Whether its the animals, gardens, the mobile home or the food you are making. Or knives, soap, it just doesn't matter. We love to see you & your beautiful family. Take care until next time.

I hope your families can see all your hard work. I’m not related but I am proud of you. I’m a mom of 6 grand mom to 9. I still run a huge garden. Dirt is my Prozac. Still working 1/2 time as a psych RN considering retirement (I am 70). Love to watch your family.

I liked your post. I'm sure your grandkids love goodies out of the garden. Yes working in the garden is so calming. I am 69 and have 7 grandkids and 4 great grandchildren. Taught elementary school for 38 years and still volunteer one day a week and full weeks a couple of times a year when needed. The virus put a damper on that this spring. Hope you keep working part time . It tends to keep one young. Watching Hollar Homestead videos is calming too.

I'm happy to report that our garden is planted and doing well even with yet another threat of frost last week. Really? It's the middle of June already! Thank goodness it missed our area. So good to see you on the vlogs again, Meg. No offense to Ben as he does an amazing job filming, but it is always a treat when the two of you appear together. Lovin' that baby bump, Meg. A note about volunteer tomato's. If you put ANY tomato's in your compost, you will get them. It's fine if the original tomato was heirloom or a good quality natural tomato but it is an absolute nightmare if the tomato was purchased as a potted plant from someplace like Home Depot. The reason is that most store bought tomato plants are raised from Monsanto seeds. They are genetical designed to produce one crop of the correct tomato but their seeds produce towering plants with thousands of flavorless cherry or grape tomato's and they spread like weeds. I am speaking from experience. Try to avoid putting tomato's in your compost. ;)

I am sorry but must disagree with you. My store bought cherry tomatoes reseeded themselves last year and they were phenomenal! They tasted delicious and were so prolific. So much so that late at the end of the season I smashed a bunch into the soil hoping they would seed themselves again. They are growing by the multitudes, still small, time will tell if this season is also a success. I also germinated a bunch of hothouse tomatoes this spring, time will tell on those too but the germination rate was great!

@@Exiled.New.Yorker Makes sense. It was a pain in the butt that we were very careful to never let happen again. But we had these awful plants growing anywhere we put the compost. The lawn, the front flower beds, all over our garden. Hundreds of them.

My husband and I have started a container harmed in southeast Idaho. We are too on the search for our forever homestead. We have learned a lot about tomato plants. They need some help pollinating because they have male and female pollinators. Of you go out and use your hand to disturb the blossoms you will get a higher yield of tomatoes and also pull off the lower limbs of the tomato plants. If the plants are indeterminate pluck off the suckers( these can also be replanted for more plants) the determinant plants you do not want to pull off the suckers. Maybe you already know this, maybe not. Warned my heart to see people praying over their food, not something you see much anymore. Always stay humble and give thanks! Many blessings from ours to yours! ❤️❤️

Looking great everyone. Such a wonderful blessing to eat you own food. Once your freezer is full and your canning shelves are bulging you will so enjoy the winter eating the yummy cache. Nothing like working chickens who are paid in feed and scraps! Keep well. Orchard is doing great and done trees will die if the fruit is in abundance. Even strawberries should not bare fruit the first year. We have rabbits that will eat the bark of fruit trees in winter so we wrap chicken wire a few inches out. from the stock. Such a successful gardening tour!

Love you guys. Me and my husband had a little feed and seed store in the 80's. Hand loaded feed from supplier to our truck. Hand unloaded to our store. Hand loaded to our customers. In the 90's I had bone spur surgery on both shoulders. Just a word to the wise...

Volunteer plants are the best since they grew where it suits them. Nature mixes plants up to help each other. We would benefit from doing more of that in our gardens. Thanks for a sweet video!

Loved the video, great job. Here at Apple Tree Farm our urban homestead in Perth Australia, we had some of our homegrown lettuce in our sandwiches for lunch. Nothing beats homegrown produce harvested straight from your own backyard

We actually harvested more tomatoes from our compost than we did our garden last year, we already have more Tomatoes coming out of compost so I put carriage sprouts and it and somewhere a green bean showed up

Amazing how that garden is doing from that hard soil. As you say before having compost there and late planting there is the best. Blessings for all 👍

I planted cherry tomatoes once 4 years ago and that’s it. They keep coming back each December (in Phoenix) and produce so much. I have a really good sweet and savory tomato jam recipe on my channel you guys should try.

I do a similar meal with sausage, potatoes, onions, carrots and peas. I do mine on the stovetop in a cast iron skillet. I add a little chicken stock (or water) and then hit it with some lemon juice about 5 minutes before it’s done. One of my husband’s favorite meals. So hearty and filling without being too heavy.

I get to make my first apricot cobbler from a tree I planted....I noticed the squirrels were starting to pick them...so I picked them earlier than I wanted to and ripened them in a brown bag.....perfect. Everything you are doing looks wonderful....so glad you enjoy growing food and babies like I did...😁

I agree with you. My plant starts know when they are out in nature. They were yellow and gangly. I put 1/2 of them (the weaklings, mind you) outside to do or die. I ended up putting them all out even though they have 4 more weeks before transplanting for fall harvest, the weaklings look so much better than the ones I saved inside.
