I didn't get to test the new legacy beta. But I tried the official "Endless Journey" experience on the official servers. The first thing that comes to my mind is what you said at 3:19 The difference between the open source ClassicUO and the official server is just MASSIVE. There is no point on putting efforts on the official UO client instead of the opensource one. At least do as Outlands does, take the CUO as the base for the official client! worth to mention I'd tried the ClassicUO client in the official servers, and it just looks great and works flawlessly.
I believe theres a target audience. One before «assist» software. its back to basic that it once was. Its not all bad. I think some people can have a lot of fun here, if they find it
*nods* but who is the target audience? It seems like they want it to be a continuation of the original Ultima series but in the UO art from 1997. If that is the case, I guess they are doing it.. but I would love a reboot where we get Ultima Online in 2024 with more than 12 fps but still get to explore old map / skills / lore / fun.
The me and you in simpler days. Those who engage inside the game instead of flamewar on Discord. And dont want to read heavy wikis for everything. Simple - slower. Except maybe the fps i find it interesting. If the right audience finds it- it could be a fun place.
@@Jaseowns Not sure about UO specifically, but with most games, you can use a program called DGVoodoo2 to run the game in a wrapper that allows you to simulate different hardware, resolutions, etc. Currently I use it for playing Classic EverQuest with the original "Stone and scroll" UI, that client/UI was hardcoded at 640x480 so if you try to play it with a modern monitor it will be like 1/4 of your screen, but with DGVoodoo I can simulate the 480p resolution and even the 4:3 aspect ratio scaled up to 1080p, so the game can run fullscreen. You can even simulate a CRT monitor, it'll add the little scanlines and make it look *just* like a CRT display.
Yeah, that's a no for me. People that are mad at feedback from other people, should just consider: if someone is gonna start playing Ultima Online right now, what are the chances they will enjoy their experience on "official" servers? If you love UO, and you want to see it grow and progress, supporting these low quality efforts for "nostalgia" is a negative. Broadsword is going the wrong way.
Agreed - someone’s comment about a vintage car vs new car is spot on. I don’t want people to change what they love to drive but I want new drivers to actually enjoy the experience of power doors and brakes. 😂 Open source classic UO client needs to be used here. Please hear us broadsword!
I dont know dude . At my 50's i m looking for a game to "throw anchor" . Already invested more than enough time (albeit newbie being playing a month now) .. and the idea of something new shows up .. only makes me bitter . I just hope "Outlands" can carry me through years to come
I've had a few games in my life that I consistently play - UO is one of them.. but I don't mind being on different servers and love checking out what people make. Outlands definitely has its hooks me in though too haha
This is you: "Imagine you have a classic car enthusiast named Tom who has always cherished his vintage 1965 Mustang. It was his pride and joy, a reliable car that he enjoyed driving every weekend. One day, he received a significant upgrade: a state-of-the-art, fully restored version of his Mustang with modern features like a powerful new engine, advanced sound system, and luxurious interiors. Tom was ecstatic and thoroughly enjoyed the enhanced experience. However, after a few years, circumstances changed, and the upgraded Mustang was taken away. Now, Tom had to go back to driving his original 1965 Mustang. Despite the car still being in good condition and providing the same joy it once did, Tom found himself constantly complaining about its lack of modern features and the comfort he had grown accustomed to. The original car, once a source of immense pleasure, now seemed lacking and inadequate compared to the upgrade he had briefly enjoyed." Why not just enjoy your original Mustang?
Because other options are much much better to deliver that experience? Hopefully they can turn this around but god damn, unlikely given it took them like 3-4 years to even get this up.
Well said and I can understand that people that play the live server are driving the vintage mustang. I’m not trying to tell people to not enjoy their ride. I just want a new driver to be able to have power steering and power doors!
Yeah, imagine you had dirty drinking water for years and then got clean drinking water...and then it was taken away after a short time. Why not just go back to enjoying your old dirty drinking water? Oh, maybe because it's disgusting dirty water and you know that clean water exists now.
@@JusVen You completely missed the point. "The original car, once a source of immense pleasure, now seemed lacking and inadequate compared to the upgrade he had briefly enjoyed." The message here is that you have forgotten the original pleasure i.e. of playing the game. With your analogy the original game was horrible i.e. The dirty water.. that was never the case.
This is a silly analogy. The game in its original form is no longer enjoyable the way it was in its heyday. You're trying to say it provides the same joy when it simply doesn't.
This is what happens when Genetics lost in time call out to each other. They release the equivalent a modern, outdated interface that only they can understand!
Another comment here talked about vintage car vs new car. I want people to enjoy whatever they drive but new drivers should not have to struggle like this imo
Maybe these guys are so resentful of what the successful indie servers are doing that they refuse to implement any of the progress thats been made modernising the client? It don't make no sense I tell you!
So true.. someone mentioned the vintage car vs new car type thing and it really makes sense - but also lets not pretend its 1997 and get some quality of life things in our video game :D
Thanks for watching - I wanted to show off the beginning but couldn't make another character :( I believe you still have a chance to download it and play - uo.com!
The reason they dont improve the old client is because they want everyone to use the new client that really is shit. BroadSword is going to lose alot of there only few paying subscribers if they keep this crap up.
I want to be hyped for some Official UO shard that can bring in a bunch of people because it's "official" - this one is getting attention but falls short of what I would have hoped for
@@Jaseowns Nothing Official will ever be good. They spent all this effort to put out garbage. A publish 16 era Renaissance server would have brought back people in droves. These developers are either clueless or have ZERO control. I guess they just hate money

I laugh out loud when you opened the drawer and it was bigger than any gump I've ever seen in UO. LOL
Haha it caught me off guard for sure!
"Today I am going to check out the New Legacy shard" 15 minutes later, goes back to Outlands.
I want Official UO to see!
So immersive, just look at those FPSs, I dare you to deny it!
I was brought right back into the old days for sure
Thanks for playing it so I didn't have to. I already saw the red flags in the trailer (12 fps & lack of info).

Typical screen resolution was 800x600 for windows 98 lol so it was more expanded.
This is true. Gotta bust out the CRT

@GC_Rallo haha that sounds pretty cool actually - thanks for sharing
I watches this Saturday, had to come back and say how sad that its really so comical.
I’m laughing/crying and wanting it to be better!
4:25 is the real classical uo experience.
that client thing is a disgrace
It’s funny and sad 😢
I don't really understand the point of making it half super classic and the other half weird new stuff. I feel like they did it backwards.
I really wished they worked with the open source guys on classic uo. Missed opportunity for sure
Or why don't they just make their own classic uo @@Jaseowns
I don't remember uo being this rough 20 years ago

it wasn't, you could use UO Assist which is what Razor was built on/around
im going to try the enhanced client tonight....

Play enhanced client with Pincos UI Game Changer
Never heard of it, thanks - is it a specific client or something that runs aside the game like Razor?
big ooooof
