I've talked about the Dark Souls Bosses every which way possible - I've ranked the Souls Boss Difficulty across each game, Top 10 Hardest SoulS Bosses, Best Souls Bosses, Worst Souls Bosses, even the Easiest Souls Bosses, and done a quality ranking across the entire series (excluding Sekiro). So today I'm not doing that, instead I'll be "ranking" what I love and hate about the entire series. I've done this on an individual level for each game. Now it's time to share my thoughts on the series as a whole - specifically on some topics I've never fully addressed in a video. This is the final video before the Elden Ring train leaves the station. Stay tuned for plenty to come on that and more!

Final love letter before the Elden Ring hype train leaves the station. The content train is chugging along side it full steam ahead. Expect lots of Elden Ring content soon. Hope you enjoy your own playthroughs, fellow Tarnished!
sorry but you mentioned hisoka so this is a given.
but did you know that bungee gum has the properties of both rubber and gum.
Now tell me about texture surprise
See you in few weeks, gotta find everything by myself before I check yt for things I missed
@@fluke7506 I-I never knew this
I pray that on some off-chance, I get to see your player ghost in Elden Ring. Also, a few years back, you encouraged me to give Sekiro another chance and I’m glad I did, it’s a fantastic Souls game. Thank you!
Speaking of boss run backs, remember the one for Laurence the First Vicar? You had to run past mad hunters, dogs, a bell ringing Cthulhu fatty and a giant ball of fire in a literal uphill battle.
Runback to shadows of yharnam is also a pain in the ass. They are extremely difficult in higher ng cycles and the runback is excruciating
Dude, seriously. And he’s by far the boss I struggled with the most. I hate that fight. It always takes long af because I play so careful…which I wouldn’t feel like I had to do if the run back wasn’t so annoying.
@@ardasevmis7583nah, dude…that’s just a long run. It’s not like you have to worry about getting curbstomped by 10+ DLC scaling mobs. I think there’s like 1 snake guy and a pig, but they’re easy to run by.
@@jordancave3089 Finding your way through is the actually hard part, forbidden woods is like a maze
It was even more painful during my BL4 run. That damn cthulhu fatty caused me so many problems.
Solaire of Astora deserves his own spot as a LOVE. He was the first beacon of light and hope within a cruel unforgiving land. And if you follow his questline correctly, you get to fight with your new brother in arms against the first Lord of Cinder. While he may never find his own sun, he acted as all our suns.
\[T]/
It is crazy how this NPC from roughly 11 years ago is STILL the enduring face of the franchise. When you think Dark Souls, Solaire is one the first to come to mind.
Praise the Sun my friend
Maybe it is because DS1 wasn't my first game, but Solaire doesn't do much for me.

Demod, you have brought me pure happiness for like 4 years now dawg just showing my appreciation and respect for your craft homie have a great one, and may the elden ring grace you fellow tarnished
Same to you, cheers for all the support Justin!
Demod: "Engage in Jolly Cooperation and take on the world together, of course, players can also add to the brutal world by invading to steal your resources by force"
Me, a Mound Maker: "Same thing"
Mound makers: someone’s gonna die but it doesn’t have to be the host
@@InsanityBlitz im ripping out SOMEBODY'S spine, I dont care who!
The Automata music choice is A+
A tear came to my eye when you mentioned the community as I remembered the countless people who've helped me and who I've helped through these games in turn. Well fellows I will see you in jolly cooperation in elden ring. And to that guy who fought o and s with me ten times and joined halfway through that tenth run. That was the run partner. I got big o after that if you're reading this and I helped 3 people for every run you did with me buddy.
Not gona lie I wish I let ppl summon me through my elden ring first playthrough. But I just went on my own adventure and said “f them kids” 😂😂
Demod is officially back dropping those videos fast have been missing you man hope you been good
Been doing well all things considered. Hope you have too!
@@theDeModcracy glad to hear that can't wait for those elden rings videos. Will you stream the game?
