Dark souls: you’re stuck in a room with demons
Doom: demons are stuck in a room with you
Well you don't have machine guns in Dark Souls.
alex H that's the way I like it
Jacob Clark I don't know what dark souls you play, I always use an Abrams tank. gives me a challenge
More like
Doom: demons are stuck in a room with me
i can't believe noone noticed the Watchmen reference
I wish this movie was a ridiculously long series like resident evil
Andrew Ziegler it might actually flesh out to something good
L0RD J3STER exterminatus? Woah there inquisitor hold up. Honestly all I’m saying is that I would have preferred this movie becoming a series over resident evil, because honestly I never liked RE but I did enjoy this movie.
L0RD J3STER it may have deviated far, but I only see the same name and enjoy them as different entitys.
As a side note, I absolutely love the futuristic mock ups on the rifles
Andrew Ziegler lol no don't. Once a film reaches a certain number it's all about money. Which means most if the creators wont give a damn what they throw in.
Knowing Rock was originally wanted for Reaper's role just makes his line "I'm not supposed to die" even better. I always found that line hilarious since it's the Rock and you didn't expect him to be the bad guy that would need to die, but he literally was supposed to be the good guy who should live to the end!
It reminds me of Day of the dead, when Gary Klar signed up to play as the main antagonist 'Rhodes' but the director thought he was better to play as Steel instead and it turned out to be better.
karl>the rock 💯
Supposed to based on absolutely nothing, sure.
That was how he saw himself, but it wasn’t who he chose to be.
I’m surprised that the rock was actually a bad guy and not like reaper
Yeah, that movie was bullshit.
But it's damn good bullshit.
Not gonna lie, this is my guilty pleasure movie. I don't know why but I love it.
Same here Matt!
Do you really Edit for Shadiverity?
Same
Because it was a good action movie
i thought the rock was doom guy but it was reaper lol
they should make a new doom movie where the main character just doesn't care about the plot and he just runs around killing demons like doom 4 :)
Dayton K wait help me out what's doom 4.
search up trailers for doom 4 ps its a game that came out 2016 or 17
He means Doom 2016. Doom 4 was canned for playing too much like COD.
Dayton K I mean in doom (2016) he’s not mindlessly wrecking demons. He’s pissed off because one he’s been woken up in hell again and second the mars base was infested with demons on purpose
theres actually one in production comming out in 2019
Honestly, this is one of my favorite sleeper movies. That part where Carl Urban wakes up and the camera becomes first person will always be one of my favorites!
There is actually a small nod in the film where they say the creatures are from hell.
There is a bit where Sam and John are speaking about the accident where John says this place is hell and always will be. It’s also later said when John sends the Sarge back through the ark after the boss battle and he says go to hell.
Not outright saying that the creatures were from hell but was a nice nod to the games.
Its funny to see the rock look normal and not all hulk like 😂💀
he's still pretty big!
FilmComicsExplained definitely 😂😂 now he looks so swollen though.
He grew with his age
And eventually become a Rock
He evolved to the boulder
When the BFG was called the "Big F-N Gun" by the Rock's character, I busted out laughing and said "Yes! they used it!"
My friend whom never played Doom was confused by my statement and so I explained to him the Fanbase dubbing the BFG with it's more 'common' name.
Mistah Bryan because bio force gun doesnt sound as cool! Lol
The fanbase didn't name it the big fucking gun, the devs did
Yeah BFG always stood for Big F'kn Gun. That was intended by the devs.
It takes a special kind of skill to miss ALL 3 shots with the BFG.
@@WickedFamix it called the big force gun
“They are rage, brutal, without mercy...you...you will be worse”
*Rip and Tear, until it is DONE*
Best lime from this movie you may ask?
"IM NOT SUPPOSED TO DIE YET"
-The rock
Mmm my fav was actually "Semper Fi, mother$^$*#"
Didn't Pinky turn into one of those demons with wheels at one point?
yep!
In the fps scene
Pinky is also the name of the demon in the game
Pinky turned into a pinky
Pinky turned into a paraplegic Hell-Knight... Or atleast one of them did.
I don't get why they totally moved away from the source material.
They should have had all the cool monsters like Hell-Baron and Revenants etc, and had the portal linking to Hell.
The Business execs in charge of the movie where big Religious types that refused the film to have actual demons in it, and thus the film's antagonists were changed to genetic mutants.
I don't think audiences would really buy it. The demon angle is very weird and out there for regular audiences. And it makes more sense to go the safer, traditional science bullshit way. Think about it, would regular audiences buy a trailer that stuck with the source material? "Demons on MARS? Get the fuck outta here.." Know what I mean?
@@AgentFlea that's the problem. It's either you stick to your identity or pretend like something else to appeal to masses. I'm grateful that doom 4 and eternal would just go with "deal with it" approach. Not so much people like the new doom 2016 or the new eternal. But it sure forever in the community's heart.
While this movie was just short aged. Not so much care or remember it anymore. Take notes from Evil Dead series. It sticks to its original forte. And it is successful
For me, it is always better to appeal to the fans rather than regular audiences. Changing the identity of a franchise just to appeal to regular audiences for me, is the same as slitting your own throat
There was another movie about a portal into hell. It was Event Horizon. It failed.
Baron of Hell.
Doom Game: Demons come from hell
