX-50 is just more practical for most fights you’ll get in. If you’re gonna play as a true sniper, take the HDR, if you’re gonna run and gun, take the AX-50. It can also take a lot more attachments than the HDR and can be kitted to make up for some of its weaknesses.

I absolutely agree with you and also I'm very sure that the HDR bullet velocity will get nerfed at some point when everyone absolutey starts abusing the HDR for easier sniping and the community starts complaining about it, so you might as well just stick to the AX50 now and get used to its bullet drop and you'll be ready after that nerf :D

i find my self hitting myself hitting my shots way more with the HDR than the AX-50. But i find myself sniping 200+ meters and bullet is very minimal with the HDR. AX-50 has a noticeable bullet drop right before 200 meters so which is why i prefer the HDR. But the AX-50 scope smacks 😌

if you look closely the HDR actually has less of a fish-eye lens than with the AX-50 with the default scope. I know its a small detail, but when scoped in and looking around, it does make a difference.

Honestly I prefer the AX-50 over the HDR because it feels smoother, and you can add more attachments to it that help reduce the ADS time. It’s overall the better sniper at closer ranges, and with the longest barrel, you shouldn’t really have to worry about bullet drop until 200m-250m (I’m not sure about these stats, I’ve never actually tested it). And once you go past around 250m, you don’t actually HAVE to fight people (unless if you’re going for high kill games of course), as unless they have a sniper themselves, you don’t have to worry about them killing you. If you’re like me, who usually goes for wins, then I would say use the AX-50. If you want to frag out, I would recommend the HDR.
Consider the other attachments when using the snipers: The AX-50 can use stippled grip, but the HDR cannot.

Braxton Conley it takes 7 shots at its max damage range. Does 41 damage per shot, 250/41=6.1ish, which means ya need 7. I used so I’m rounds for a little bit too and loved how fast it killed, especially with stopping power. However if you miss at all, you’re often screwed
Braxton Conley aug 5.56 is pretty dirty. But personally I just use the standard M4 because not missing shots is really important, and my accuracy with that weapon is pretty solid. As is everyone’s I’m sure. Just won my first solo game today with M4 and HDR
Two more things to consider:
- The HDR has a stock attachment (FTAC Champion) that removes almost all of its idle sway, but I don't think the AX-50 has an attachment like that.
- The highest possible zoom level on the HDR (12.5x i think, zoomed in with variable zoom) is higher than that of the AX-50 (12x I think).

All I can say from my experience in warzone is that the ax-50 works better for me. I tried the HDR but didn't do well with it. I switched to the ax-50 and got way more hits in and even won a couple of times. Yes there were times where my ax-50 just couldn't hit people super far away, but those people were not a big threat just bc they were so far.

I've been someone who has been preaching about how the EBR is underrated for a while and its my favorite gun to use in multiplayer. I think its absolute garbage in warzone though.
The EBR 14 is a 5 shot kill to the body in warzone, you can test this on the bots in a custom game by putting them up to 250 health (aka 100 plus 3 armor plates). But the headshot multiplier is pretty nasty allowing you to drop full health players in just 2 headshots.
It isn't a 5 hit kill u don't know what you did but it was wrong it removed armour in 2 guys to the chest and then two hits the chest for a down , it's been a two hit to the chest in mp since release.
You didn’t mention at all that the HDR has less ADS attachments than the AX-50. With the stippled grip tape, the AX-50 is significantly quicker than the HDR.

I used to prefer the AX-50, but the HDR really grew on me... I've been getting some headshots out to around 350 m, where everything in my scope is a poorly rendered blur-blob. Also got a hit at about 500 m once, but it took more shots than I care to admit.
Honestly if you aren't a confident sniper the HDR is the better option, if you want to go for a slightly higher risk/high reward scenario, the AX-50 is where it's at judging from this video!

High reward = higher firerate so you have more followup shots to make up for the extra skill/risk required.

@@xxtadaz that's not what he means. Just use the 5.56 30 round mags, the longest barrel, and the CQB Tac Comb stock. Everything else is personal preference. I like the 3.0x integral sight. You could also throw on stippled grip or a compensator/vert grip to control the vertical recoil if you have a hard time with it.
Future video suggestion. FN FAL vs EBR for mid to long range engagements. I'm finding a trio with 2 bolts and 1 DMR to be very very effective (as it was in PUBG). DMR hits a few shots and then bolty only has to center mass hit for a down (or vice versa). EDIT: Trios only, not talkin solos.
EBR is probably better for sniping, but the fal is more practical.
EBR is better than FAL but only uses sniper bullets so you don’t get much ammo so for that reason FAL

I've been reading in damage charts online that the K98 does 154 damage up close. Anybody know if this is true? Would that actually give it even better damage, or are the charts flawed?
It's true. It deals more damage to the chest up close but it drops off fairly early on and it doesn't have the same headshot potential as the AX or HDR.