A comprehensive list of things I hate:
•Dark Souls 2
•Dark Souls 2 Haters
•Poison Swamps
@Vegito Blue The two worst things ever shat into existence my man
One thing about elden ring that I love is how organic your character fits into the world. The fact that there are other tarnished with their own goals and personalities who actually can have somewhat branching paths and meetings is so new. Beyond that the way your character can change can create an organic story. I remember seeking the frenzy flame ending because it seemed cool, only to find it would lock me out of the other endings. so suddenly I became a tarnished with forbidden knowledge on a quest to break my curse.
THANK YOU for showing Darklurker when talking about HORRENDOUS run backs. I actually died to him once in my ten attempts of run backs on a LIGHTNING build, what he is WEAK to. In fact I hated it so much that I KILLED GRANDAHL to get the dragon chime over running back even one more time through Havel and rape ier fuckhead. I also didn’t know I didn’t have to do that specific one to get to him, and that knowledge I have now makes my hatred for havingto kill all the enemies to get to him EACH TIME and my stupidity at choosing the hardest run back EVEN WORSE!!! XD
Glad to see you making content on RUclips again. I'm really excited for your videos on Elden Ring, especially the bosses that I hope will be amazing. Can't wait to explore the lands between as a tarnished.
Haven’t even watched this yet but these types of videos are my favourite stuff from you Dmod, keep up the great content
You’re the reason I actually continued to play the souls series. I’d watch your boss rankings as a way to gain some insight on a boss that I would struggle on. With you my man, I wouldn’t be in love with these games today. Great video man, can’t wait for more.
I remember in DS2 that I loved the vibes of the fight with Aldia, so I had a time that I left my PS3 running with my character sitting near bonfire, written summon sign on the ground for others that needed help. Actually a lot of people summoned me and they could embrance the powerful aid of fully armored character with a big ass shield and sword, wearing that ring that makes your eyes glow and aggro enemies. The best feeling was tanking Aldia's fireball while the other player stood behind me - and this soundtrack. Damn I love this game...
I remember discovering your boss countdowns when the community boss rankings were coming out. It inspired me to get into the Souls series. Thanks for the 5 years, Demod.
Was worried as for a while there were barely any videos. Happy you're rolling them out again
Another part I’d add to loving losing your souls: when you lose them, you don’t have anything to worry about. You either successfully get your souls back and celebrate your (often narrow) victory, or you lose them and get angry and disappointed for a moment, and then can focus solely on the level/boss. It’s sort of genius. Often times when I’m exploring a level or fighting a boss and lose my souls, I can’t help but feel a sigh of relief and can go into the fight with a clearer head.
Also, seeing other players walking around with you really is my favorite thing in the souls series. It’s such a neat detail.
I agree! If it's early in the game where a little goes a long way, then I'll worry more about retrieving them. If it's later on, particularly if I've found a good farming spot or two, then I don't worry much. I've walked away from plenty of souls/echoes because I couldn't be bothered to go back for them (mainly in the case of the Old Hunters DLC). I had such trouble with the brainsuckers in the Upper Cathedral Ward and I lost a bunch of echoes, so I went to the Lecture Building and farmed up what I'd lost to that area because I felt I'd deserved it after that shitshow of an area.
Omigod so much new demod content!! Glad to see the fresh takes on the classics and can't wait for the new things to come! Hopefully I can catch a stream soon, till then fear the old blood.
missed you a lot king, good to see you're back, your videos were one of the things that got me into the series
Demod thank you. I discovered you while deep in a long term relationship. She and I found you to be all sorts of entertaining and helped get her into my favorite masochist game series. Since she left I've struggled to find joy in anything we did together. Your recent uploads have in a way begun to rekindle my interest/spirit. Cheesey and deep in a RUclips comment? Maybe. Just figured you should know how much you help people with your videos in a number of ways.
I know you’ll be okay, RetroGamerMan64
I feel you man. Don't give up because you can get through this!