Doom Movie : Demons come from within
I'll admit, I'm not a gamer, I didnt know this was based off of a game when I went to see it in theaters, but I really enjoyed it. My dad (not a gamer either) really enjoyed it too. It was a nice action-y monster movie, which is something we always looked for when we went to the movies together.
My favorite scene from this movie was when it went into a first person mode
I thought that was one of the only good parts the movie was just way to slow
Same
Same. Definitely a first for the time. Perfectly executed.
Zyruss Villarreal made my eyes bleed, so damn cheesy, this movie gave me aids
The Overboss well that's a shame my man that you didn't like it
In case no-one has pointed it out, you kept calling the lead scientist 'McCormack' when his actual name is 'Carmack' (you can see it in at least one of the clips you used). It's a nod to John Carmack, one of the original developers of 'Doom' and head of ID Software, who own the 'Doom' trademark.
Yes you are absolutely right!! I wrote Carmack, and accidentally said Mcmormack during the recording :)
Ahhhh, I have actually never clocked that reference!
FilmComicsExplained you cannot accidentally said the wrong name if you had known the epic scale of this guy’s name in video game industry. Video cards makers took notes every time this John Carmack guy opens his mouth. He’s one of the most influential people in video gaming industry.
Kevin Betts Maybe you should have written the script for this video lol. You seem to know a good amount about it honestly.
The more you know 🌈
I LOVE this movie. Having the main characters be family instead of love Interests give this one of the BEST stories I’ve ever seen on film. Perfect choice.
This and the resident evil movies(owning the special limited edition steel books for every film but the last chapter) are guilty pleasures. I wish they stuck more to the source material for both series but they do offer entertaining watches. Hopefully we see a more faithful reboot in the future but this still works for me
Thomas G by faithful do you mean in the spirit of or copied?
doom123 s personally I would prefer seeing a more faithful adaptation for the first, second or even the rebooted game from 2016. The 3rd game was okay for what it was but I didn’t think they would try to adapt more elements from it before the other 2 games
You know what's interesting? George Romero was originally gonna make the RE movies with the source material. He had his assistant play the game while he watched and took notes. Imagine if he was the one to make the film?
This movie has the best FPS segment ever. A shame we'll never reach that kind of graphic fidelity though
Well hey, I'd have agreed with you two years ago, but Hardcore Henry was an entire movie that was made up of FPS segments. That shit was fucking fantastic, and way better than the Doom movie's Doom 3-style sequence.
Have you seen Hardcore Henry?
that movie is awsome on so many levels
Hardcore Henry was amazing. I went into not expecting much but was blown away near the end. Highly recommend.
Ya hardcore Henry is ok
I just wish they made a DooM adaptation with actual demons and not mutated people. Although I liked Pinky’s mutation as it looks like the actual pinky from DooM 3.
There is a newer movie but it’s so bad.. so so bad.
@@Admiral137 worse than this one
Underrated gem of a movie.
Hell yea one of my favorite movie next to jet Li's the ONE movie fucken nice
Hum. No... bunch of shit put together by greedy bastards... Not the same.
You HAVE to be kidding, right? I mean, everyone has their opinions and guilty pleasures, but this trash doesn't fall into either
of those categories. It just falls into the garbage bin, as we throw it away for being terrible.
masamune2984 lol Doom is not near as bad as other video game adaptation movies. The movie in my opinion is way too dark lighting wise and the character motivations abruptly shift in my opinion was the biggest flaws in the movie.
But you have to remember how bad movies like DOA, Super Mario, Warcraft, Assassin's Creed, Street Fighter, etc.
It's a good movie but not a good Doom movie.
The FPS act w/ Karl urban is one of my favorite scenes in any movie.
I actually enjoyed the movie, and I'm surprised that you didnt hate the movie either like with the happening lmao. But I do agree it should have kept the lore more accurate to the game but still was entertaining. R.I.P. "Kid"
R.I.P kid, you done good. You done did real good :)
Lone Stoner who's Kid?
Praetorian Rex , the newbie marine killed by Sarge.
@@Laharls_Therapist 0 likes in two years, perfect reponse to this comment.
Despite the bashing this movie gets I really liked it. I wasn’t well versed on Doom the game, so I just approached it like an action sci-fi flick. I was impressed by the performance The Rock turned in as well. I feel like he chose that role in an attempt to try and “stretch his legs” acting wise and not play just another Marty-Stu, like in his pass roles. And Karl Urban did a bang up job as well. Great video!
CaptAssassin yeah, most people I know that didn't play the game think the movie is pretty good but I was a huge fan of the Doom game and the movie was a huge let down for me.
Exactly. I loved this movie because it was just a fun, gun-em-down movie.
Something I like about how the soldiers are portrayed is that A: It's a huge deal when the first of them dies. Just because they're in the movie to get killed doesn't mean they should act like they're expecting it. B: There's about 30 minutes of yelling and objecting before they actually stop following orders.
Honestly man, i love and prefer your over 10 min videos. You fit so much info and it just seems like you're not in a rush like in your shorter vids. Keep up the great work.
Doom Annihilation: *Plays*
YT recommendations: ''Was DOOM 2005 really that bad?''
i kinda wish the movie came out later imagine how good it woulda been
Francisco Cardoso like the game?