The ax-50 also has the ability to equip more ads speed attachments than the hdr to counteract the slower ads times. I still find the hdr to be a more consistent 1 shot. That's why it's my go to in search and in br.
In MP, it's AX-50 all day. Quicker ADS is so crucial to combat M4's and MP5's constantly spraying at you with pinpoint accuracy. I'm still back and forth for WZ, cause my shots are pretty consistent headshots with both snipers.
@@ImThe5thKing yeah the only reason I choose the hdr in most cases in wz is because idle away is worse on the ax-50 and the ax has to be dressed for longer ranges to feel comfortable for me. The hdr however, I just take the laser off and throw on the dual zoom scope and I'm good to go.

I've used both, the HDR feels like you get more reliable all purpose rifle as it 1-shot downs consistently at longer ranges whereas the AX-50 is a nice squad rifle since follow ups are faster.

Definitely, I was dropping people at long range with the SVD in 3, due to the 4x PSO scope actually having a proper rangefinder. Once I got used to a suppressor, I was sitting way off somewhere, ranging enemy snipers then popping them in the head.
I was never in the AX-50 fan club. The 50 Cal seems to be very overated in many of these games. Honestly, I feel the AX-50 should do more damage to offset it's negatives compared to the HDR bit that's just me.

i just started grinding getting all attachments for all my sniper rifles, and the ax 50 had so much bullet drop for me. it’s wayyyyy to inconsistent for me too, and i love the hdr
I started using the EBR in Warzone and I think it can 1 shot through all 3 armor plates with a headshot.
I gotten some 1 shots but there's no way for me to tell if they are fully plated but all it needs is one shot.
I've tested this and it can't one shot an enemy with full armor, even with a headshot.

I'm not 100% certain if the Dragunov can one shot against full armor up close but I definitely remember getting a headshot hitmarker (with no down) at a longer range so it's not a guaranteed 1 shot to the head at least, unlike with the AX and the HDR.

When I first started playing I was using the ax 50 I had all the ranges set up for the exact mil dots and then I picked up the HDR and never look back🤣🤣
I feel like these snipers are almost perfectly balanced to both be viable, with small differences that make you really think about what kinda stats you wanna prioritize.
It would be nice with a semiauto .50 Barrett M107 though. Not sure how they'd balance it (probably higher bullet drop, slower velocity, and maybe slightly lower damage) but I'm pretty sure it'd be really cool. (An L115A3, aka. AWM, aka. AWP but more powerful, would also be cool.)

I love how you chose the FAL as your primary. I love it, and I feel it offer great damage and decent fire rate. I set mine up as close to the Beefeater as possible, and use it with the .50 GS.

Personally I think the crossbow with explosive bolt is the best sniper, as long as you hit their body their dead. Plus the utility of explosive bolts comes quite in handy when vehicles happen to drive by 😈

Great video. Since the AX-50 has a much better standard scope, the AX-50 will pretty much always ADS faster than the HDR, since the HDR really needs another scope to be effective, making its ADS speed slower. So with the AX-50 you can easily get an ADS speed that is at least 67ms faster than the HDR while also having the faster fire rate; using the standard scope also saves a mod slot to use on something else, whereas you need to spend a slot on the HDR for a scope.
All in all, with these things accounted for, the HDR seems like it's the better option for long range, as you said, but the AX-50 is better all-around when using the standard scope, which is a good scope anyway.

I has this problem with HDR. I was so comfortable with HDR in Ground War and MP. And when I finally gold it. I moved to AX-50 I couldn't hit anything for a few matches because that lower bullet Velocity and drop. Now, Iam comfortable with AX-50 and can't return to HDR because ADS and all is slower then on my AX-50. But stil, I can pull out headshot above 150 meters easily. But in closer situation Iam trash with HDR right now.
EDIT: And Iam kinda sad. Because my best play of the games in Cyber/S&D were with HDR
Same I started with the AX 50 and now I can’t change, even with different barrels I’m missing a lot more shots now that I put a different barrel on it so I went back to stock and now I’m back to hitting head shots. I feel it’s hard to 0 in with the change of bullet velocity but maybe that’s just me.
I maxed my AX before learning all this so I'm on a level 14 HDR. Still shredding

There are so many good, actual, real large caliber precision rifles available that it’s sad they had to make up the HDR. The AX50 is an actual rifle.

@@xlordxsithxroyalmiller3185 the AX50 isn't a Barrett. Barrett is a company that does make .50 cal snipers but the AX50 is the gun in the game and the real one is made by Accuracy International. They are both chambered in .50 BMG.