Your videos on the souls games are awesome. It reminds me of all the fun I’ve had, walking the lands of those games and brooding, using a weapon to dispatch the horrors.
All this new content is absolutely the second best part of my week! (Elden Ring is number one!) I've missed your content Dadmod, I'm glad your doing the best you can be right now!
Just wanted to say your choices for music were fantastic, I recognized and enjoyed every track
The legend returns! So great to see more videos from you. Have been a fan since many years back. Love the boss rankings a lot, and I’m looking forward to see what Elden ring can offer!
Using battle music from Persona 5 on the 'losing your souls' segment... excellent choice! I saw what you dit there ;-)
One of the things that got me hype for elden ring was a rush of Dad-mod content!!!!
Your channel is what finally convinced me to give blood borne a shot, and now it’s one of my favorite games. (Also, I dead ass throw your playlists on when the insomnia gets out of hand)
What I’m trying to say is, thank you for everything dude. Keep it up, you rock. :3
So impressed you did the MLGS early in blood borne Ludwig horrifies me so big props early game like that gonna look for that run tonight love watching your vids bro
Great video, love your music choice. Will be back once i finish elden ring
Goddamn man the coming of elden ring has dragged up so many feelings and memories from my childhood. Including my favorite channel to put on and grind my way through a boss i was stuck on for days.
These things make the series I appreciate them all even if falling of cliffs and losing my souls kills me inside.
Your content and voice are among the best on RUclips. Keep it up!
It was Demod’s videos that inspired me to start playing these games. One of the best decisions ever!
13:35
This kinda applies to real life. You might not feel like you can do it yourself but you see others going through the same problems who haven't given up. And summoning is like having friends to help with your problems
15:16 you damn well knew what you were doing
Can't wait for you to make vids on Elden Ring. You are a true gym in this community
the first issue, the trek back; I'm so glad they added the stakes or merika in Elden Ring. they may not always be right next to the door, but they're always closer than the Grace
Dude I love that you used the music from The Amusement Park in Nier Automata in this! And Hills of Radiant Winds too from Nier Replicant??? Someone's a cultured man! ♥
Thank you DeCommunist, you have inspired me to play through all the souls games.
Bruh demodcracy put Shin Megami Tensei music in this video my mind is blown he likes ,”the souls of turn based games”, as some would say
Man all the smt/persona music hit the feels
Watching the Moonlight Greatsword in these clips made me hopeful for its appearance in Elden Ring.
Finally playing DkS3 DLC now... I love and appreciate these games more every time I play them.
Pretty much consumed all your vids in a two month span as I finally gave Demon's Souls a true chance, after watching your boss rankings and VaatiVidya's lore video.
Since then finished Demon's Souls and Dark Souls (1). Can't wait for Elden Ring, nor can i wait for your content from it.
Really appreciate all you do.
Mainly posting tho.. cause of the 'Life will change' usage.. just made me a bigger fan.
5:30 my goodness that nier automata music brings back some good memories
Maybe the best thing about them is the feeling, when you complete the first soulsbourne game ever, and stop feeling like a casual...
But then, after playing the second one,you realize, how far from mastery you really are.And no matter how good you think you’re-our favorite game designer will always find a way, that will totally make you feel ground-pounded
I think, for those who seek it these games also teach a valuable lesson, many in fact. But the main one, something joyous and wanted may be a struggle to get to. Sometimes life takes perseverance, no matter how many times you get smacked down, you can get back up and try again. And I think that's amazing.
With Elden Ring coming into the picture, I'm pretty excited for the (likely, due to previous videos) community ranking of its bosses! This really ties into the greatness of this community, seeing everyone express their joys and displeasures about each boss. Some bosses are praised and adored, while others are scorned and loathed, I'm really eager to see how we will rank them.
I missed out on Sekiro's cause that game just kicked my ass to oblivion on launch week, and didn't progress very far so I couldn't give an accurate ranking of the bosses; I didn't even beat it until about this time last year.
