I ran that thing back in the 50's when my company mate Buzzy Glenn beat Glenn Davis's old record. It was under two minutes. Nobody ever made running with a medicine look as effortless as Madaline did. As I watched, an old familiar wave of nausea came back.
She is really, *really* good at this. I ran through the USMA IOCT obstacle course myself over a decade ago, and I made it through the course but it's definitely not as easy as Cadet Kenyon makes it look in this video. If memory serves me right, my roommate Chris Sanchez was one of many people who was severely injured due to mishaps that sometimes happen during the rapid ascent and descent at the beginning of this course that you see happening throughout the first minute or so of this video. Also, the running laps around the gymnasium part at the end feels very strange because you have to carry a medicine ball with both hands while you are trying to run as fast as possible and your lungs are burning from the dusty air. Sprinting in circles for a long distance while holding a medicine ball is a very unnatural thing to do, and it even induces coughing and/or vomiting in some people. I also don't feel any shame in admitting that Cadet Kenyon's technique for quickly navigating her way through the shelf as demonstrated in this video is much better than mine was back in the day. This is by far one of the most impressive IOCT runs that I have ever seen. Good job!
Not taking any credit away from any CADET SOLDIER but thats not the original course n travis featherstone of 2011 from wrestling team did It 2 min n 32 seconds.god speed to all of u CADET SOLDIERS.hooah
CBS news is where I saw this and of course they only showed easy portions of the test and I. Cant remember if they said it was man or woman but that they had beat the previous record by 5 sec. Congrats young lady for setting record regardless couldnt now have been easy
Whatever the hell they just said i have no doubt in the world i could beat 40 seconds faster or more due to the person slowness on the monkey bars run and climbing the rope but up the wall i say fluent but if you wanna say 3 seconds faster is bad and also the climb with the other bars is easy btw if you see me in the future and see this beat then you’ll know I’m no human
That was an impressive display of athleticism, strength, and agility, from such a small frame. Im not sure on my best day in my youth that I could keep up with her. Bravo.
I recall three beams in succession. I fell off and hit the last one on the way down. Broke some ribs and had a dark line from the beam on my Gym A shirt. The, oh so kind /s, DPE instructor asked me as I wheezed on the ground whether it was the end of the test for me. I got taped up. No need to go to Keller for x-rays, the treatment was the same. A few days later I was told to re-schedule my test at the DPE testing office, even though I had a substantial recovery profile. Then I was hazed there for taking a test I wasn't supposed to take. (But that's a whole other story)
Tyler Miazga look up West Point IOCT record. the fastest was 1 min 59 seconds. A captain has been working on it for years to break his fathers old record and he finally beat it my plebe year (2013). pretty cool
All cadets take note, use momentum to save energy in the upper body strength sections, you'll need it for the end. Cadet Kenyon does a brilliant job of working with her body's momentum and not wasting it by correcting her leg, arm or torso positioning. She smoked that course!
