We just love seeing what's new with all the puppies! Harrison (my eldest) said "when will Miss Shawn use Bama in her intro?" ;-) So I told him I would pass his comment/question along. They are all getting so big!

Thanks again for another update on the puppies, and I saw Mocha trying to get in on the video a few times. Dazzle's puppies are growing fast and adorable. I had to dog sit a hound this weekend and it felt great, but I am still a schnauzer lover and addicted to the SVCC videos.

Both are 10 lbs and I expect all these puppies to be 8 - 12 lbs full grown. An easy size to travel with!
Hi Shawn, when and how can you tell which puppies are going to be miniature or toy size?
I have a formula we use here where we weigh puppies at 6, 8 and 12 weeks and use the outcomes from those 3 weights to predict adult weight but what I find best is looking at the parents and grandparents and usually the weight will be in that range.

My black toy schnauzer hates sun beating on her coat even in cool weather. Is this common in black or all colors?
Yes! Black absorbs the heat more and thus is more uncomfortable in sunshine - they can get over heated. If you are outside with a black dog in the sunshine, wet the coat to keep the dog cool.

What an excellent idea. Our girl loves to play in the grass. Right now we have a temporary pen set up in the garage. We had thought about a baby pool, but we have such a problem with mosquitoes … maybe a sprinkler.
The mother sure doesn’t look good.🤔

tell me you’re a freaking BACKYARD BREEDER without telling me… not a single one of those pups appears to be on standard.. absolutely ridiculous. freaking educate yourself and if you still decide to breed, make sure you are BETTERING the breed, not producing consistently out of standard pups… the ONLY accepted coat colors are black and silver, salt and pepper and solid black. there should be absolutely ZERO TAN OR BROWN coloring on these “schnauzers”….
Thank you for your comment! I understand your perspective about the AKC Standard for Mini Schnauzers. I know many foundational breeders who follow the AKC standard and I respect the work they are doing. I also know many people, like me, who are bettering the breed by breeding dogs that are genetically healthy as our first priority - meaning not passing down any known genetic issues. When I breed I use Embark DNA to confirm that I am lowering the COI average for schnauzers. The current average for Mini Schnauzers is 26% which is very high for a breed. Many of my dogs have a COI in the teens. Yes, you and I both have a strong desire to breed better dogs and to continue to improve the health and well being of our dogs. Several years ago I learned that the first schnauzers were bred from breeding many different breeds together. If you go back and look at the original records for schnauzers (which I have done) you will see lots of different colors! Sadly, many German breeders would KILL the puppies that weren't the right colors for killing rats and rodents - they wanted dark colored dogs for this purpose. Your comment suggests to me that you may not be familiar with my channel and what I am doing here. I invite you to get to know me a bit better before deciding that I am a "backyard" breeder. If you will take the time to get to know me and what I am doing you may change your mind. Again thank you for being willing to consider that I don't want to be like the German breeders who killed puppies due to their genetic traits that produced colors that did not line up with being great at rodent killing.