If you do plan on a community ranking again, you should definitely wait a longer period of time than you did previously did. This would allow us all to explore more of the world given how vast it is, and see more of the mini/sub bosses, and have bosses sit better with more experience/time with the game. For instance, if I ranked Sekiro's bosses on a first playthrough experience, something like Guardian Ape would be at the bottom because of how ridiculous he was on a first playthrough, but as time came on, I went on to appreciate, and even like the Ape.
I haven’t even finished my first play through yet and I’ve been playing it for 40 something hours. There definitely needs to be something like a month since launch before a community ranking starts, maybe more.
Slightly unrelated but I highly respect your music choices here. Boss ranking for Shin Megami Tensei IV one day? I can dream
In regards to standing your ground after multiple battles to gain experience in the unfair moments segment, I totally understand. I was able to beat Ludwig for the first time SOLO just two nights ago on NG+2 and my joy and thrill was all encompassing in that moment. Thank you DEMOD for being the countdown king on RUclips. Keep on being amazing my dude.
I love your use of SMT5 soundtrack at 11:35 . Didn't know you were a Shin Megami Tensei fan
Edit : And SMT4 at 13:25 , you sir have good tastes
I see you with the SMT osts in the background
Been here for two years started ds3 2 years ago and it's been an amazing journey beat my fair share of souls games and excited for my next
Watching this while unpacking! Can't fucking wait to play.
The whole reason i got into the games was because of these videos. IM SO EXITED FOR TONIGHT
I love your choice of background music.. persona 5, nier automata
Perfect
There’s only one thing I wanna say when I see this kind of video from Demod and that is WWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Thank god ur back man
5.34 great choice of music
getting your early guiding moonlight reminded me of my adventure to get my early rakuyo... one of the upsides being rape horse is my favorite bossfights from has made along with the OST slapping harder than my mother
i like short walkbacks, because there's a small bit of time for you to calm down, but not if its too long
Demodcracy is my go to souls tuber bc he's a vet in the series and is always enjoyable to watch
#3 was me, I went to blighttown right after taurus demon. It was a bad experience but I wasnt going anywhere else until I beat Queelag. Beat her ventured into Izaleth and Ash lake for some reason then wanted to go back and remembered "oh yeah I dont have teleportation right now" so then had to traverse back up blighttown to then still not manage to go the right way and spend time in dark root basin and the tomb of the giants before looking up a playthrough to see what I was missing the entire time. By the time I got there i was 2 shotting the Gargoyles 😂 good times
Love your content man
you‘re back!
Can I just give Demod a high five for using SMT music…? I loved hearing Persona 5’s groove in there but when SMT came in…epic.
Of the curse ailment: I remember playing DS1 on PS3 without internet connection, so I couldn't update the game. That meant the curse stacked, and I had to climb from Great Hollow's basilisk nest back to Undead Church with 1/8th of the max HP bar to buy some Purge Stones...
I do love the souls community. “Good Luck, Skeleton.” And “Try Tongue But Hole.” Will always be classics
I haven’t played Sekiro since 2019 and another souls game since before that. I’m ready to start Elden Ring tonight 🤘🏻
Keep the vids coming my man💖💖🤌🤌
DeMod I wasn't sure on the soundtracks to check but you just hit me with Nier Automata into Persona 5. Beautiful. I'm so random at parrying. Never know how I'll be
4:40
that whole bit about pushing players to their limits immediately made me think back to my... painful (I feel like there's a better word, but I can't think of it) experience with Sister Friede. Yeah, I'll admit that my fight with her was *not* a good time for me.
