Beautiful - recently I've been wishing my dingy kitchen walls were painted since they are the same as when we moved in 30 years ago - still with someone else's badly painted stencils around the window and doorway. 'They're going to be,' my husband says. 'Cottage white. We have gallons of cottage white.' (Translation - same color as they were originally - builder's cream leftover from a previous repair job in another room.) I've been moaning to myself about how boring cottage white is. But with the sage green, oh man! So fresh and pretty. I had forgotten that I really do like cottage white. Thanks! I'm ordering some gingham yardage to go with the green fabric I already have and that kitchen's going to get dolled up for spring.

What a great sense of space, colour and textures....but also something extra most designers lack - that natural ability to create a sensual kaleidoscope for all of our senses to experience that space rather than just occupy it. So intuitive in 'knowing' the perfect details , placement and optimal use of materials !! *me giving standing ovation *

Ohhhhhh....I absolutely love it! It’s like a spa. I have a suggestion for your lattice. A fantastic white, easily germinated, climbing annual plant is white moonflowers. It’s a cousin to the morning glory. It blooms in the evening and has huge white fragrant flowers. It’s fun to watch the huge flower unfurl in the early evening and bloom. Thanks for sharing. Your porch is perfect.

Just lovely! Makes me want to curl up on the swing and read a book or cat nap. Or just sit in the rocking chair with my eyes closed listening to the sounds in your haven of nature. I’ve been so anxiety filled for lots of reasons, and I cannot explain the calming affect your video had over me. I especially love when you stop to “smell the roses” like when you pointed out the birds singing. I’m always inspired by you. Thanks for doing what you do and sharing your slice of heaven!!

I made a huge mistake once. I put mint in the flower bed in the front of our townhouse and vinca in the back. I spent the next seven years trying to keep it from taking over our yard and running into my neighbors roses. I couldn't get rid of it. Lesson learned was to keep those plants in pots.

I wish I could be more like you. I’m in such a complete depression that I don’t leave my bed very much anymore. Grieving over the death of my only daughter feels like it’s gonna kill me. I wish I could just sit outside or find joy in anything these days .

Yes, I am sorry too. Such a loss! I think it would be of benefit to get out of the house, sit on the porch, walk to the corner. Plant a pot of flowers. Pray and see pretty nature and get sunshine. Little respites in the grieving process...

This is my absolute favorite re-do so far. The faucet and sink , oh my, I want that!
And that's the one the that would drive me nuts. That constant noise of the water running. I'd feel like I forgot to turn off my kitchen sink. Not pleasant at all. All the plants though ARE beautiful.

Lattice looks better left as is since your staying with worn out paint on rails and trim. I taped stripes to my new white pots and spray painted them with a brighter green. Matches the grass, trees and shrubs well! Enjoy your deck Mary! 🌱🌿🌸

I have been shopping in my yard this year. I was able to fill some pots. I couldn't go to the garden center. I have always taken a shove an cut my ferns to make two. They grow fast and fill in the pots.
Definitely inspired me! I don't have a porch but I have a carport so cleaned it off, got my old ladder out Painting it white and putting plants on it. And arranged my wicker furniture, now I'm on a roll , plus have old shutters and a trunk I'm going to paint. thanks to you Mary! 😊

I understand this so well but the satisfaction and enjoyment of creating this type of space and gardens is well worth it. Just have to expect and plan for the negatives.😉😊 gotta take the bad with the good in all things.

You have energy to burn, amazing how you tackle a project and see it through to perfection. When you mentioned creating a cozy space to sit in for hours, I can't see you sitting and relaxing for more than 15 minutes! haha ~ I didn't think I'd like such a minimal color theme of plants and decor, but I loved it. For someone who tries to limit her spending, it was a nice surprise to note where you allow yourself to splurge. Lots, and lots, and lots, of new plants to adorn you deck. The lattice project was a perfect addition. I cannot praise the design of your desk enough. You need to take photos to post on pinterest since your deck is a designers dream. Also, please make sure you bring us back to see how the deck looks in a month or more, when all your plants have grown to fill their pots.
