This is the coolest way I've seen someone solve this - incredible to know there is a relatively spook free method to solving all of these library room puzzles.
If anyone want to try the normal route and is having issues with the strangers, try focusing on them from afar instead of concealing near. Despite their size, they walk incredibly slowly and never run, unless you're too close! The darkness is the biggest issue, only conceal if you are dead certain where you're going next :)
Andrew Cunningham recently made a great short video essay where he talked about the sneaking and had a very similar thinking ! This made me think of it, i recommend checking it out
I've seen the alternate way of doing the puzzle, to avoid the main sneaky section, only twice before. And only one of them felt legit. If you learn this secret first, you can scout out this area for additional secret routes, as well as making the other two sneaky sections much easier. If you learn the secret of the "band house" first, using another entrance (it's the only way, no alternates), applying that technique here is easier to spot. Since you have the most time here before forced out, many people end up figuring out this one first, but the hard way. And you had the main idea; trick them. And once you learn how you can trick them, also the tower gets much more easier. You just never saw there was two routes into the wakeup bell totem thing.
Part 6, yessss! Been loving your playthrough and while I’m sad it’s coming to an end soon, I’m also excited to see what games you’ll tackle next! EDIT: the way you solved this section was genius! I did it the same way because I also wanted nothing to do with sneaking in the dark. Congratulations!

Hey, it looks like the description of this video is exactly the same as the last one (Absolutely loving the playthrough btw, finally got around to watching it since I saw you posted the finale)
I had no idea you could solve it that way! The funniest thing about everyones (myself included) difficulty with the "stealth" sectors, is that once you get over your fear and simply bait them, it's trivial. You can keep your light on and looking at them like 95% of the time, walking them around a loop.
I was about to type something about the DLC's theme being about facing your fears even if the unknown scares you, so at some point you have to stealth....and then you found the workaround to completely avoid all the stealth sections lol. Brillz.
Oh how I wish I figured that last one out myself... I hated that stealth section SO much that I ended up spoiling myself the glitch. The no-stealth solution is not really well known even now. Mad respect!
That was amazing. Intellectually, I know that solution for Endless Canyon, since I've read a ton of threads on Reddit, but I don't think I've ever seen anyone actually do it. And I've watched a lot of playthroughs. I love your confidence that there would be a fun solution, and I'm glad you didn't give up.
Considering you were literally just steps away from completing this using the sneak method (just had to light that bridge on the other side of the bookshelf you kept getting to then get caught for a quick reset to start), I'm surprised you halted attempted that to find a different method. However discovering this alternate method is undoubtedly more satisfying. Impressive!
Your gameplay is so unique. It really shows how well you understand the story and layout of the game. Can’t wait to see your reaction on the last episode!!😆
I'm shocked that there is more than 1 way to get to the last secret archive. You are very good at finding alternative ways to solve problems in games!)
I think "sneaking" is the intended solution (more specifically using your lantern focus to lure the guards away), Andrew Cunningham has a great video dissecting the stealth in the dlc. To me the only one that feels unintended is starlight cove as you only get like two minutes as you've already found out.
I watched his video (it was linked a bunch after the last episode hahaha), and while I love his thoughts on it, my takeaway wasn’t that sneaking was the only intended method… it’s that sneaking AND coming up with other solutions like I did are both intentional. Somebody really aptly put it like solving problems the Feldspar way vs the Riebeck way: both are valid, which is why both work in the game. And it’s a theme we see in many areas of the base game as well, that there’s usually multiple ways to approach a problem. ::) I think the Starlit Cove one, while punishing, was still equally as intended as sneaking. That area overall is just supposed to be the hardest area either way you go. Otherwise why have the owlks die there with enough time to reach the archives? And if you move up farther where I did vs the area Andrew tried waiting out, and don’t panic, you can read 2 slide reels pretty easily. Which gives you a 2/3s chance of getting the one that tells you the death trick. It’s definitely the least elegant solution of the bunch, but given the other two have such blatant methods of bypassing the sneak section, I can’t imagine they unintentionally left this way in when they had to make choices such as literally having the tower falling leading to the owlks death, the distance to reach the archives, how far the slide reels were from the projector, etc.
@@BeccaBytes Totally agree that both paths are completely valid, all's fair in love and time loops after all haha. Looking forward to the conclusion and seeing what you tackle next.
I've seen quite a few playthroughs and yet I didn't know there was a _clever_ solution for this hidden library access. Excuse me for a second, I 've gotta pick up my jaw from the floor.
And then there's the third way: if you already know the glitch secret of the area, and you set down your lantern outside, you can see another invisible bridge which will take you directly from the starting side of the cliffs over to the area with the elevator; allowing you to completely bypass the sneaking whilst also not requiring a bunch of pre-setup and coming into the simulation from another location.
@@sykes1024 Yeah, there's a non-zero chance to discover the lantern rendering sphere by accident, or even intentionally if you just want to find out what happens if you leave it behind.
Finding the other skill would have helped greatly in the vaults section. I accidentally found all of them, I think, but at the Wrong Times, so I was just overall very confused. I stealthed my way through everything, but had I used the “recon” skill, or remembered “this game is A TIME LOOP”, I probably would have found better pseudo-stealth methods.

