I highly recommend buying firebricks for the grill table. Trust me it is going to protect the metal and it will retain heat better when cooking.

Great content. I'm thinking of getting this same Santa Maria Grill rom Backyard Discovery. How do you like it? Any issues with it?

@glenm5679 i really like it alot it's alot of fun to cook on with great flavor, the only down side is the bar you see over the fire bricks. It can get in the way but not a deal breaker you can check it out on Amazon

@@5thwheelBBQ that was exactly what I was worried about. When I saw that bar, I thought that it might get in the way of spreading out the coals. It looks to be very good quality for the price though. Thanks for your reply.

@glenm5679 I reached out to backyarddiscovery about the bar if it's necessary, this was there response
It is very much indeed. This piece
was added after we began to see
issues where the coal pan would flex
a bit and would cause further
      issues with the raising/lowering
      mechanism.

@@5thwheelBBQ ahhhh.. that makes sense. I thought it was for stability of the grates so that it would stay sturdy when raising and lowering.
