I remember my grandma once told me that the only reason her father used to own chickens was because they kept the snake, mice and mole population at bay. Now I kinda get it.... I guess they are tiny dinosaurs.
Because they're idiots at most, and get spooked easily. I lived on a farm, if you played chicken with a well chicken you could bet it would get scared... and then seconds later you'd be running for dear life.
YEEEAH...I KNOW WHAT THEY SAY, BUT I LOOKED INTO IT, AND ITS PRETTY WELL DEBUNKED, NOW...WITH THE SIZE HELLZ YEAH, I THINK THEY MAY HAVE GOTEN A LITTLE BIGGER, OR THERE WAS A LARGER BREED OF COCKS...SURE...WHY NOT, HELL JUST 100 YEARS AGO MAYBE....WHO KNOWS
I worked on a farm that had chickens, and I can do one better. They found a snake. What they did was they surrounded the snake, and pecked at it till it died. Then they ate it!
since when are chickens meat eaters? In any case, here I felt sorry for the mouse. It didn't do them any harm, but they pecked at it. Thanks G-d it got away in the end.
I absolutely love this video, how happy and curious they are, I love the way they are being treated! Its great to see them roaming free instead of on a farm in a small cramped cage, stacked 15 high, my heart goes out to you guys great job!!!
This reminds me of some turkeys my uncle used to have, The turkeys would always get really close when I was feeding them, and one day I was kind of relieved that they did. One day I found a mouse in the feed, and the turkeys were there. I tipped over the bin just enough to let the mouse get out and the turkeys went CRAZY! I didn’t expect this to happen but one of them swallowed the mouse whole!
That how chickens are very curious, but they keep their distance in case they have to run, I know some people are upset about them attacking that mole but that's nature for you its scary, If the mole stopped moving they would lost interest and walk away and as soon as it started moving again they would run back to it, I've seen it many times, that's how chickens handle things. They beaks is they hands, if you think that's cruel, then you don't want to see a hen with chicks defend her babies, they will battle anything that comes near which looks like a threat, even humans. growing up as a kid in the Caribbean my mother had hens and believe me when i say when they had chicks nobody went into the yard near them and it was a big yard. not even the dogs or cats or even other hens only the roosters would go near the chicks and sometimes they would get run off by the hen after a while.
Who cares if it's nature, you say it like it's not an evil sick game being played out by poor starving animals. nature is wrong, and people like you condone it like it needs to be preserved. crocodiles eating humans is ALSO NATURE, so i guess you wouldn't want to be saved, i'll stand there and film you being eaten alive and upload it on you-tube so your misfortune can be laughed at and called (oh it's just nature) lets admire it.
That's quite arrogant to call nature "wrong'...... Us human need the restriction of law, ethic etc. because our society is way too populated and complicated, we need control so most people can live peacefully. (Cruel competition still exist though) But apply to other species? Nah, don't think so. Are you expecting that we turn all other animals to civilized populations? Lion peacefully playing with gazelle? The world of Zootopia is veeeery hard to achieve. Also, accepting the law of nature has nothing to do with survival instinct. It is also nature for prey to struggle and to escape, isn't it? Just like the little rodent in the video. In your example, accepting nature only means that the hunting crocodile does not violate anything ethical--because the truth is, wild life doesn't need inter-species ethic to survive. If it's useless, it won't exist. Though, understand nature still doesn't contradict the fact that the prey (or the victim, as you like it) wants to escape. On the other hand, if you intentionally upload a bloody video of human eaten by crocodile and you are caught amused by it...... you will very likely receive consequences, be it video deleted or personally accused to be insensible. Now that's not nature, that's human society.
I got bored half way through you answer, as by then i could tell you are one of those can't see the outside of a box types, i will not waste my time on you.
dinosaurs..... i heard ccommotion coming from my coop one night. go down there to see a opossum in the coop. no chicken blood anywhere, all opossum blood. lol
I had a frog that lived at my kitchen sink in an RV years ago for two seasons. Then I rescued so.e chickens and watched one eat my frog. Not so nice having gotten used to the little kritter. Speaking of critters, lost another's one today. My Chaweener dog passed on today. We had about 6 years together. He was amazing. And he ate mice too. I'll miss that in him.
I kept waiting for humanity to step in and rescue the mole, I was sorely disappointed.Moles have very poor eye sight it must have been terrified with all those specks and throws Not impressed at all!
Well one day you ladies will wake up and realize voles are invasive and annoying, whereas chickens are beneficial to have around (they eat ticks, vermin, bugs) and this is just how life works. You save the vole from the chickens and something else will eat it.
Boohoo my feelings hurt cause an animal died! How about you go save the elephants from the poachers instead of complaining about chickens pecking a mole? Snowflake
The title of the video is ‘Chickens find a mouse’. This is what happens when chickens find food. If they can, they will kill it and eat it, This is nature, the chickens are not trained or forced to kill and it, it is their instinct. Please, if you are offended, go and research how animals act. This is reality. This is Life. Maybe then you will understand why you should not pass negative comment and raise your flag of indignation. Your views are ill informed and unwarranted.
Chickens are viscious beasts...that is why I LOVE them. I bet that yard is about 99.9 percent free of pests and vermin thanks to the cluckers (chickens).
We had a chicken chase a mouse form the coop and out to the yard. Beaked the crap out of it then ate it. Yup, mini dino's. Sometimes in the morning I find a crime scene in the coop with no evidence of a body, only blood spatter. I checked my chickens for injuries and found none.
my late granny's chickens torn the mice apart without any hesitation, in like 2 seconds, we could barely see some action when it alredy happened. I am not sure if these fellas here are some layback chickens, or they just feel bit scared of that poor dummy.
Yep. . . .you know it. What you see here (from a heritage pea hen/grouse/silkie/ game hen// pheasant farmer over 15 year) is the promotional opportunity for the hens near the bottom of the pecking order making the most dominant fuss while rooster and the boss hens look on. . . if the lower hens do well and procure food for all, she will rise in the rankings.
I am amazed at all the animal lovers thinking this is cruel. No, this is NATURE,. This is what animals do everyday in the wild. If you really loved animals you would know this. Wait, or, do you really love some false image you created in your mind in stead of the animal?