MEEE TOO I WAS SO STUCK. It was obvious in hindsight but something about the layout broke my brain a bit, maybe it’s because I had spent a lot of energy on attempting to sneak initially 😆
Yeah, I knew I could probably get the sneak section with a few more tries but tbh it wasn’t feeling as fun or satisfying as I knew figuring out a non-sneak route would be! And I was right, the solving the puzzle high was perfect 😊
Well done! This section is actually the first I did, and I cheesed it just like you because I was scared shitless every. single. time I got caught! I’m glad you did it that way; many people say you can cheese the section by using the invisible bridges (and you can), but *how* is one supposed to know where the invisible bridges are without knowing the lantern trick? This way of doing it is much more intuitive and requires no solution/backseating!
@@Steller_Drifter the third option (the extra secret bridge) can only normally be found _after_ reaching that same Forbidden Archive, though. Becca's way is the only non-sneaking way to reach it that doesn't require either outside knowledge or accidentally discovering Matrix mode beforehand.
@@gabedamien tbh she even mentioned extra invisible bridges in her ramblings. I was really afraid that this untapped genius would deduce that there indeed is another secret bridge.
If you don't mind sugesstions there is a game I think you'll like. Zero Escape: The Nonary Games is a collection of mostly visual novel death games that do a lot with multiple timelines and big questions. It's made by the same people who did Danganronpa. I think the last game in the series (Zero Time Dilemma) is worth it even if you don't play any of the others. It really blew my mind when I played it.
I am so psyched up you figured out the alternate route here. I kept ramming my head against the sneak section till i got through and was just disappointed. Only found out there was an alternate way recently, after id finished the game. On the other hand, i didnt have any trouble in rhe starkit cove cause fir most if my playthrough i thought you *had* to die to go into it. I just fiund it by accident, only used napping later.
Correct me if I'm wrong but in the first simulation section -- the river lowlands or whatever, where the owlks are doing an outdoor pilgrimage between buildings in the dark -- that *cannot* be done purely with stealth, right? You have to arrange to get there after those owlks died to reach the fireplace. Which is the way Becca did it. Well maybe speedrunner types can YOLO across that crowded room into the fireplace but it doesn't feel intentional
This is correct, the first zone requires circumventing the Owlks. The second zone (which Becca had to do in multiple rounds) almost, but not quite (as Becca showed), requires sneaking. And this third zone is kind of in the middle; it has a clean but non-obvious workaround that leaves you enough time to watch all the reels, but most people still solve it the "sneaking" way.
Congrats on avoiding sneaking! There is however an even quicker way to solve this which doesn't need the elevator. I suggest trying your new found skill around this area.
What is your background / training in? I feel like it’s a science, but I have no evidence, other than a proclivity toward choosing the exact decisions I would have made, had I not done a vibey playthrough and actually sat and thought more. And I teach math.
Honestly, it sucks a little that you discovered the unrendered vision bug last. Knowing about it makes a lot of the difficult parts of the DLC way easier, as you can use it to get a good layout of the enemies in the dark. I'm very excited for the next episode.
I’m personally totally fine with it because I think I enjoyed the DLC way more due to figuring out ways to not sneak as a result! I thought I was just solving puzzles to not have to stumble around in the dark which was fun. And how the sneak sections were laid out weren’t my cup of tea personally (if I had to actually sneak through them) in a way I don’t think utilizing that bug would have resolved. :)

Yeah, I knew I could probably get the sneak section with a few more tries but tbh it wasn’t feeling as fun or satisfying as I knew figuring out a non-sneak route would be! And I was right, the solving the puzzle high was perfect 😊
Sometimes you just need to take a leap of faith…
… or two.
22:14 great now you know how to get to the simulation world 🤣
I'm actually impressed you were able to find a non-sneak way to get the third archive, I thought there was no other way than to sneak in the dark.
There is a third option. A third bridge.
LETS GOOOOOO!!!! Another BeccaBytes video, another GREAT DAY!
I'm ready for the finale!!
bruh i can not wait a week for the next video im gonna implode
Good news, it’s coming out on Friday!! I just had a couple of one video weeks due to a family circumstance and then getting the flu 🫶
I’m so ready
We are so back!
Did you get an achievement for blowing yourself up with the prototype lantern? I had no idea you could do that.
Yup! The achievement is called “Early Adopter” 😆
The "Did they kill their kids?" at 1:01:07 took me out. It's a good question but it also hit me like a brick.
Congrats on avoiding sneaking! There is however an even quicker way to solve this which doesn't need the elevator. I suggest trying your new found skill around this area.
I need to see you play Subnautica.
What is your background / training in?
I feel like it’s a science, but I have no evidence, other than a proclivity toward choosing the exact decisions I would have made, had I not done a vibey playthrough and actually sat and thought more.
And I teach math.
I'm sad that this is coming close to an end. Any plans on what game is next?
Edit: Maybe Subnautica?
I'd loooove to see her amazing mystery-solving tackle Return of the Obra Dinn!
@@willmiles7978 ooh, that's a good one too.
Is it murder? Sure.
This game is so poggers
