I can't even express how cool it was to see Shephard in uniform again. And those custom voice lines, they're incredible. Top notch. I'm just hoping there's gonna be some H.E.C.U references here and there. Especially people realizing Shephard is wearing fatigues. I don't know if any sort of PTSD would be good to include as if seeing some sort of stuffs from the past...flashback wise? I don't know. But wouldn't hurt to know Shephard is a unique protagonist in this story. Not just any player you get into a suit and start killing enemies solving some puzzles. Besides the point, you gotta change how Shephard holds his weapons such as the combine's pistol. I love the way you handled the way he's holding deagle though. I can't wait to see what you're gonna do if there's any unique weapons such as M16 or M4A1 involved. That would be the best rather than seeing an SMG.
I will fight to the end (hopefully). This mod has been changed 4 time already and it's been going since 2018. There won't be any M16 or M4A1 in the mod tho, but what you saw in that video is just a peak, there will be a lot cooler stuff to show of in the future!

@@Troalinism both. I made Desert Eagle at least being a part of armory of that Citizen who you meet up with but for the rest of weapons I don't know how would I introduce them. And also I think SMG1 is already enough I want to avoid to add too many weapons
considering that only shephard's teammates were after freeman to kill him, shephard didn't seem to care about freeman even because he doesn't know and doesn't even know what Freeman is capable of, even because he only met gordon once, but I find it interesting that it may be that in this mod he realizes that gordon was more than just a scientist

Damn the Gman had no chill, he just dropped Adrian with all his military gear wich makes him highly recognizable to Metrocops, Citizens and the Combine alike but it still better than running around in citizen clothes or naked. I wonder how Eli, Kleiner or even Barney would react by seeing an HECU soldier 20 years into the future after all military forces of Earth were merged into the Overwatch. It would be like seeing a ghost or they would think that he's some madman in military gear. Also, Shephard appearing at the start of the Uprising during the week Alyx and Gordon went missing after Nova Prospekt's destruction would be a good reference to him arriving at the time of "Surface Tension" in the original game.
Well they have Gordon as young as 20 years ago suddenly appear out of nowhere, i dont think a random dude with HECU uniform (in most main cast eyes) appeared in middle of all chaos can be more weird

The way I always interpreted it is that the G-Man has a special liking for Adrian that he doesn't necessarily have for gordon. While Gordon gets more done, and it's probably more highly requested by his bosses, Adrian has always been his favorite. So that to me would be the reason why he let him have all of his gear. Judging by the reactions of the citizens, people probably see him as a madman with military gear.
i love the voice acting, gman and kleiner sound good, also using existing npc dialogue is cool and the voice of some the new ones are spot on with the other voices
Might I suggest calling the unnamed chapter at 7:30 "Fractured Ecosystem", this is because this is the first chance Shephard gets at seeing just how the bad alien invasion is on Earth, with headcrab zombies everywhere. This chapter show's that Earth is no longer the same. I love the idea of this mod, and have been thinking up a large scale sequel to Opposing Force myself for a long time. Don't stop my man, it's time Corporal Shephard completes one last mission.
5:25 Ok just wanna say that ambush scene looks really good seeing people from city 17 ambushing the combine in a small force and fighting back like that is really cool!
Seeing Adrian still keeping his uniform, and his iconic gloved hands in first person gave me a smile. I hope this mod keeps getting worked on. Opposing Force was one of the main reasons I liked Half-Life as much as I did. My only gripe with the mod is that the music doesn't have that "military techno feel" from the classic Opposing Force but it's not a deal breaker. Everything else is superb
Dude, I'd be down for some classic style militaristic techno in this mod in areas where there's a lot of enemies, like combine soldiers and then Shepherd just mows ’em down with an M249 or whatever Lmg we get in this mod, while a remixed version of Storm from the classic ost plays in the background.

Most people that know him were soldiers that were send to Black mesa. And if part of "Conscripts" background is still cannon, HECU survivors propably got transfered to Combine, or created their own Resistance, because after Black Mesa Incident i literaly cant see HECU remnant cooperate with Vortigaunts

This is already good from the beginning. Everything has been done right from the beginning on The game lets the player view the environment first. Get to know what situation you are in. All half life games have been doing it and I'm glad this mod provides the same
Fun fact: if you are at full ammo and throw a pistol into the same room with the female citizen at 3:59 she will pick it up and immediately turn hostile to the player and shoot.
The mod looks very good, also i will love if they add different animations for weapons like the official expansion of HL having a different reloading for the MP5.
@@zombine7103 Because I prefer HL1. It has a much higher replay value for me. I guess there's something intriguing about the clustrophobic underground tunnels of Black Mesa facility. I could play Opposing Force every single day. HL1 also has a much more mods worth playing. I have replayed HL2 and episodes about a year ago (for the sixth time), then through Ravenholm with some weapon mods out of curiosity. I honestly don't feel the need to play core HL2 again soon. So I've uninstalled it.