at that point in my playthrough I had semi-recently had a paradigm shift in how I approached bosses. Up until I found myself fighting Champion Gundyr, I had made sure to have one of my more skilled friends help me with every boss. But for Gundyr, the Ancient Wyvern, Nameless King (who killed me 36 times and I wasn't even close to breaking), the princes, Soul of Cinder, and the gravetenders, I was determined to conquer every boss solo; I had gotten a fresh taste of that euphoric feeling after finally besting Gundyr and was hooked on it. Then I got to Friede. 17 attempts, from what I remember. I was simultaneously in a call with a friend, and even he could tell that I was on the verge of burning down my whole damn neighborhood out of sheer primal rage. I could never master the relatively out-of-place speed of her rhythm, and the amount of progress I could make on any given attempt was outrageously inconsistent- meaning I was mostly only reaching phase 3 by luck and not skill. After those ~17 failures, my friend insisted that I summoned both him and Gael, just so I wouldn't go absolutely apeshit, and begrudgingly let my pride die in favor of just moving on. Knowing the bosses rather positive reputation among the community only added to the rage and damaged pride. I'd heard/seen so much praise about this boss (mostly from your videos), so the rancid taste in my mouth (even after beating her) made me think I was missing something integral to the boss fight's design. I know that there must be plenty of reasons to love it, so it hurts that she was the one boss that could never click for me; the only one that pushed me so far past my breaking point that, even now, I can't look past my retrospective rage to see where it supposedly proves spectacular in design.
basically- pushing players to their limits is honestly putting it mildly.
edit: ah shit I misspelled Gael
Tbh I never even found the frigid outskirts
Looking forward to the Eldin Ring content. I am going to need all the help I can get
showing tarkus and iron golem right as he said gravity, thats dirty
I think a long runback is only okay if the boss itself isn’t actually a challenge, take mist noble or any easy boss you can think off. Then in that situation the run there is the actual challenge, but if isshin or demon of hatred had a long run to them, I dunno if I would of persevered.
Notoriously hard bosses 100% need a rest point outside there door, because thats how some people learn their moves and overcome them best, rinse and repeat
I hope Demodcracy does a boss ranking for Elden Ring
Regardless of journey, struggle, or death, even in the darkest of world we all jolly cooperate and jolly speak of our favorite asshole of a series. Praise the sun!
Hope you enjoy Elden Ring brother! I can't wait to play.
Man, didn't expect SMT 5 ost
Pryomancy is something I loved in the game
running back to the dragon in farum azula is unbelievably frustrating
Hearing that SMT music.
Yeah bro
I heard that smt music in the background
Strangely fitting…
I heard that SMT V soundtrack letss goo
Goddamn, just when you thought @Thedemodcracy was done with Souls stuff he jumps right back in cannonballing with 2 dynamite videos. Weirdly enough I actually rewatched all of the older videos recently for laughs. Great to see that souls isn’t gone from your life haha. Also, love the sound track to this vid. Great to hear persona and nier replicant in the background. Can’t wait for the Elden ring content.
Love how you are using persona music in the background
I noticed that this dude has the carnival ost from nier automata and that is a great way to show love for platinum games best game ever
I love that play persona 5 ost in the background haha
I'm really hoping for some kind of moonlight greatsword in Elden Ring. I loved it in DS1 (Though dark bead spam was usually better), and the weapon art in DS3 was really interesting.
It’s already been found in Elden Ring lol
That last community section felt so nice. I’ve always said dark souls has the best community out there. I love you guys so much
Loving the Nier music in the background
The best Sentence I have heard from that game, that also appeals to RL is: "Don't you dare go hollow".
Great thumbnail. Is that your own art/comission?
God that Nier Automata OST during the second point has me debating a replay
Couple of things I hate but have to live with. 1. Upgrading your shield doesn't upgrade its defensive properties. And 2. The more resistance/immunity you have to poison, toxic and now scarlet rot, the longer it takes to go away outside of items and spells.
I absolutely cannot wait until your eldin ring videos Dmod!
Is that River in the Desert playing in the background about halfway through the video? Have you been playing Persona 5 bro?
Getting Elden ring this week end for ps5 cant wait to play!!
0:05 Yea, I can think of two big things