Extremely good guide! Just wish you had tested these with commons setups, like an AX setup to improve range + ADS/mobility vs HDR with better ADS. In my opinion, HDR is really good for having fun hitting long ranges, but if you're playing to win, most of those 150m+ longshots aren't vital, while being really quick to hit direct battles with AX's quicker ADS and fire rate might win you games, specially if you're on the last 10 teams and you have to hit the right people.
Also another tip, get 2 similar loadouts, the first with overkill with sniper + AR with good accuracy and range like RAM, the other loadout with ghost/other perk you like for end circles. Get the one with overkill first, then buy/run to another loadout crate and get ghost
I feel like there are more attachments for the AX-50 that will improve aim down sight speed. because it has a grip attachment that the HDR doesn't have. I will probably try it today, using those bull barrels for the HDR to see how it changes recoil. I know the range drops off significantly but I don't aim that far with my snipers anyway. We shall see

Sniper? Take an M4, put the 10 round SOCOM ammo in, with a marksman barrel, monolithic suppressor, variable zoom scope and whatever other attachments you see fit. Zero drop and acts as an insanely busted DMR

A quick tip: Don't use thermal scope, use the default or the zoomable scope, because the thermal can't see trough windows and enemies with cold blooded perk can be hidden from you
In frame-tight sniper battles across the map the netcode and latency has more to do with who comes out on top, versus the rate of fire difference between the HDR & AX.

I've been grinding for gold hdr for a bit and totally forgot about bullet drop, projectile speed, and hit markers. HDR pro barrel and variable zoom shreds in multiplayer and in Warzone.

Use whatever feels more comfortable to you. If you feel like you do better with the AX-50, then use it, if you feel better with the HDR, then use it.

I've pretty much only used the AX50 and kar98k exclusively in MP (I have 4k kills with ax50, 2.5k with kar) but I have to admit the HDR feels better for Warzone
The HDR is an absolute beast in Warzone. I put the long barrel and sup on it with the variable zoom. Its gross the shots it can hit. Like you said its basically a hit scan for a really long ways.
I have a load out for both and I use them both all the time but the AX-50 is still my go to, I’ve always played battlefield so adjusting for bullet drop and where to lead on a target has never been an issue for me. If I’m honest my longest shot were made with an AX-50 and some of them were killing drivers in moving tac rovers. At the end of the day it comes down to the player. Whichever one you put more time behind at long range is the one you’ll know the best where to hold and lead shots. To me the AX-50 handles smoother and doesn’t seem to clutter my screen as much as the HDR.
The Dragunov and EBR-14 have good enough bullet velocities and the same 1-shot headshots at extreme ranges. Especially if you’re depending on follow up shots, they might actually be the best for you, and I use them pretty often. Real-life soldiers agree and often use a SCAR-H, M21, or something similar for typical long ranges.
Most people aren’t running flinch resistance. So like with BF4, the best sniper is a counter sniper class. The EBR or the FAL with thermal. No scope glint, fast fire rate, etc. If you have good aim, you can out snipe snipers all day.
I really like the HDR but my personal skill is definitely with the AX-50.
That better re centering usually guarantees me that dual hit kill when handling the AX.
When using the variable scopes, i find myself having more confidence in my aim with the AX as i adjust for distancing head shots.
I was using marksman rifles the most up until recently and I started using the HDR first. That thing was taking people OUT. The marksmen rifles would make people go down but I felt like many were just tagged. I am using the AX50 just to see the differences and it has its upsides but the HDR has been way better so far.
I personally like the ax-50 more for long range sniping because 500-550m is right on the bottom of the crosshairs when using variable zoom. It’s a perfect mark for getting people out of the tower from a safe distance
Thanks Ace! I was doing a bunch of testing in there last night. Trying to figure out which one works best in my hands. Ended up AX for me. But I need to unlock more for the hdr.
In short, the ax50 basically handles better in every way besides actual ballistic profile. It has a slightly faster rof, default scope zooms in more and gives a clearer peripheral, it's shots reset to where you shot vs the hdr which points you to the sky after each shot. The hdr has a way flatter trajectory and shorter travel time which makes really long shots easier. There's other stuff but those are the main determinants
Not to be that guy, but 98-102 damage difference is huge. The distance window is small, but that's completely neglecting a critical damage breakpoint (no armor killshot)
Still a great video. I'm now going to give the HDR a shot, I'm a sucker for handling speed but this seems like a worthwhile compromise

I use both, when im just feeling like camping at a high tower is use HDR if i want to actually help my team i use AX50. I lean more towards AX50 though, the rechamber speed being the main reason. Surprised about the ads time though i could swear the AX50 has way faster ads, but than we have people like you who actually do the math and help me out this dream :P