Only difference is, you didn't have to kill it. Honestly, what do you want the chickens to do? Walk into a grocery store and be like, "Yeah, I would like to buy that meat." Haha yeah, No. Animals kill to eat, it's just how it is. May not be pleasant, but come on, be realistic here. It's just one insignificant mouse out of the billions on earth. Minus one isn't going to hurt anything.
I have a chicken that was go to town on a mouse. She doesn't play around. She swings them and beats them on the ground, a rock or something to pulverize and soften them and then she swallows it down. She's a better mouser than our cats.
I remember my grandma once told me that the only reason her father used to own chickens was because they kept the snake, mice and mole population at bay. Now I kinda get it.... I guess they are tiny dinosaurs.
Val Nenuial very true
fun fact: they are relatives to the t-rex.
+Evan Gunter b.s
Evan Gunter that is true
Evan Gunter Yeah T-Rex and Dinosaurs had feathers
Why is "chicken" a phrase that describes someone who's easily scared? They're a lot braver than I am
Mourning Dove you got a point!🕊
Because they're idiots at most, and get spooked easily. I lived on a farm, if you played chicken with a well chicken you could bet it would get scared... and then seconds later you'd be running for dear life.
brave? they were too scared to kill it lol
Mourning Dove 🤣😂🤣😂
Just like a Pansy is one of the hardest flowers.
Adorable chickens! I love all their clucking!
Thank you for keeping your chickens free range

chickens "you walked into the wrong neighborhood"
Bahahaha that's golden im dead.... and don't come back to man!!
Any chickens I had over the years would have devoured that mouse (or what ever it is) in a heart beat.
Elemental Demon 😂🤣😂🤣
chickens are predators too...and they do love meat!...they are dinosaurs in miniature.
+Salto DelPuma NO THEY'RE NOT "DINOSAURS" ROFLMFAO.....THEY DON'T WANT VERMIN NEAR THEIR EGGS...AND ANYTHING BASICALLY EATS ANYTHING ANY WAY LOL
james saunders no they are not but they do descend from dinosaurs, as per scientists and paleontologists.

as far as I know, they are grain eaters.
unavitadellamusica Well you are wrong. Chickens are omnivores.

that was pretty cruel to let them torture that poor mouse and then to Film it! Wow
Yep, when you can see that birds are descended from dinosaurs. Had a chicken that used to fight the cats off when i threw out meat scraps.
Susan Farley my cat lose a eye and few day later die after a fight against the local chicken
So dinosaurs devolved and turned into chickens that can be ate by almost anything, makes sense lol. Evolution keeps getting dumber every day.
hebrone30 now imagine if the chicken can evolved back into a dinosaur..................
hebrone30
So true!
MR AD now, i for one would like to see that!!! Little mini size dinos would be fun!!!

