He makes some really creative plays in this highlight package, I wanted Barlow, Musty or Perrault, but I’m warming up to this pick big time. Even the knocks really didn’t bother me, who cares about an empty net goal, he had one bad play the rest were just not working hard enough to cover for Defenders mistakes overcommitting or undercommmiting. Apparently he had 17 Points in 8 GP before getting injured. He was really coming on.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say this kid may be in the top 10 of the draft. I can't wait to see when he puts on a few pounds and is playing with a couple of decent NHL'ers.
If he's that big, and can skate that well, with sweet hands, then whatever he's doing now, why couldn't his upside be very, VERY high? "You can't teach size", or, for that matter, natural offensive instinct, I believe. But you can teach drive, motivation, and unlocking your potential. If those are what he needs to work on, then, get yerself a sports psychologist, Honzek, and become worthy of using your natural skills to be an NHL'er! I like this pick, in the teens, for sure; it may be a gamble, but I like the possible return on the odds. It just may take a little time and development.
Honzek reminds me of a Patrik Eliáš type that thrived in the physical play of the eastern conference. SY knows Detroit will just have to find physical players to be competitive instead of adding star elite forwards as the draft lottery fails to deliver as usual. But this is a big need as Detroit has to add to their LW depth to replace Bertuzzi. His size fits the mold of larger players that SY has been adding to the roster. I think Honzek has a better shot selection than Bertuzzi and is stronger on his skates using his leverage.
A universally loved prospect, but one guy - who even had him ranked between 15-20 (i can't remember who) - said he likely maxes out as a really good bottom six player. I'm just thinking why would that be what you're after in the top 20 of a deep draft??? I haven't been able to wrap my head around that little nugget
He's universally hyped and has gained traction after people heard he had a good interview with Yzerman... so recency bias and he doesn't do anything that wows; I would be very unhappy if the wings took him just because he's a tall center who doesn't really do anything very well and will become a 3rd liner when he eventually makes the NHL. Not interested, pass.
@@MuskratWhiskersI am terrified of this guy being our 9th pick and I’m already mentally preparing for Yzerman to call his name. We need elite offensive upside. We already have a guy that plays like this in Marco Kasper
Great video man but I feel your videos would be better if you told us where you feel he might end up playing in the NHL top six bottom six that kind of thing either than that great video bro
Thanks! Yeah I'm trying to improve as I go along, so thanks for input. Will do that next season. The 2024 draft is pretty stacked too, so it's gonna be fun again in one year.
the opposite of what Yzerman wants in Detroit. Look at the three things he has to improve on & these are the main talking points for what Yzerman is looking for; things Yzerman has said verbatim.
Who's here after the flames drafted him? 🔥
Any Flames fans checking in?
You know it
He looks fantastic
I didn’t find out until after, sportsnet’s draft stream was an absolute horror show

see a lot of Mikko Rantanen in his game, very excited to see him in a Flames uniform.

He's still very raw physically. Gonna be interesting to see him play when he adds some muscle. High upside pick maybe🤔
WELCOME TO CALGARY!
Thank you for the scout: I think Yzerman might move up from 17 to get him...a 1st round of Moore and Honzek would be golden!
Yzerman went to multiple games to watch him. The longest interview redwings had.
Sounds like hes the guy yzerman wants. So possible at 9-17.
I've been waiting on this one, great video!
Thanks for watching! Appreciate the support! Cheers!
I’ve heard Yzerman scouted Giants games and apparently he had a good interview. I think wouldn’t mind him at 17
I could see Honzek landing around there!
I fear he’ll be who yzerman goes with at 9
@@DONWASABIJUAN I don't think Detroit goes with Honzek at 9...much better options in my opinion. But who knows!
You should do a report on Tom Wallinder, he seems to be climbing people’s rankings.
Have him on the list! Hopefully have enough time to get that done...only 2 weeks til NHL Draft! Can't wait!

Lots of talent, would not be disappointed if Blackhawks select him at #19
He won't make it that far, Detroit takes him at either 9 or 17. But i don't think he even makes it to 17.
@@garyvandecar2580juuuuuust missed taking him at 17 lol
As a Flames fan Detroit got a good player at 17 as well. What a good Draft.
i love these videoes
Thanks! Appreciate it! Cheers!
@@nhldraftpros Ofc man i love it and wanted to let you know! are you by any chance a coach for a team? or just interested in hockey?

I just like other players more than him and I'll be putting out a 32 player mock draft to show who I prefer.

Honzek has potential for sure very smooth hands he reminds me the slovak version of Soderblom with a higher flour

Pretty upset calgary took this guy. Alot of talent in the draft and this is who we come out with?
Damn he good should be top 10
Most analysts have him mid 1st ranking. So will be interesting to see where he lands!
honestly I love how he plays for a guy his size but top 10 is WAY too high and especially at this draft not a chance to me
