One can evaluate better this meeting by reading about it in en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leon_Trotsky . He and Lenin were allies at first, fierce adversaries in the party later and allies again in 1917-23, but never close friends. There were too many disagreements between them, as Trotsky was never an unconditional follower of Lenin as some others were.

what the factions of soviet socialism don't understan when debating the issue of the 1920's and the continuation of the revolution is that Lenin, Trotsky and Stalin work on the same socialist organization for more than 15 years without major contradictions, always debating with respect; then in the transition to post Lenin's leadership, the organization lost balance and lost the democratic element of 'democratic centralism' , Stalin can be blame for that, but Trostky neither was an angel...

      > Lenin, Trotsky and Stalin work on the same socialist organization for more than 15 years without major contradictions
Blatantly false, Trotsky had not become a Bolshevik until August 1917, when he was purged it had hardly been 10 years.
And lack of contradiction? Lenin stated both "Trotsky has never yet held a firm opinion on any important question of Marxism. He always contrives to worm his way into the cracks of any given difference of opinion and desert one side for the other. At the present moment he is in the company of the Bundists and the liquidators. And these gentlemen do not stand on ceremony where the Party is concerned." and "The obliging Trotsky is more dangerous than an enemy! Trotsky could produce no proof, except "private conversations" (i.e., simply gossip, on which Trotsky always subsists), ........ . How obliging Trotsky is! "
Is this not a contradiction between Lenin and Trotsky? To think that there were little contradictions when Trotsky had opposed the Bolshevik line in an attempt of unity with the right-opportunist Mensheviks for years is a massive misrepresentation of history.

I think you need to try doing your research better. This is not to discount the role Trotsky played in that time period and some other things he did well, but he was hardly special. In fact he spent more time trying to discredit Lenin than working with him.