Mods that you should play on steam are: Minerva metastasis, transmissions: element 120, entropy: zero, year long alarm, downfall, snowdrop escape. And many that are not released but will be released on steam: operation black mesa, half life decay solo mission, entropy: zero 2.
This doesn't look cool, this looks amazing! And most importantly it's promising, it certainly has a feeling of a real half life, not what it was in... Let's not talk about opposing force 2. Mostly I appreciate the mapping, it was done by true hl fans, route canals and the cl convoy are just beautiful, not gonna say that I don't like some parts or some daletails like canal walls looking empty, too many fences and not enough dirt like in the original but still it's incredible! Keep up the good work mate

Finally! I've been seeing this on moddb after clicking on an image of a sort of, custom strider concept art for the mod, I think called the Destroyer. Seeing that and this just really hypes me up and goes to show what new and cool things the dev(s) will be bringing to the table.
Dunno, call it something HF1 related since he encountered the zombies again, overall looks good! Also the mod got added today, talk about post haste lol.
I look forward to seeing what we will continue to do for this mod ! Everything from the beginning is done according to the rules of the art. We listen to player feedback and change the story/gameplay accordingly. I only work on the concept arts of this mod, but it's an honor to see that the whole team puts their heart into it !

Daamn looking at those strider sidewalk scenes, and the way strider used instead of hunter(helicopter) as danger to avoid while running to the exit through small obstacles (end of video) really brings back that feel of first time playing half-life 2 running from helicopter to the sewers.
Since this is an HL2 mod You should put the mod into the sourcemods folder then restart steam and it should appear in your steam library and you can play it Also the proper source sdk just like the guy below me said.
If Adrian and Gordon met, they would trigger each other's PTSD. Gordon moreso seeing as he fought the HECU, whereas Adrian only saw the back of Gordon for about three seconds but was dropped into Black Mesa in the first place because of him.
I think Adrian should have more of his old weapons with him cuz gman took gordens cuz they are not his in that case but in Adrians case its his arsenal and I think more citizens should think that he is a combine cuz of his gas mask
I don't even know where to start with how this mod looks already, it carries over some of the spectacular environmental story telling that the games are known for, the dialogue (whilst rough at times) is still believable and the interactions they have with shepard contribute to immersion. the animation work seems incredible, I love how rather than trying to make the quality of the deagles animation better, they've just blended it in with the other animations so it doesn't stand out. The amount of effort put into the little details of this mod seem incredible, and I expect something amazing when the developers are finished.
I like the touch of basic voice responses. For Freeman, they are like "Hey, hi nice guy, let me help you" or straight up praise and wish to help by everyone, as is he is the legend. And then there's Shepard in military suit no one saw much, getting sour looks and straight up "GET AWAY FROM ME!" as he looks like a freak. Even the person helping him is kinda not a big fan of Shepard
Glad they got someone that sounds damn near exactly like the actual Gman VA, although he doesn’t get the voice mannerisms down as well as either of the two that were in Black Mesa
A small detail I would have added is for Adrian to have ALL of his original weapons. So instead of the USP of HL 2 to have a rusty or slightly damaged Glock from Black Mesa and instead of the MP7 for him to either have an MP5 with grenade launcher and EOTECH sight (given he's a highly trained military) or an M4
Voice acting is very on point, ofc the player model is amazing, as for story i just don't know, i hope it's refined and ofc much more interesting in terms of how Adrian's story plays out in that type of timeline. Also on the note, i wish maps had more puzzles or something interesting going on because running and gunning enemies only is a bit repetitive. I hope they use source engine up to it's limitations to use everything fun included, physics and so on. This mod is not much of a hype but a hope nonetheless.
I like how theres so many high quality opposing force styled mods now with inhuman, through the city, snowdrop escape, entropy zero 2, and a fuck ton of entropy zero 1 mods
honestly i hope they make another half life spinoff like alyx where its adrien shepard but instead of vr its normal half life gameplay or vr both would be good
The concept is really really cool and the execution is even better. Well done! I feel like everyone are afraid of Shepherd's appearence because of the aftermath of the 7 Hour War. Almost all if not all military personnal got captured or killed, which led citizens to be afraid to work with military soldiers that are still alive. Adrian is the symbol of resistance in City 17, almost as strong as Gordon in that way. I bet the first thing Adrian probably thought about is what the hell happened to the military and probably trying to contact his unit, he probably didn't realized yet that about 20 years has passed since he was last woken up. I feel like Shepherd in City 17 is a more unfortunate story than Gordon because at least Gordon remembered few scientists from Black Mesa but Shepherd literally has no ne left that he knows of. Altho I will say Kleiner's message on the radio probably made Shepherd persue Freeman again so he can give him some answers about what is going on. I think this fan-made story can make more sense than Return to Ravenholm altho I do wish to see both stories being made.
I would love if the guy you meet comments on your uniform, saying something like "I haven't seen a uniform like that in...well I don't remember how long."
I decided to name the part where you get the desert eagle the "deagle run" because the music just kicks up and all that's left is a pile of dead metro cops
i think an interesting way to bring classic weapons back atleast the USMC ones would be have like one or two encounters where people offer shepard a new weapon like shown deagle but make it a choice both to encourage replay and so you dont bloat the sandbox swap the ammo spawns downwind so to speak depending on the choice have the m16 function like an AR2 but that uses SMG grenades in the 203 have the mp5 be a slower firing smaller magazine size but more accurate competitor to the SMG1 and make the deagle do a little less damage than the revolver and be less accurate but have a higher fire rate essentially make them alternatives but you have to choose which sandbox pieces you want to switch out say you grab an MP5 no more SMG1 for you or m16 no AR2 you get the idea