I love this video.....we had chickens on our ranch....they provided us with fresh eggs and happy sounds!!
man i bet that mouse had a shit of a day..but what a story he will live to tell..i would read that book.
K CGC "as I ran, the horrible clucking beast came running towards me, jabbing there beaks at me"
Looks like a hen fox hunt. Run mouse run....you made it!
That poor mouse, this is literally their version of Jurassic Park.
Sunshine chickens are descendants of dinosaurs
My late mother said if you want all the ticks removed from your yard and a cheap alarm system then get a flock of guineas.
"If you poke it it squeaks, but if you poke it lots it stops squeaking"
Birds are descended from dinosaurs and chickens REMEMBER
Personally I would have saved the little creature from the torture. The birds look like they're well fed, no need to add mole or mouse to the menu
Those chickens surely knows how to bully.
I love how excited they all get when they see it. They're all like "LUNCH!"

Speckled Sussex, Silver laced Wyandottes, and one Buff Brahma!
Beautiful birds! We got our first Speckled Sussex 9 months ago. I believe they are my favorite breed now!
Chickens have a lot of curiosity. When i was young and raised game birds i loved to watch them
I kept waiting for humanity to step in and rescue the mole, I was sorely disappointed.Moles have very poor eye sight it must have been terrified with all those specks and throws
Not impressed at all!
@Dew Dropje Couldn't agree more. Nothing amusing about filming the death of any helpless creature. I am disgusted.

Chickens are viscious beasts...that is why I LOVE them. I bet that yard is about 99.9 percent free of pests and vermin thanks to the cluckers (chickens).
A mole rather than a mouse.
i love this! chickens are so curious and sweet, it's so fun watching them think!
Or not think
What they do when I wasn't around would be one thing, but I would have rescued that poor mouse. What a horrible way to die.
PigeonsPie1 how do you think buffalo feel? It is nature! Taking away their food is just cruel! Stop forcing your morals and feelings onto animals.
its no wonder the chickens are pecking, the mouse sounds like a cricket.
We had a chicken chase a mouse form the coop and out to the yard. Beaked the crap out of it then ate it. Yup, mini dino's. Sometimes in the morning I find a crime scene in the coop with no evidence of a body, only blood spatter. I checked my chickens for injuries and found none.

"So sadistic" "so cruel!" Theyre animals. Its only cruel to us. Plus, they seemed more curious then anything.
I think they're referring to the camera person and not the chickens.
Animals are not cruel - true... but people filming this are...
Kat Hayashi Raccoons are violent for entertainment. They kill for fun and don't need to eat what they kill.
Alicja Kaźmierczak in that case you are cruel too for watching videos like this one.
Tiffany Schmidt
Actually, it's even more natural than you'd think for this to happen. Chickens eat mice.
How the grownups take care of of a snake found in our backyard.
I find it amusing how elephants are scared of mice, but chickens aren't! LOL
Those evil chickens are laughing in a chorus !! Badass chickens

Looks more like a short-tailed shrew than a mouse....
I heard this on the Joe Rogan podcast and just had to look it up.
Awesome that the mouse got away :D
Poor mole.
Imagine being surrounded
by 50 foot tall skittish raptors.
yeah, I was kinda glad he got away too :)
I immediately thought, "That mouse is going to feel "hen pecked" real soon! It surprised me that the mouse didn't make a mad run from them.
Yeah, I kept a Sussex Roo, but he ended up being really nasty and attacking people. So I got a Plymouth Barred Rock Rooster from a friend, and let a hen hatch out 3 eggs from him this spring. That was fun to do.
I have a photo of my dad with his Barred Rocks: 1927. Hard to believe they were once one of the most popular farm breeds. And you didn't keep birds in those days that didn't pay their way. You couldn't afford to.

