  • Pondscapes of Charlotte installs a wetland bog filter on a koi pond. This was a great build we were able to do outside of charlotte, North Carolina. It will take time for the water to clear because we got it dirty during the construction but this filter should keep this koi pond looking great year round!

    These were a great group of hard working guys. The wetlands feature has made a huge difference in the quality of our pond water. Thank you Pondscapes of Charlotte!

    Appreciated the drone video footage during construction….I’ve seen several similar bog construction videos and the was first one where I could see how the intake pipe was brought into the centipede.

    Amazing! I like this look vs ponds that have an unnatural looking volcano at the end with a very loud and tall waterfall.
    It transitions nicely.

    We always add overlay too, over that liner, in case of any sharp edged aquablocs or the odd stray sharp stone.

    Nice result, yet so expensive. Special pipes and a digger for such a tiny hole?

    Have you ever experimented with a aquaponics system for groing food or trees?

    • @Pondscapes
      @Pondscapes  2 года назад

      We have grown many plants in wetland filters such as tomatoes, peppers, basil, and more with the plants only getting nutrients from the pond water!
      I would like to experiment more though with a traditional aquaponics system that uses pond water.

    Quick question can a reverse bog filter be built . Where the water will seep through the gravel down to the centipede to the pump and back up to the waterfall

      Interesting question, it can definitely can be built, but we have never done it that way when we are creating a filter for a pond. Let us know the results if you end up trying it.
      Sounds like it would be similar to a reservoir on a pondless waterfall except with more gravel. Which we build all the time.

    How do you clean the mud that accumulates at the bottom?

    • @Pondscapes
      @Pondscapes  Год назад

      We stick a cleanout pump in the vault and then rinse the wetland from the top down pumping out the dirty muddy water from the bottom of the clean out vault

    How many months do you need to clean it?

      Once a year we rinse it with pond water and pump it out using a clean out pump we put in the bottom of the vault

    I like it... except when it comes time to clean it...all the plants and washing from above... much less surface area for bacteria so much harder to clean out and all that heavy stone... God help me... it's a nightmare
