@@ligonis15yup I stepped in dog poop once on the walk to school when it was snowing. All of my friends were disgusted.. I really just wish people would not make such a hassle and clean up after their dog.
That would require the majority of pet owners to be responsible, which they’re not. It’s easy to impulsively buy an animal just because they’re cute. Not easy to actually be a good & considerate pet owner
To clarify, even if you clean after, the parasite eggs could already be in the sand. Even if it looks clean, consider every place like beaches or parks infected all over the place.
Well, they’re microscopic, so even if they were there, you wouldn’t be able to see them, so the sand looking “clean” is irrelevant. They typically only remain in the environment for 3-4 weeks but can live as deep as 6 inches in the soil
Easily cured really. I contracted a hookworm after a trip to the beach in Antigua. I wasn't buried in the sand but took a sea bath close to shore and only washed off the sand when I returned to the cruise ship. The pharmacist gave me an easy one time treatment for it. It in a few days it was gone.
That's why my parents always warn me about always wearing shoes when in contact with soil cause the worms can get into your foot. These case is pretty common back then.
I hate seeing dogs at the beach. I get so grossed out. And this just validated my feelings. Tbh I hate seeing dogs anywhere. It’s not the dogs. It’s their owners who think everyone loves their “fur baby” and wants to be near them.
I went through a sand tunnel once, and it collapsed on me. Had to wiggle my feet around so my friends knew i was suffocating. I'm so glad i didn't get ringworms that day because I've had them as a child, and it sucked... Edit: Just realised it says hookworm. 😅
That's why my toddler is not going to the beach like that. I carry her to see the water, and we walk around away from sand. It's filled with bacteria, but the kid is going to be fine. I always wear sandals, too.
How can you allow your child to eat sand 😮. Maybe seat your child on a blanket and don’t allow child to stray? Or wait til child is older and knows btr? Stick to the pool.
Was from a dogs fecal matter.. the beach just doesn't have this by nature. It was a neglectful owner who didn't care enough to pick up after their dog-@@tangoblastyuhhh2023
This is actually one reason why I hate the beach, another reason is because I just hate sand in general it’s course, rough and irritating and it get everywhere
I used to think dogs were amazing, but over time, my perspective changed. I began to notice several troubling behaviors and issues associated with dogs. They often pee everywhere, which can destroy vegetation, and they carry parasites that can cause serious problems. Additionally, they can be aggressive toward other animals and sometimes even people, including infants. Their possessive and jealous nature has been known to cause friction in relationships. Furthermore, their habit of licking their own and other dogs' butts and then licking their owners can be quite off-putting.
you don't need to be buried in sand either, you can pick them up in any warm climate by going barefoot. Also if you don't know you have them it's gonna be a nightmare using the toilet in a few months X_X
I've been telling you this people for about 20 years your dogs poop on the grass you act like you did a big favor by picking up the poop you didn't pick up the worms and then some kid lays down there and the worms get on them or some other disease if you own pets they need to stay in your backyard

hey when you go to like South American beaches and they crawl up your foot to your brain and eat your brain and your life aaaaaahhhhhh and then no more
I have never been to the beach, my family saved 20 years of work to take all my siblings to the beach this year, we wanted to do this when we arrived, it made me want to cry because we really wanted to play and have fun in the sand
Wrote a thesis on hook worm on my level 3 dog grooming exam. Walking on grass in parks, hook worms will burrow under your skin. To a dog the hook worm can be fatal as they make their way into the internal organs. It is a zoonotic disease, rare for humans to die from hook worm, but it has happened.
Well, getting buried in the beach is something I will never do again
For more reasons than one--two siblings in Florida were playing this game, one died when the hole collapsed.
Same
Ever since this came out on the news, I’ve never been buried
Not an extremely safe activity anyway
Agreed, I’m keeping that in mind whether we go to the beach
As a dog owner, it's so ignorant to not clean up after your pet. It's bad for others and it gives responsible pet owners a bad name.
I felt bad for him. But luckily it wasn't a baby or a toddler.
Agree my friend
What if it was a stray dog?
