The disc drive has the capability to read CDRoms (PS1 and some PS2) and DVDRoms (Most PS2) and Blue Ray (PS3/4/5). Make an emulator, Allow us to use our old discs, Hell, I'll pay money for official emulators on the PS5.

That is never going to happen. They will only allow to re-buy old games on PSN, as downloads. They will want to make more money from this. But also on a technical level - adding new features (like Trophy support) is probably not possible if the games ran from disk, in a generic emulator; instead, they create a specifically adapted version of the emulator for each game and wrap it right into it. Adjusting and optimizing the emulation for each game takes some effort, which is another reason why they certainly want you to buy those PS2 games on PSN.

@bellissimo4520 or like with most modern games you put it the disc and get the necessary updates from the store. Xbox actually does sonething similiar for their older games 360 I'm sure but original Xbox I'm not sure
Bring killzone 1, Medal of Honor, Silent Hill, Time Splitters, Ratchet & Clank, in general so many bangers from the Ps2. Bring Back all the Classics!
pretty much the Entire Ratchet & Clank series is already available digitally through PS+. Including Tools of Destruction which i dont think was ever available on anything but the PS3. i think the only ones not available though PS+ are the PSP games.

I would be happy actually if they made PS5 Pro be able to read old console discs. This would be a good move on Sonys part, but probably won't happen. The first iteration od PS3 could read PS1 & PS2 games. Would really be wonderful if they add such an option

Unless the emulator allows you to play PS2 games from disc, Sony's going to run into the same licensing problems that plague Xbox. They can't sell a PS2 game digitally without the consent of the rights holder, and many older games have been orphaned, making it impossible to sell them digitally.
I think the difference is that these games will be locked behind the premium tier of PS+ (like the psp and ps1 games). The money generated from those subscriptions will go the publishers to get around the licensing issues.

I still use my PS4 from time to time due to having quite a few Indies & AA Games on it that I still need to play and complete, that's pretty much what I primarily use my PS4 for these days.

I'm also not too happy with MS decision to bring their games on Playstation because I do agree competition is good for the industry, but if they actually do this and is 100% confirmed, then I guess MS is giving up on Xbox, or they just don't care to compete and just bring their games to other platforms. They might as well take the Sega route and go third party already.

Trouble with SONY is the PS2 emulator won't play physical disks like the xbox can do with previous generations. I'll never buy a PS5 unless physical PS2 games will be able to be played on a PS5.

The sly cooper you’re referring to is only on cloud not local play like I’m referring to on the video. It’s locked there because you need premium to stream the games.
You can buy locally playable ps1 and psp games on ps5. This would be the same. 🤙🏽

Probably a long shot but I would like the DBZ Budokai series and the DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi series. I’d play those to prepare for Sparking Zero but I don’t know if it’d be a licensing issue for some of those or not considering that some of those games have copyright music and I think Bandai would have to give them permission too. I’d also like Spider-Man 1, 2, and Ultimate Spider-Man as well as Need for Speed Underground 1-Most Wanted 2005. Sly Cooper as well and if they do PS3 eventually I’d love it if they include InFAMOUS 1, 2, and Festival of Blood and Batman Arkham Origins. That’s if they can ever do PS3 at any point. There are so many games I want to play that I want to be on PS4/5 but unfortunately they are only on old consoles. I have PS2 and PS3 but I hate switching all the time just to play certain games. I’d rather have them all under one roof.
I really hope that one day we have the option to play these classic games we already own rather than just having to buy the games again or subscribe to the service. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾💿

I don’t know why Halo/Gears and Forza, but the PlayStation position was if the ABK deal went through they wouldn’t give MS PS6 SDKs. If those can’t me to PlayStation I have to believe sunsetting Xbox hardware wouldn’t be too far after that.

I would like to see Timesplitters future perfect on my PS5, I think this is possible as embracer group would allow the PS2 port to make any money, they made the Tomb Raider trilogy from PS1 for the Evercade
Also on the earlier topic of Microsoft making games for PlayStation this could go any way for both companies, in Microsoft's favour if the games coming out on playstation and playstation fans start thinking why am I waiting a year and paying full price for the game when I could get a Xbox and play the game when it 1st comes out and free of charge (Game pass) or it could go into Sony's favour and Xbox players start thinking why am I bothering with Xbox when I can get the game on Playstation and also the games exclusive to PlayStation and not on Xbox by getting a playstation
