Fall of Eagles: Lenin and Trotsky in London
Просмотров 76 тыс.13 лет назад
Excerpt from "Absolute Beginners"; the sixth episode of the 1974 British television program Fall of Eagles. Trotsky arrives in London and discusses the revolution with Lenin.
This is one of Picard’s guilty pleasure private holodeck programs he would rather not have his crew members participate in.
The Vladimir Lenin Has Retured To Russia To Start New Era In Russia, The Era Of Socialism And Communism. The Emperor Nicholas II Romanov Is Downed. Autocratic Imperial Monarchy Of Russia Is Downed. But That Will Not Stop Us, There Are Who Are Russian People Who Are Imperial Autocratic Monarchists Who Will Fight For The Petrograd And The Emperor Of All-Russia Against Communism And Socialism.God, Save The Emperor Nicholas II Romanov Of All-Russia!👑🇷🇺☦️
The show makes it look like they went directly from Germany to Russia, when it didn't happen that way since both countries were at war. The train stopped at Sassnitz so that they could go through neutral Sweden and later Finland, then part of the Russian Empire.
Me in 2023: Can't wait for next year. Me in 2024: 0:30
3:54 "Have you shown it to Picard?" You ARE Picard dude!
"And then we sell newspapers! And nothing else!" - modern trots
I am an actual communist theorist, and I find myself referring people back to this little clip over and over, to explain the point that Jean-Luc Lenin explains to ol' Lev here. This was such a good series.
Sadly, people use mergings and the resulting body horror as a sick joke in comedy now these days
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 OPPOSIZIONE INTERNAZIONALISTA ALLA. GUERRA DI UCRAINA E ALLA GUERRA DI GAZA PROLETARI. DI TUTTI IPAESI UNITEVI
The above title, it should be 'Trotzky' not the name in the above title.
Very good.
kinda payed off for Germany. pretty incredible. didn't matter in the end tough
Classic nut cases !
Now this is problem with ussr don t become an emigre u need to accept emigre or become one the ussr isn't t the only commuist country yes they were the first but the ideology came from Germany from the west commuistm and socialism are western ideology whoever called eastern European communists states they are deceiving themselves when ussr was born they tried to russialy the entire country instead of creating a multinational state now u see why they broke up the battics didn't want part of the ussr and they were the first to leave if the ussr is a liberal socialist Capitalist state they would have survived the usa survived because they did have socialist gov in their system the democrats they also the Capitalist gov aka the old Republicans today Republicans are 😞😞😞😞😞😞reglious idiots the point is u need both to survive and don't russiaity the other entics groups
Lenin….genocidal maniac.
Imagine defending feudalism and the romenovs 😂
Is this a holodeck
Picard using the hollodeck to play V.I. LENIN. HEHEY
Perfect for the role. Great likeness.
Someone more skillful than myself could this into an entertaining video on TikTok to serve the Cultural Revolution.
Very annoying listening to a person talking while eating
10:07 the final bit still astounds me. The sudden cutting off of the music and the dates for Lenins birth and death just plough into you how momentous this one man was. A couple of episodes ago he stepped into a room full of marxists nobodies milling about talking while eating pancakes, couple of episodes on hes about to take over Russia. That final freezeframe says it all, he gets off a train, and his place in history is secured forever. Just staggering when one thinks about it. The sheer will, the force of petsonality, the absolute disciplined ruthleness, his tactical genius, his almost superhuman understanding of opportunities and moments to strike. While every other european revolutionary, from Luxemburg to Lukacs, failed, he and he alone suceeded. What a momentous man. What a force of nature.
One can evaluate better this meeting by reading about it in en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leon_Trotsky . He and Lenin were allies at first, fierce adversaries in the party later and allies again in 1917-23, but never close friends. There were too many disagreements between them, as Trotsky was never an unconditional follower of Lenin as some others were.
Twerkers of the world untie!
Is it true Lenin is supposed to have spoken English with an Irish accent?
Yeah and he apparently would have spoken in an accent that would have been considered posh, i wish we had more recordings of comrade Lenin
Is that Lenin? Don't make fun of my slippers!
This is bombastic caricature has little to do with reality
I don’t see how Stewart plays Lenin as a ‘bombastic’ caricature. For a 70’s miniseries, Stewart does not overact, and they did good on his appearance (he looks like Vladimir). The problem is Trotsky, his actor is good and his characterization but he just looks like he’s wearing a Halloween costume.