Beautiful healthy birds.
feel like I watched a mouse snuff film.
But my chickens are just taking the mouse with no problem; and then others starting amazing chase. (from my observation)
Sounds like my wife’s book club on Thursday nights.
The poor little thing made it out of there with its life -
Never a better mouser/molar/snaker than a group of chickens. Did I forget the bugs?
See Canon bunnier
One time I caught my chickens fighting over who gets to eat a garter snake.
aww. poor baby. I always wonder why the cameraman would do this, stand there and record the torture of a mole.
Carol McCullough - Kuchar Do
you feel the same way when watching nature documentaries that show animals killing other animals?
a mouse runs FAST!
I've had many unfortunately :((((
This is NOT a mouse.
It's a shrew mouse, absolutely harmless. Poor thing. 😟
I think she injured it when she pecked it.
Ignore the title. In the description says mole. I dont know how fast they are but they may be slow because they need them stuff to dig.
I just loved this. I have a hound dog or I would have chickens.
Who needs a cat when you have chickens, lol.
Now I can imagine how it was like when a pack of Velociraptors met their first human.
You're joking right?
The wild birds all around the trees got excited too, judging by the complete cacophony which has developed by the middle of the video.
Chickens are related to dinosaurs...and we're not talking the plant-eaters.
Poor mole!
Bonnie Buchanan it was a mouse and this is nature
@@alexisfishinhuntinandfarmi2923 It WAS a mole.
It looked and acted like a mole and @1:09 one of the kids
literally said. "It's actually a mole".
I couldn't stand there and watch that! I don't care if its nature, I'd feel bad to not help the poor thing. Luckily the little varmint got away
That was really cute. I love when chickens are that age I could see most of them were about 5 months old or so. They are so scared but curious.
poor mouse probably thought it was in hell with all these big ass chickens torturing it!
Are you a vegetarian?
Most predators toy with their prey before eating it, it's normal.
Exactly.
A member of the Thalmor They're not toying with it, while you're right these chickens are not used to the sight of a mouse, they're being cautious.
Well, my retirement hasn't turned out the way I hoped it would. Here it is pushing midnight and I am sitting here watching chickens chase after a mouse. I should be dancing and drinking fine wine on someone's mega yacht. But no... it's cluck cluck cluck.
I feel like scientifically, chickens catching prey is the best we have of seeing our ancient bipedal dinosaurs caught small mammalian prey.
Is this what they mean by pecking order ? Amazing and in all truth to hear their chunterings is like listening to people , only more interesting .Hope the moue got home safely ...Doubt it will be back in a rush :) Lovely chickens .👍🐔🐀
This is some Resident Evil zombie reenactment. That mole tanked a lot of damage. He better eat a herb.
Mole = *Danger* *Virus*
Chickens = *Fine*
I know this is how life works but can't help feel sorry for that poor mouse ouch! I'm glad it scaped :D

LOL LOL
So this is why my eggs tasted like ratatouille.
lol i heart chickens!

It's only natural, but since they were just harassing it and not eating it I would have rescued the poor mouse.
+Limey Figdet
plus to them it's just a moving forein object, they don't know what it is it's instinct
Mean Green Productions Yes, they're very curious animals. I've even had my eyes and teeth pecked a few times by the younger ones.
ya,i've had that happen to me to,i raise chickens, but i love them to,there like a dog is to a boy
Yeah, unless you probably wouldn't save the mouse if it was a cat attacking it would you? Smh.

I've actually saved frogs and young rabbits from sadistic cats before. And I would help a mouse too.
That mouse should have known that T-rexes can't see you if you don't move
Sounds like they're laughing
Glad that the mole escaped -
For some weird reason this reminds me of "Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers".
This is kind of sad. Like we get it -they found a mole. Was it necessary to let it be hurt like that, over and over. Poor guy. I think he got it after this first 10 pecks

Animals kill to eat, it's just how it is. May not be pleasant, but come on, be realistic here. It's just one insignificant mouse out of the billions on earth. Minus one isn't going to hurt anything.
So many cruel people. I can't hurt anything. I would not want to be a mole and be tortured while people watch.
Chickens my inherit the Earth than eat us .... LOL 😱 nice video .....
00:06 oh shit
I have a chicken that was go to town on a mouse. She doesn't play around. She swings them and beats them on the ground, a rock or something to pulverize and soften them and then she swallows it down. She's a better mouser than our cats.