Daamn looking at those strider sidewalk scenes, and the way strider used instead of hunter(helicopter) as danger to avoid while running to the exit through small obstacles (end of video) really brings back that feel of first time playing half-life 2 running from helicopter to the sewers.

You should put the mod into the sourcemods folder then restart steam and it should appear in your steam library and you can play it

If Adrian and Gordon met, they would trigger each other's PTSD.
Gordon moreso seeing as he fought the HECU, whereas Adrian only saw the back of Gordon for about three seconds but was dropped into Black Mesa in the first place because of him.
Also barney calhoun meeting Adrian, which would be ironic considering that the hecu was trying to kill the security guarda back then
When I play half-life Games I like to roleplay in my head as the character so I am really excited for this
I think Adrian should have more of his old weapons with him cuz gman took gordens cuz they are not his in that case but in Adrians case its his arsenal and I think more citizens should think that he is a combine cuz of his gas mask
I don't even know where to start with how this mod looks already, it carries over some of the spectacular environmental story telling that the games are known for, the dialogue (whilst rough at times) is still believable and the interactions they have with shepard contribute to immersion. the animation work seems incredible, I love how rather than trying to make the quality of the deagles animation better, they've just blended it in with the other animations so it doesn't stand out. The amount of effort put into the little details of this mod seem incredible, and I expect something amazing when the developers are finished.
I like the touch of basic voice responses. For Freeman, they are like "Hey, hi nice guy, let me help you" or straight up praise and wish to help by everyone, as is he is the legend.
And then there's Shepard in military suit no one saw much, getting sour looks and straight up "GET AWAY FROM ME!" as he looks like a freak. Even the person helping him is kinda not a big fan of Shepard
Glad they got someone that sounds damn near exactly like the actual Gman VA, although he doesn’t get the voice mannerisms down as well as either of the two that were in Black Mesa

While when they see Adrian they think hes a threat just like the combine
we would definitely need a scene wher cliner or any of the surviving blackmesa scientists or guards react to you

A small detail I would have added is for Adrian to have ALL of his original weapons. So instead of the USP of HL 2 to have a rusty or slightly damaged Glock from Black Mesa and instead of the MP7 for him to either have an MP5 with grenade launcher and EOTECH sight (given he's a highly trained military) or an M4
Voice acting is very on point, ofc the player model is amazing, as for story i just don't know, i hope it's refined and ofc much more interesting in terms of how Adrian's story plays out in that type of timeline. Also on the note, i wish maps had more puzzles or something interesting going on because running and gunning enemies only is a bit repetitive. I hope they use source engine up to it's limitations to use everything fun included, physics and so on. This mod is not much of a hype but a hope nonetheless.

I think a cool idea would be allowing the player to kill anybody, just like Half-Life, since nobody here is really of importance to Shepard.

The concept is really really cool and the execution is even better. Well done! I feel like everyone are afraid of Shepherd's appearence because of the aftermath of the 7 Hour War. Almost all if not all military personnal got captured or killed, which led citizens to be afraid to work with military soldiers that are still alive. Adrian is the symbol of resistance in City 17, almost as strong as Gordon in that way. I bet the first thing Adrian probably thought about is what the hell happened to the military and probably trying to contact his unit, he probably didn't realized yet that about 20 years has passed since he was last woken up. I feel like Shepherd in City 17 is a more unfortunate story than Gordon because at least Gordon remembered few scientists from Black Mesa but Shepherd literally has no ne left that he knows of. Altho I will say Kleiner's message on the radio probably made Shepherd persue Freeman again so he can give him some answers about what is going on. I think this fan-made story can make more sense than Return to Ravenholm altho I do wish to see both stories being made.

i think an interesting way to bring classic weapons back atleast the USMC ones
would be have like one or two encounters where people offer shepard a new weapon like shown deagle
but make it a choice
both to encourage replay
and so you dont bloat the sandbox
swap the ammo spawns downwind so to speak depending on the choice
have the m16 function like an AR2 but that uses SMG grenades in the 203
have the mp5 be a slower firing smaller magazine size but more accurate competitor to the SMG1
and make the deagle do a little less damage than the revolver and be less accurate but have a higher fire rate
essentially make them alternatives
but you have to choose which sandbox pieces you want to switch out
say you grab an MP5 no more SMG1 for you
or m16 no AR2
you get the idea