Irish kev here, aka grant hall guy,lol CADET TRAVIS FEATHERSTONE DID IT 2min 32 sec.class of 2011 i do believN THE SHELF had to climbed up on,he might of graduated with my brother Dave simpkins was 09.I do have to say this female cadet soldier is very impressive.god speed to all you CADET SOLDIERS.GO B1
wow, will be attending this fall as a prepster then hopefully on to the real deal. I decided to check out the obstacle course I've heard so much about and I am extremely impressed. She made it look so effortless! I hope to do a fraction as well as she did! Congratulations on setting the record.
I can see that they have changed the course over time: Gone is the parallel bars, and the runner was allowed to jump over the horse without placing both hands on either the left or right side.
FYI, to bits of information. First, this was the women's record as the men's record at the time was 1:59. Second about a month ago a female cadet broke her female record at 2:20. The men's record was also beaten, in 2019 at 1:54.
General Secretary Council Secretary David Ash Terry's speech was 12 min away from his first victory over Bootcamp in 58, Captain Janet Smith was given 3rd in the last time to finish the match against Manchester..
Few have a G20 Badge, I remember this course very well, I was just graduated Westpoint in 2022, I served as a student at General Secretary Council of the Weapons College's most Decorated...
I attended WP as class of '94 (but left company H-2"happy as hell!" in 1992). I was one of ten people who got an a in my class; I validated gymnastics. I do wonder how many cadets validate gymnastics each year?
Give him a medal he has a pair of great lungs plenty of energy,he is not my son but would love him anyway,an awesome young man and strong too, yeah!!!!!
West Point is a culture of fitness 24/7/365. It is the only place you can flunk out of for failing PT. When my son was there years ago, that gym, PT course, looked the same. I was told then that gym hadn't changed much in last half century. At 3 AM with wind chill 20 below there are hard bodies training all over the post running to the Hudson. Congrats, cadet for breaking the record. Sandhurst competition is grueling and I suspect you'll be on a team. Go Army, Hammer Navy.
Irish kev here, not taking any credit away from ANY CADET SOLDIER but thats not the original course run.the shelf was the hardship of it n was not executed the regular way.she is quite HOOAH THOUGH.god speed to all the (my)CADET SOLDIERS.be blessed all.xoGO B1
If you get an A on this test and can do gymnastics: You can validate gymnastics; I did. Got an A-. This test is much harder than you think do to dust in the air! good luck cadets!
I'm nauseated just watching this! I do find myself wondering why the course was not crowded and why it was taped (obviously folks thought she had a shot). And how tall she is. I hope the written story will tell me. You GO Girl!
That is U.S. Army Captain. The PAO's are required to use the AP Style Guides of rank so it comes out as Capt. instead of the colloquial Army usage of CPT. For what it's worth.
An old Jackie Chan would beat that record time no problemo, skilled parkour and freerunners would even do better, the rope climb was kinda slow, fastest way to rope climb is to use sheer upper body strength and no legs, watch the movie 'soldier' , Jason Scott Lee does it when he fights Kurt russel hand to hand, rope climbing can be done without using legs and feet