How is Patrick Stewart only 33 years old in this?
he looks pretty young if you look close. no wrinkles. they just added some grey hairs to make him look older.
Stalin the murderer killed all these men and women and destroyed the revolution.
hard to say. i would love a real investigation of what happened in 1930s. unfortunately, we won't get it.
Don't let the romanticization of the screen fool you. Lenin was as much an opportunistic murderer as Stalin.
Then the first million to be murdered under the soviet would die under him, followed by another 20 million under Stalin
Patrick Stewart would have made a great Ming the Merciless.
Lensky of pushkin
Lenin was in Zurich. Castro was in Santiago. Khomenini was in Paris. When a government is overthrown, the new leader will be far afield.
If I recall correctly, when the Iranian prime minister Moussadeq was toppled by a coup, the Shah was so scared that the people would resist HE fled the country, and only flew back when the deed was done.
I really wish Trotsky could have just held his tongue and got behind Stalin. Together, a great socialist age would have come. Alas
Michael Kitchen and Patrick Stewart! What a combination!
Is that Jean-Luc Picard LOL oh my God
Now I'm glad this game was too hard for me to be when I was a kid
Pro communist propaganda
I mean they are Lenin and Trotsky
everything is propaganda, you are not immune to propaganda
It’s a show portraying Lenin and Trotsky. Any scene with them will be communist. Especially since it doesn’t portray them in a ‘cartoonish’ villain way. It focuses much more on portraying the last heads of dynasties, such as Tsar Nicholas II.
Lenin was a ruthless disgusting murderer. It's too bad that train didn't jump the rails into a deep ravine.
good point. I think you should do a powerpoint presentation on this at your KKK meeting
@@CoolGobyFishWhile you defend a political plague that destroyed whole people's and their cultures with your trite and juvenile sneer. That is the mentality of leftism.
Patrick Stewart’s performance and uncanny resemblance made me believe that he was Lenin reborn😮😮😮😮😮
Before Thatcher there really was a left in the UK, idiots call the BBC left wing now, but they would never make a show like this.
Stewart is a socialist.
He barely looks the part
The Germans sending Lenin back was horrible long term for the germans and the world. Imagine if they had just killed lenin and his peeps. No stalin.. No red army. maybe the Tsar is restored.. Maybe the provisional governemnt could of made real democracy...
Dude, you hardly know history. Lenin overthrew the Provisional Government, which was made up Revolutionary Socialists (non-Marxcist communists) and Kadets (centrists party). While Provisional Govenment had good intention, it shot itself in a foot by continuing the un-winable war with Germans. They also failed to coduct labor and land reforms. If it wasn't for Lenin, there would have been another revolution or a civil war. At that time, the country was falling apart and Provisional Government was losing power every day.
@@CoolGobyFish Lenin and the Bolsheviks dismantled the [democratically elected] provisional government because they lost and were sore losers. Nothing hard to figure out there, and the result of their stealing the election was, what? The invasion of Poland, the disintegration into civil war, and the setting up of disasters policies like war communism and the NEP. Kerensky was an angel compared to Lenin and his cronies. As far as "unwinnable", what even does that mean? By your same logic, socialism is unsustainable, yet I doubt very much you deride it.
Comrade Lenin
So is the Capitalist ending one dude with feet made out of billions of other dudes?
The capitalist ending would be the one where the rich lady is crushed under a meteor of gold
I just started reading State and Revolution, and I can't stop reading it in Stewart's voice.
Same!
Retard degenerates. How pathetic does a person have to be to be taken in by Marxism? It clearly explains how it manipulates you and still you love it 😂😂 The entire ideology revolves around theft and diminishing yhe individual.
1:58 Earl Grey, hot
Storm the winter palace? Make it so!
Actually, that never happened. The provisional government fell apart, and the Bolsheviks just walked into the Winter Palace and took over the government.
@@SymphonyBrahms I kind of feel bad for Kerensky, the president of Provisional Government. He was also a socialist and wanted the best, but made a huge mistake by continuing the war with Germany. He never took part in the civil war and his hands are clean of blood. From what I've read, he didn't support reds nor whites.
Steward is Wayyyyy too into playing Lenin...Secret communist.
He's an open socialist
I always though Picard was a Commie at heart.
