If we get a fine ect we have to pay it ourselves, even homeless people have to pay if not its taken out of benefits or banged up its a joke.

@Saudade720 The CAA would disagree with you. Under the enforcing drone rules section on their web page: "The Police are responsible for taking enforcement action when it is believed that the requirements of the law have not been met. Depending on the circumstances, this action could be taken against the operator, remote PILOT, or both." They clearly state that the flyer is a remote PILOT.

But I always say in the comment section regarding drones is that if you can get an old two stick controller perhaps from a video game or from some source, stand on the sidewalk and look up in the sky and work the sticks back-and-forth and let them think what they want. It’s always a good idea to make sure there’s no battery in the control controller because that would prove for sure that it wasn’t a viable instrument that worked. We have many stupid police in the United States just like you do in the UK. Probably when they get old enough that they shouldn’t be working at a fast food restaurant they gravitate towards law-enforcement.

He got off lightly though. Interfering with a person piloting a drone is an offence. The cop arrested Reggie because he believed that Reggie was in the process of flying a drone. That is reckless endangerment. At the very least, if the pee-eye-gee claims that he performed the arrest _knowing_ that Reggie was not in fact flying a drone then the arrest becomes unlawful.
I would have taken the arrest and then I would have taken the cops to the cleaners. That cop should be facing charges and the sergeant should be demoted. Instead, HNK get paid, Reggie gets a bit of STFU-money, the tax-payer gets a bill and the cops get away with criminal conduct. Hardly a 'win' in my view.

Now that you are quids in, you may be able to afford a holiday to Morocco.
Was that a Christmas present from the men in blues ? 😅
Give some of it to your local church. Not church inn !
    Ciao pal .
    As ever, you've been great.
Should I come back to the good old blighty, I'll definitely come and see ya.

Police should have public liability and pay for it themselves, as premiums increase maybe they would think twice and investigate as we are innocent until proven guilty.

The whole attitude, he was on a power trip.
No interest in facts or law.
You can bet he's done some dodgy arrests.
He couldn't cope with having his zero authority being unravelled.

The absolute confidence that they said that “you ARE committing an offence” they completely jumped the gun and looked like fools. There is no need for the victim to give any information. So the responsibility is on the office to investigate correctly.

If you're "not in it for the money", why settle out of court?
By continuing to settle out of court, you're allowing these tyrants to continue to act the way they do.

Great result Reggie. However I am all for you spending your award towards your better half on a short brake or something nice to sweeten her up and thank her for putting up with you, rather than give it to some, what I would call, shady charity. I, in my own world would be most happy making my partner happy for a change than anything else in the world. do the right thing laddie and treat the one lady in your life. 🖖👍

I know you're not doing it for the money, but surely the best result for a settlement is positive sanction on the scumbag who arrested you. A note on his service record could mean more than taxpayer's money. Just a thought Reggie ^ Happy New Year!

It's winds me up when coppers get told there will be a claim against them and they acting like yep that's fine because it's not coming out of they're pockets why should they care! They should make it come out of they're wages that will make them think more carefully about they're actions
