    I have my first batch of eggs in my incubator following this tutorial. It's working great! Today is technically hatch day but could possibly be Tues. The farmers I got the eggs off od wasn't completely sure about hatch date. I recommend if anyone makes this incubator to use an adhesive such as E6000 along with the hot melt glue. My too piece for the light bulb goes got to hot and released the hot glue. I added E6000 to the hot glue and reset the bulb. No more trouble since!

    Thanks for the video.
    I made one for my children.
    Used broken rice for bedding.
    The light used was 25w ES miniature frosted candle style lamp.
    Had trouble getting to temp. so insulated the top with two sheets of kitchen paper. Got it up to temp. and no thermostat required. Ambient temperature is 27-30°C
    Hatched two healthy chicks.
    Have no access to a hygrometer so incubator humidity is unknown. Ambient humidity here is always 70 to 80%.
    How do I lower humidity inside the incubator?
    Second batch due 21/11/2020.

    • @YoucandothisChannel
      @YoucandothisChannel  3 года назад

      Wow Thats Great.....But Humidity 70% - 80% Too Much For Chicken Eggs In initial Days Of Incubation......Kept Open The Door For Decreasing Humidity There Is No Other Way OR Kept Less Water Inside The Incubator OR Remove Water Bowl From Incubator Till Humidity Reaches Normal.....All The Best

    • @douglascolman4501

      @@YoucandothisChannel
      Thanks for the reply,
      The humidity outside the incubator today is 81% according to the weather service.
      The first time I didn't put water inside until day 18.
      Most of the eggs had very small air sacks when candled so humidity must have been too high. I left the vent open after candling on day 7.
      The system stayed on temperature but the light was on 24/7 without a thermostat so with the door open it won't get up to temperature.
      The second batch was a total failure mainly due to lengthy power outages and the replacement lamp giving too much radiant heat.
      I'm going to try rotating the incubator 45° to try and get convection air currents happening inside and baffles over the replacement lamp ( 25w oven lamp) to stop radiant heat cooking the eggs. The temperature was still ok but some of the eggs were very hot to touch.
      Getting the humidity down inside the incubator is still a problem.
      I'll let you know if the changes help.
      Douglas.

      Where do you live at? In USA, you can walk up any farm and saying you want a baby chick, they probably cost up to $2. In some store they are selling $5-15. I have been in chicken backyard page on Facebook 🥲 but my husband said no no no 😂 he think chickens will attacked all kind of predators, and we have small children, too. So be sure checking your city’s law and your home association and your family, too. Before starting. Keep in mines, they are living things, they could get sick. Not all about cute and eating eggs. I still think they are so worth it 😄 may be one day we will have some. Good luck 😘😆

      You were supposed to check the egg a few days later after you put the egg in the incubator. After a few days in the incubator check the egg to see if it has life. Use a flashlight under the egg to see if it has life or the water trick. You don't just put an egg and don't check it at all.

    • @YoucandothisChannel
      @YoucandothisChannel  4 года назад

      You Mean Collect The Eggs From Hen Put It Under Incubator.....Then Yes....Stored The Eggs for 1-2 Days (In Any Box/Pot etc) Then Put It Inside Incubator....Don't Put The Eggs On The Same Day In Which Hen Lays The Egg (Wait 1-2 Days) Hatching Rate Is Very Low In First Day Eggs
      Points To Be Read Below
      1.Eggs Need Temperature Between 37°C-39°C to Hatch And Rotate Them atleast Twice a Day Till 18th Day
      2.Use Fresh (2-12 Days Old) Fertile Eggs (Pet Hen's Eggs/Backyard Chickens Egg)....Market/Shop Eggs Won't Hatch Because They Are Mostly Infertile Hence Didn't Hatch
      3.If Temperature More Than 41°C Eggs Will Spoil and If Chicks Starts Developing They May Died Inside The Eggs So Better To Maintain Temperature Between (37°C-39°C)
      Chicken Eggs Will Take 21 Days To Hatch Some Times Hatch Between 19-24 Days
      ALL THE BEST

      It Is Better To Follow Time But 1,2 Hours Less OR More Not a Problem At All.....We Rotates The Eggs Because Warmness (Temperature) Reach All Parts Of The Eggs And Hence Developing Chickens Born Healthy With Out Any Defects...........You Can Rotate Daily 3-4 Times But If You Forgot To Turn Didn't Cause Any Damage It's Absolutely Ok....Hope You Understand....Thank You

    • @YoucandothisChannel
      @YoucandothisChannel  Год назад

      The Meter We Used is Called Hygrometer (Temperature and Humidity Meter)....This is Just to Check How much Temperature and Humidity inside the Incubator It Doesn't Control Temperature......Better to Use
      W3001 Temperature Controller:- amzn.to/3NtGMjF
      Temperatuer Controller With Case:- amzn.to/3SPNrpp
      Set the Max Limit 39°C and Minimum 37°C ,Controller Will Control the Rest...All the Best