Hehehe poofy shober just want bepis
The doge So we can have a gay boy trying to save kids to diddle whilst crying about Trump?
Best line: "I'm not supposed to die!!!" Sarge
I love this movie, that fps segment is legendary
Yeah I thought it was not bad but I have not seen it since I saw it when it 1st came out
FPS was great but the story had zero to do with the game and lore.... Basically, completely false.
Yes Peter, you are right there ! It just really pissed me off that they used a portal from Earth to Mars, instead of a space ship. That pissed me off the most. They did it to save in costs. A CGI scene that is well made of a spaceship approaching Mars orbit would alone have cost a few millions of dollars but it would have given the movie much more immersion. I hate when people save on parts that could have made a movie much more amazing. Of course, there were many more completely wrong things but this pissed me off the most.
Coolest part is when he shoots that thing in the arm it breaks and the axe he was holding slams into his face!
me too bro.
Great video! DOOM is one of my favorite cheezy films and I'm not even a little bit sorry about it. Awesome to see you exploring this idea. I love the kinds of videos you're doing since you've expanded from The Thing. It's nice to get a bite-sized reminder of the weird or scary thing I enjoyed from something. Rock on, man.
Love your channel. You cover my favorites from masterpieces like alien to my guilty pleasure doom, thank you very much!
Holy. Shit. I'm fucking surprised anyone covered doom. This has been my favorite movie for a very long time. I watch it way too often, and i see every flaw it has to offer. But it entertains me every single time. It keeps my attention from beginning to end. It's not an A+ movie by any means, but i love it. Plus Karl urban is my favorite actor.
myhellslife it’s coz you can smell what the Rock is cooking
I'm like that with starship troopers, watched it at least a few hundred times and it's still just as awesome as the first viewing when I was a kid
+Carlos Galindo Ha ha!
Omg this is one of my favorite movies, people shit on this because it's not like the games, but damn if it's not a good movie by itself.
I agree this is a great movie
No
The Rock yelling "I'm not supposed to die!" Beautiful moment.
This movie is underrated and good enough to be it's own thing.
Of the MANY channels like this, yours is DEFINITELY in the top three
I think what makes these videos so fantastic to listen to is ambient music/sounds you use in the background.
John 117: "I been through Hell"
DOOM GUY: "That's Cute John"
Hydrogen One it should be “doom guy: I am hells hell”
Doomslayer: the devil fears me
I mean like not literal hell but johns been through the craziest shit
@@pinhead2922 John rambo
Eh john-117 is better
Doom (2005): We're the worst Doom game to movie adaptation ever.
Doom Annihilation: That is adorable.
I prefer Doom Annihilation as it at least tried to stick to the source material. It just sucks that the one with the shitty script got the big budget while the actual Doom film had no money behind it at all.
Dude!! KILLED IT!! As always, great work man!!!
Huh. I remember this! The first time I watched this, I was hyped. It oddly enough gave off doom vibes/Alien vibes at the same time. Odd that the rock played in it, though. This movie has its pros and cons, but you did a wonderful job in the explanation, another great video. x)
I couldnt disagree with you more. I feel the rock did an amazing job as sarge.
Thats cool brother, we're all entitled to our opinions, and im glad you shared yours :)
"I'm not supposed to die!"
Favorite action horror movie line EVER
I really loved the behind the scenes that came with the dvd, I rewatched it numerous times and every time it was hell of a journey. This actually was one of the things that inspired me to become a digital artist and now 13 years later I'm working in the industry and hope to someday work on a project like Doom 2016 :D
I loved it! Great video!

