I just had XPS 13 with the 8th gen i7 and 4K touchscreen for a few days but decided to swap it for this XPS 15 because I prefer bigger screen for coding and don't really see how I would personally benefit from 4K on a 13" screen. I also planned on doing some light gaming which the 1050 Ti is perfect for. I just can't get myself to buy any other manufacturer's laptop anymore because the keyboard is just on point, screen is sharp and colorful, speakers are great for their size and the fingerprint reader just works without any issues. Nothing to complain about the looks either: simple design, looks and feels like a premium product and doesn't bend or wobble.
i have the newer 9500 and what I consider base model but with the 1650ti, battery life is fricking awesome! my old HP lasted about 2 hours, this one lasts about all day long!
Haters going to hate around here but I have the 5520, which is the workstation version of this laptop and I love it. Fast, powerful, great for editing, matte screen and light. No major issues, some annoying Dell software and lack of quick driver updates.
I second this! I wanted the Oled and it was cheaper as well but too long have I suffered a dim display. The 7590, 4k, touch at 500 nits is not dim! I'm actually more than happy at 75% brightness for most of time, I'll rephrase that, for comfort not to save the battery or anything! This laptop is a beast, it'll take around 6 hours to get everything working right if you go with the install that comes with but when it's running smooth boy is it smooth! Haha absolutely love this laptop already! The track pad is as good as on a Mac! Insane
Agree with the hot part. But when you live in a tropical country where 33*C is nearly the norm, the carbon fiber palm rest actually feels hotter at the start(plus it get more grime after a while)
Tech Notice Yes, they get hot too.( I don’t have a razer blade so I can’t say anything about the comfort). But all else equal, I prefer the smoother, less oily palm rest of the MacBook even if it is slightly hotter. The weird thing is, for the first few days, the MacBook gets really hot for really no reason. However, after a few days, the laptops run cool most of the time(CPU temp around 55-65*C) unless you are rendering video or adding motion blur effects in fcpx. Though I have to say I’m slightly biased toward Macs since I use them haha
Appreciated this much. How long have you been using that laptop for? How's the standby of your unit? Been considering the XPS 15 vs Blade 15. What are your thoughts between the two?
Are you familiar with my Blade 15 story? See few videos ago on my channel. If you want a solid working laptop with good to go out of the box, the XPS 15 is 10/10.
Yea. Saw your video about the blade. Hard to let go of the Mercury White one. I really love the looks but yea. Thank you for your response. Hoping to see more about your experience with the xps.
Hello friend, great review. I want to ask, in my country.. we still have this model and I'm about to buy the 4k version of it with same specs. Can I ask, why didn't you buy the 4k version or do you know is there any performance differences between them (such as battery life, render speed, bla bla bla) Thanks! :)
Tbh I got the 4k model coz it was cheaper, but now if I did it again, I'd go with the 4k model, coz the 1080p feels like lacking pixels. In terms of performance differences, the speed of the computer is not affected, just the battery life. On the 4k model the battery doesnt last that long.
Just a tip for future videos, when you were talking about the ports, you said that the USB-A 3.0 port was the thunderbolt port. And the type-c was USB gen 3.1. The USB-C port is the one with thunderbolt, not the USB-A port. Hope this helps for future videos
I just got an xps 15 brand new BUT it has crashed once in 4 days and two times the screen went black and the fan started to run really fast. Someone help, should I replace it
Tech Notice I just got it brand new, bought it off dell itself, no particulars programs I was just doing my google and running chrome when I put it to sleep .. then when I tried to restart it the keyboard would light up and the fan went super crazy but the computer wouldn’t turn on so I pressed the power button multiple times then after a few minutes it shut down completely. I love the laptop but these things have happened. The crash itself only happened once and not anymore so I think it won’t crash. But the black screen happened twice yesterday
Okay, so before you return it, just make sure you've got the latest updates and everything installed. If the problem appears again, just get your laptop replaced :)
Tech Notice hey I read something about BIOS update. Should I go ahead and do the update I think it would help. Everything else is up to date (drivers windows apps)
I actually wish they would make the palm rest metal, it’s a grease magnet and after owning an XPS 15 for 3 years and an XPS 14 for 4 years before that, I’m quite simply sick and tired of the constant cleaning of it
@@theTechNotice What any laptop should do. Mine flat died last week, downloading a text file. I've been through HP and Acer. 4K or 1080p

I bought the i9 AMOLED.
I'm expecting my battery to be like "hahahaha f**k you" all the time.
Unless you go full dark mode and undervolt it

Great idea, need to get a sponsor ;) or tweet that same thing and tag gigabyte in the tweet :)
how good is dell 15 for rendering, 3d design
How do you edit from an external hard drive?

thanks dude! Must've accidentally said it wrong haha :D
Hello, is the dell xps 15 still performing well for you?
I've changed laptops since then, but not because of bad performance. I wanted to create content for the channel about different laptops. :)
Hi! Do you experience any brightness flickering while using PS or any Adobe product? I've heard that's a common issue with nvidia cards.
I used a lot of premiere and a little bit of PS and I had no issues :)
@@theTechNotice Do you have that model: Intel Core i7-8750H, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, Nvidia GTX 1050Ti 4 GB, Windows 10?
Yes, that's right
@@theTechNotice Last question! Do you have to use proxies while editing 4k and do you use after effects (if yes, how's the performance?).

Is this the previous 9570, or the New 7590?
9570
Previous 9570.
Back panel screws are of worst quality. I tried to upgrade ram and when just tried to open, in 2nd turn worn out.
😱
How many hours of battery life? In surfing browser for example.
~8h or so, depending on your screen brightness... :)

Dell XPS 15 or Surfacebook 2? Which is better for heavy programming, heavy Excel use and entertainment?
IMHO what version did you buy though because from my research I heard the top end models don’t have any issues
IMHO I don’t need to do all that, just need a powerful laptop that gets the job done
IMHO sigh, okay what model is your laptop
is this good for music production also ?