The clock on the screen is just a graphic and not the official time. We assure you that the multiple clocks at the IOCT confirmed her time of 2:26.

Capt. Austin Wilson, an Instructor at the Academy, set the current male record of 1:59 last year.

She was like silk running that course.
@Michael Moskal hacking victimization can be horrific. Pls be careful!
HAHAHAHAHA!!!
Oooooh I know this cadet! :) not surprised she got the record at all!
That was an impressive display of athleticism, strength, and agility, from such a small frame. Im not sure on my best day in my youth that I could keep up with her. Bravo.
Had the honor of being the first cadet to ever run the record IOCT with the new balance beam (about Jan '81). Fell off twice.

+Justine Rennekamp Who is going to set a Stand Up Spike Record Up Storm King Mt. ?

The current male record of 1:57 was set on April 28, 2017 by Cadet Evan Collier ('18).

Hey, any update? Did u go back for the real deal?
She did it a heck of a lot better than I did back in 1973. Congratulations!
I'm watching this and almost involuntarily coughing from the sprints. I hope DPE is still pumping dust into the air ducts. Great job!!!
I can see that they have changed the course over time: Gone is the parallel bars, and the runner was allowed to jump over the horse without placing both hands on either the left or right side.

Wow!!!! Thanks for your service! In memory of Ralph L. Lurker '62
Awesome gives my daughter a challenge when she's old enough... great job
I remember the dust and the coughing!
do they still have the buckets outside? fond memories. She rocked it.
Congrats Madaline!! Job well done!!!
Few have a G20 Badge, I remember this course very well, I was just graduated Westpoint in 2022, I served as a student at General Secretary Council of the Weapons College's most Decorated...
This looks SO easy!
She made it look easy 👌
Well done
Wow! I'm gasping just watching her. Freaken amazing! Great job Cadet. EXCELLENT JOB! Congratulations. Damn!
I attended WP as class of '94 (but left company H-2"happy as hell!" in 1992). I was one of ten people who got an a in my class; I validated gymnastics. I do wonder how many cadets validate gymnastics each year?
There is no gymnastics here anymore
@@trin7955 wtf?
Give him a medal he has a pair of great lungs plenty of energy,he is not my son but would love him anyway,an awesome young man and strong too, yeah!!!!!
It’s a woman
2:26? My goodness! The rope! Oof! 👏👏👏
16 digit rate to 24 digits 4 voice activated sensors are available in a range of devices
Wow! She is good. How long before she started coughing and gagging on the stale air?
Clearly someone does parkour. You don't just show up and immediately have that kind of body control
Very impressive. When did they change the balance beam to to a ramped version from the three beams where the step up was required?
It's still there!
So I'm late to this victory party but, WOWZA that Lady flew threw that course!
Wondering if she had any past gymnastics training as a little 'un.
I just remember how awful my lungs felt. Very impressive Cadet

most are sleeping at 3 am
Having to be a part of Westpoint Engineering is hard

I watch that on my phone twice before I realized it was a woman. Fantastic job!
It's criminal how easy she made that look.
Look at the clock, the clock on the video actually starts negative so the time is accurate
If you get an A on this test and can do gymnastics: You can validate gymnastics; I did. Got an A-.
This test is much harder than you think do to dust in the air! good luck cadets!
Awesome! Congratulations. I just got a stomach ache thinking about it. Where are the buckets? LOL. Seriously cool.
Respect.
If my communications ever got jammed by scramblers and I needed a runner to the FOB... This is the woman I want to do the job
Awesome! Congrats
I'm nauseated just watching this! I do find myself wondering why the course was not crowded and why it was taped (obviously folks thought she had a shot). And how tall she is. I hope the written story will tell me. You GO Girl!
Sharon Maddy is 5'8"
so that was the finish? impressive that she beat the cadet ahead of her to boot.
He's name: "The Guardian"
My gosh, Outfuckingstanding.
Makes it look easy
Very very very impressive
Gaz holds the current squadron record at 19 seconds
Smooth real smooth
Way to go, future ma'am.
Super great !!! Class of 2025 aim for this!
That is U.S. Army Captain. The PAO's are required to use the AP Style Guides of rank so it comes out as Capt. instead of the colloquial Army usage of CPT. For what it's worth.
Excellent!
Congratulations!
And now the coughing begins.
How long is one loop on the track? 200 meters?
Holy shit, can you say cardio machine!!! That was amazing!
I can't make it to the refrigerator that fast
If I remember right, one loop is 1/11 of a mile, which would make it a 146 meter track.
Nice shit. Way to go. And thank you.
Captain Roger Myers 7 Air Cavalry got perfect time 12:00:09
CAPT as in USN O-6? or CPT as in USA O-3?
Army Capt is an O-3
Female record* Why separate male and female times? They fight together yeah?
I did it 12seconds in call of duty modern warfare.
I got Captain
Way to go!
Jeff failed THIS??
SWEET!
super cadet!!!
great
But she didn’t go back to help another cadet get over the wall.
Try that in full combat gear..
While impressive I it inside in a controlled environment. I feel like it doesn't count if it's not outside in the dirt and mud
i thought Lara croft was fictional. never mind!
You're or you are
the HACK!!!
I don't even know if you're watching a dude or a girl
can he kill a Russian super soldier or a Chinese gmo rifleman, no he can just run away fast I'm weird motions
So.... it's mediocre parcore ?
Hoo-ra!
No dirt no mud no humidity rain extra weight. I'm sorry but this is lame. FTD
Fastest male?
Female
As retired military, I have to say that the gymnasium is trash! Peeling paint at West Point? Really?
Go Navy, Beat Army!
Lol, a Marine recruit could beat that just on the rope climb alone. You're good Army, but you ain't that good.
Now do a pullup
And will do literally zero of that in a combat situation congrats on the waste of time
She might be the fastest trou. But still trou
Is it a biological female or a transformer? It looka lika man to me.
