The Beatles had just finished recording Abbey Road and were literally weeks away from breaking up. But even at this very late stage of their career they hung out together. Paul might have attended too if Linda wasn't giving birth to their 1st child.
I don't think the other Beatles enjoyed hanging out with Billy Campbell. But the remaining 3 Beatles - Ringo, John & George still really enjoyed their friendship. They'd been through so much together. Especially losing Paul tragically in 1966.
I was there too and never knew John, George and Ringo were there until after the festival. No social media in those days, so news traveled slowly. A brilliant festival.
August 31, 1969...Rumors were running wild that the 3 Beatles were going to get up on stage with Dylan for a jam session... ...but alas...nothing happened.
We all have those we learn from. The Beatles were no different. Paul McCartney wrote and continues to write brilliant lyrics, just for the record. Each member of the beatles a talent and genius in their own right.
Well you learn something NEW every day....it IS true....LINDA talks about it in ehr book ofrock legend photography...I went with Paul and met Bob Dylan.. I asked Dylan (this was early 1969) if he minded if I took a few shots--an d he flat out said "NO". Paul wasn;t too thrilled for a while with ZIIMMY lol
N ot why he didnt go--was not really talking to Dylan in 1969..had a tiff with Linda who tried to shoot photos of bob..and he refused.. pissed off paul...Bob doesnt like sanyone taking his photo ..ever lol
This was my favorite solo instrumental guitar piece of Dylan, easily his most heartfelt and tender. After writing "Blowin' in the Wind", he came up with this incredible guitar masterpiece. Simple, but poignant and endearing, even Joan Baez and Donovan covered it as did The Byrds. Dylan said, in his autobiography, that this guitar piece was so beautiful, that he didn't want to ruin it with his lyrics and nasally voice, so kept it an instrumental.
A little later it started to turn sour with John and Bob. John ripped into New Morning, not liking the more mellow direction that he had started to take after Blonde on Blonde and getting married in 1966. Just before he died he wrote Serve Yourself, parodying Gotta Serve Somebody, hating the evangelical Christian viewpoint it represented. He also had his son, Julian, in mind whom he felt kept coming to him for hand outs. Unfortunately, there was a harsh and even nasty side to John, though it’s understandable with how he was brought up. And he could be gentle and caring, as per the footage of when the PTSD Vietnam veteran showed up at his house. It’s out there on RUclips somewhere.
I was there, way in the back. Dylan was just a dot in the distance. I thought it was a disappointing show. Perfunctory. Left early. Richie Havens (on earlier that afternoon) was the standout for that weekend, from my point of view. Made all the sitting around and crap (literally) toilet facilities worth it. Almost got crushed in the stampede to leave after Dylan scurried off. Blackbushe was much better, although we had to wait another nine years.
Dylan's set that day was weirdly and possibly intentionally disappointing. If I am not mistaken, it was the first and last time he ever appeared at a music festival.
What happened there was BoB only went there because he didn't want to miss out like he did at Woodstock. The Beatles expected to see a Dylan '66 concert, what they ended up seeing was BoB doing his Nashville scene shit.
@@oliveeisner8964 I read somewhere Bob's and Sara's son Jesse had an accident right at the time of getting to the concert. They had to make alternative travel plans after being at hospital. Most likely affected Bob's performance, he certainly looked unhappy.
lol that must be bullshit, He obviously liked it, he had tons of photographers hired to take pictures with him not only for all of his albums but just for fun around new york city and even his private home in woodstock.
Hey, ask Paul. Both he and John worshiped Dylan. It's Dylan who just received the Nobel Prize for literature...the only songwriter to ever received that award. He's Bob Dylan...and they're not!!! Now, you go smoke some shit, dude!
bodensick I think it's bullshit too. I like Dylan but a noble prize?! The hell are these guy thinking? It's a God damn joke now. Dylan is awesome but he is not worthy of a NP!

You know you're a badass when the Beatles come to see you in concert.
yea, and they put your face in the cover of the most influential and iconic album in music history. thats how badass dylan is.

Because I have read numerous books on the topic, and Mary McCartney was born August 28, 1969

It's fucking hilarious people think the chord played in the background is Dylan.
Do you know what it’s from?
John: I'm going to see Dylan.
Ringo: Can I go with you?
John: Sure!
Ringo: Ok, I'll call George.
John: Ok. Don't tell Paul!
Ringo: I won't!

Thank you for that sweet view.
George looks like, "my goodness did they spot us again, not even in a big croud like this we can hide".
that was the ACTUAL entire concert, dylan picking his guitar for 55 seconds 👍
Very cool. Didn't know this existed. Thought I caught a glimpse of Donovan too.

It was Bob Dylan with the Band! Don’t forget that
What a moment ✌️

Paul might have just had a baby so this is November or after except for past December 1969

Bob Dylan is a god, even The Beatles would pay everything just to see him
I believe this was the Isle of Wight concert
Indeed , to call this a Dylan concert is a bit off the mark .
Yes, definitely not the Isle Of Lucy! ; p

Ringo played guitar for this soundtrack.

is there footage of dylan at the isle of wight festival?
the riff is from indian song called Emptiness

Some hippie noodling on a beach around 2005.

Dylan purposely avoided Woodstock, didn't want anything to do with it. Did Isle of Wight to do his own thing.
