- This is the long awaited release of the Complete Season 2 Episodes of the The Irate Gamer show! These episodes have been upscaled into HD, I fixed many timing issues, color corrections, and a few other things while keeping the episodes as close to the original as possible. I also offer up commentary on each episode, talk about the awards won on each episode, the history of the show, and some of the avgn controversies. Enjoy these episodes like your watching them for the very first time all over again! (2007-2008)

The irate gamer show was one of my favorite back when RUclips was just starting. I wasn't aware about the whole criticism on his character and most importantly to his person. I just enjoyed every single video because it was just fun. I learned a lot from those videos...my english has even improved during that period of time due to show like this!

believe it or not but I first discovered Chris back in 2008 and didnt know anything about AVGN. I discovered AVGN in one meme about Battletoads pause music.

The funny thing about Irate Gamer is that he's different from the nerd in many ways. Irate Gamer is just a gamer, whereas AVGN is both a gamer and a nerd. Literally ANY game can piss off the Irate Gamer regardless of if it's good or bad, while AVGN is a masochist when it comes to bad games and has an addiction to them. Of course Irate still hates bad games like AVGN does, but in many ways he does feel very different despite being inspired by him.
Love how you described the two and killed those who try to say that irate was a copy of avgn. Irate gamer is relatable to every gamer because we love yet hate every game regardless on how good it is and depending on our mood. Seriously, great explanation.
Season 2 was one of my personal favorite seasons from you, I still re-watch it

Still one of the funniest things I've ever heard. The R.O.B. episode was truly great.
"Now, along with the robot comes a whole shitload of accessories." I have no idea why that line makes me crack up so much. I've always laughed at that line as a kid and it still makes me laugh now!
Chris really is a standout , him and a few others like console wars, the are legit fans and generally good guys who do things with passion and should have more subs, now i have 1 hour and 26 minutes of fun, so thank u Chris, u are a blessing in these dark times, keep them coming, we salute u.
So the Japanese version of Contra actually came with a backstory of how it began, for some reason Konami removed the story in the US NES release.
The Japanese version of contra also had a backstory, a map screen, and some more animation also.

14:19 This is actually a really good take on the concept of angry reviews. With AVGN the point seemed that he was always way too angry, and that's where the comedy lies. A grown ass man being enraged at a kid's game from the 80s, to the point where it ruined his life. I feel like people put a bit too much belief into the words of angry reviewers when the emphasis is on comedy, rather than review.
at the end he did the same by "reviewing" Super Mario Bros 3 which is a good game.

The commentaries are gold. Not only is it cool to get some behind the scenes info about the old videos but also it's kinda heartwarming to see how much fun you had making them. I mean, the show did have its flaws, like, i dunno, some jokes that weren't timed too well or research errors but still there was a unique charm to all this.
Its still great to see you back. I loved your reviews back then along side avgns. Good to see you how you stuck to your guns

This commentary series has been a blast to watch so far. It's like a trip down memory lane with some great insight as to what sort of thought processes and work went into the conception of these episodes.

The reason why I first subscribed and followed your channel was because of the video game history videos you made! I love those videos!!! But I do also enjoy seeing your irate videos as well! It’s neat to hear your thoughts on how you felt about season 2 and the hate that you quietly ignored. Keep up the good work! I’d love to see a ninja gaiden review... if you haven’t done that already, I can’t remember if you did or not.

I remember being a huge avgn fan at the time. And searching his site everyday to see if he would review ROB the robot. One day that searching brought me to your video, it was the only real ROB Video on youtube. I proceeded to watch everyone of your videos from that point forward.

Just as fun to watch now as it was then, without the cringy & juvenile RUclips politics from the haters. I think most of them actually...grew up. I unfortunately was one of those silent haters. I also thought you were just a copycat. As I grew up and matured I realized the effort you were putting in to be unique and entertaining. It was when you did Mario’s missing and time machine episodes I finally subscribed.
I want to apologize for my rash thinking back then. You were trying your best and I silently hated you for it. I’m sorry Chris, I’m happy that you kept on going and didn’t give up. You showed me what innovation looks like and I thank you for it.

I remember this Period being the one where I subbed to your channel, I even remember asking some dumb question (being a dumb teen back then LOL) regarding potentially making an episode about a game in your DMs and you actually replied, too. The fact that you replied to DMs and took so much care of your fanbase throughout all the years really means a lot and shows who you are as a person, Chris. Off-topic for a sec, I actually was watching cable TV with my mom (cause she prefers that over internet still lol) and in one of the show reviews there was a ghost hunting show featuring you! And I told her all about your stuff and she liked it a lot, but I digress. Thank you for being the amazing person you are and always have been and take care! @@irategamer I don't remember what show it was exactly, but I'm pretty sure it was on TLC Germany which has shows such as "Celebrity Ghost Stories", "Homes of Horror" and "Scary Videos - Truth or Fake" (the last one being roughly translated, so excuse any differences in titles). My guess is that it was part of the latter, I only saw a snippit of it during commercial break and recognized you. The show seems to revolve around internet videos about paranormal activities being reviewed it seems, I haven't watched it so I couldn't 100% tell. I'll look into it more though and maybe find the clip they showed.
Also, massive congratulations on being a dad now! It's so fascinating to see how far we've all come throughout the past 14 to 16 years.

Back then, a friend told me, when you filled the screen on Tetris, a message will pop up saying "you have succesfully built the castle. Now the king and queen will have a place to live" many years I believe that, until I saw that episode. It was a revelation xd
I became a fan and starter really following you (and never cared about comparing you to "the other guy") AFTER this season because of the Contra episodes...They were just FUN to watch :))) Never thought of you "picking on Contra" or ranting with a reason..The WAY you make these Contra episodes was the fun deal for us. Since then I'm a fan.

Hey Chris :P i noticed you mentioned you upscaled to HD? you should use topaz video ai. if you have decent gpu to handle it then that will give you a true upscale to HD. also to de interlace properly use staxrip and QCGMT plug in it perfectly converts to 60fps progressive. keep on shining Chris! you are the equivalent of andy deframe crawling though 500 yards of crap and coming out clean on the other side :P
