His studio recordings are great, but his live performances are outstanding!
Blew us all out the back door at a small venue in San Diego last month, The Music Box in Little Italy (SD): Allen's soul savant voice, his band is fine, very fine, and I noted that his guitar playing and stage presence get better and better--because he plays, a lot, and, no doubt, loooves to play and sing. Allen Stone = Church.

To me it does because that's how a person continues to learn, although this is an amazing composition, I am still curious.
I think there's a little mic going into the soundhole of his hummingbird.
At 1:39 you can see the cable/wire of the mic which is inside his guitar. I think a normal piezo microphone