Man... The way you explain the movie and its storyline makes it more interesting than the actual movie itself!
Too bad he's not wearing the actual DOOM suit and not having a chainsaw but anyway nice video.
Oj Arenas reaper does use a chainsaw during the first person part if the movie
Lordsaberbear I forget that part since it's a long time the last time I watched this
Praetor suit....
Last time I was this early, alien movies weren’t targeted for kids.
Cant lie, the transition from 3 person to first person in the shooter sequence was godly.
I just love Karl Urban's performance in this so much, the only reason that I watched this movie so many times.
great vid!
I liked the movie direction of infection route for Doom universe, hope one day a book or game having a mix of both
Karl Urban is in both the best Doom movie and the best Judge Dredd movie... That's awesome
"I need soldiers! I don't need anybody else, but *soldiers!"*
The story is so dope tho. I wish it did better so we can get more of the story

Good memories of my dad taking me to see this in the theaters while I was in middle school. Great times
What a coincidence....I just rewatched the movie the 30th time.
Hello darkness here's my flashlight
XD "The monsters get in your face, it's mouth gapes wide open. The lights go out, something shatters, and now the room is filled with spiders." That little segment was what got me to buy DOOM 3.

Underrated Horror/zombie movie of 2005, thanks for uploading!!
This movie seems to have been universally panned, but I loved it. Good jump-scares, unique method of 'monster' creation, plus Karl Urban and The Rock!

Hello FilmComicsExplained, thank you for this video. Though I've not played the games I really like the movie. Is it possible for you to cover 'The Intruders' 1990's film? I saw it when I was a child so I don't remember much, but it left quite the impression on me. I believe 'The Intruders' is a movie will interest you and others who may or may have not seen the movie. Again thank you for the video
Hey Elias! I'll add it to the list now, thanks mate :)
I absolutely love Doom, it's a guilty pleasure movie as I still today have the "Jaguar" gaming system with an original copy of Doom and it was just awesome to see a Doom film at all. I still remember the cheat codes for unlimited ammo and "god mode" lol basically invincibility 😁 fun fact is the Jag was the first 64bit gaming console before the Nintendo 64 :) Great vid as always Niyat and a nice trip down memory lane slaughtering demons in god mode 😄

Perhaps you could take a look at the alien monsters from the phoenix Incident film? That would be great. It's a found footage UFO monster movie from 2015. It's my favourite one so far because it features an air battle between the us Air force & my favourite Black Triangle UFO's. The aliens that pilot them are pretty terrifying.
sure mate! i havent seen that, but will add it to the list now and take a look, thanks :)
I guarantee if they had called it anything other than Doom it would have been better received....then when the BFG appeared everyone watching would have been like "Wait is that the....?" then when the 1st-person POV part happened everyone watching it would have been like "Wait a minute.....is this...it can't be...."
Yeah. With it being a surprise that this is doom. But what would they call it?

if the movie had stuck with the game vibe or even the Doom novels I think it could have been a better film. I still enjoy it but it could have done more
I remember that i found this movie on a market sale in the city, i liked it back then and after i saw the movie i bought doom 3 and played that. The jumpscares are amazing.

I like the way he briefs his Elite team on what a code red is.
Vin Diesel was originally offered the role of Reaper but turned it down. The Rock was then offered it next but chose to play Sarge. This movie really came close to being the first Vin Diesel/Rock movie.

The CGI Effects seems similar to RE Live-Action Films, Ah the Early 2000s, I missed it!
I will forever love this old but gold movie/game, childhood
Very nice video👌
Personally I think it'd be awesome to see a doom remake where yes you see human marines responding to a Mars distress signal but while they start encountering the demons have one soldier about to be killed by a hell knight when the doomslayer appears and kills the demon bare handed.
Hey, could you do an analysis on the creature at the end of "The Ritual"? Please and thank you, I love your vids. 😄
