Both likable, recommended sampling but if you see it for low and discounted price, it’s up there with the better fresh JV scents so pretty much you get what you expect.
I am happy with my XXA.

VICTORIAAAAA! Fun times. I just dropped my first impressions of XX Artisan; I dig it. It's funny...the opening is very different of XX Artisan than the drydown; I'm a fan of the drydown.
I enjoyed this quick video we’re you compare just two or three fragrances. And Victoria is always fun to watch when she evaluates

JV is an underrated/slept on house.
Often performance issues but the scents are good for the price.

😂She's adorable. Fragrantica lists apple and cardamom as prominent opening notes for XX. Did u get that as well?
100% but it’s not a stand out apple note at all. Feels blended into the other notes. It’s nice 👍

The magician's scent. 😉 I have high hopes for XX Artisan. Pretty good line imo.
It’s unique for sure. Reminds me so much of an Aqua di Parma style of fragrance. JV artisan Pure is similar to ADP Colonia Pura. This reminds me of something that would fit in the Colonia Line. Good stuff if you are into that style of fragrance.

It's crazy it smells so much like a fall candle at first then after a few days it kinda reminds me of a perfume..

She picked up on the citrus on top and the green, woody vetiver in the mid, as a “piney vibe”. Definitely a classier, gentleman vibe.
Bummer she doesn’t like it.

We did a stronger with you vs by the fireplace as one of our first few videos. We don’t own the intense version of SWY as we prefer the original, so until covid allows more sampling in the stores that carry it, it might be a while 😒

Both very good releases from JV. Very different scents so they’ll fit many different preferences in scents!

When is artisan xx gonna come to other stores. There are zero bloomingdales where i live and i refuse to pay full price for this without sampling.

I thought Varvatos went bankrupt , maybe new owner now?? I was not too crazy about original Artisan Pure when I got it this last summer but learned to appreciate it , very green and tropical at the same time (still think its very close DNA to 4711 - the oldest cologne in the history)
I believe the bankruptcy didn’t affect the fragrances as it’s a separate company I believe. But it takes a while to go out of business so who knows.
The xx gives me a coconut vibes but like a subtle citrus behind it.

Glad I'm not the only one that didn't care for Artisan XX. I blind bought it based on the hype and because the silver bottle looked so cool. I was expecting something fresh and citrus like their other fragrances but to me it smells like dark woods and spice. It reminds me of Encre Noire, which I hate. LOL. Definitely a Fall, gothic vibe and not for Summer use. On top of it not smelling great, I could barely detect it immediately after spraying it. Had fleeting projection and longevity. I wish I had seen this review or sampled it first. No disrespect to anyone that likes it, but this one was not for me.
Just once I'd like to see JV come out with a scent that performs.I have Vintage, and it smells great but just doesn't last long enough. 😊

Do these have the typically poor performance that John Varvatos fragrances are known for?
Only tested twice on arm, didn’t notice anything poor performance wise. XX is best suited for cuddly date night. XX artisan is more a good safe office citrus or spring/summer vibe.

You guys are definitely not pros at analyzing fragrances. The XX is pretty darn good and what you're smelling is vetiver and cedar. Great spring to summer scent.
@@HardRockinJohnny this is a fragrance compliment test. Finding out what fragrances women prefer to smell on man. This is not a review.
