E46 Rear Subframe - removal

330Ci non m E46 removing the rear suspension and subframe as an assembly. Not to many tips or pointers but at least a it’s a quick representation of what’s involved. It’s a struggle with the differential left in place (heavy). It wants to pull the subframe rearwards when lowering. Space it with a 2x4 block and have a trans jack that can tilt forwards to compensate for the diff’s weight leaning backwards. I learned that the hard way.

Did you remove the subframe with the car in 4 stands ? Rest of the car/ engine intact? Any issue of car falling forward around weight removal/subframe removal ?

It was on jack stands. Engine and trans left in place. The car didn’t move, although it probably wouldn’t hurt to throw a jack under the front subframe just in case
