- It's been awhile since I did an update on my backyard guppy farm, so here's a look. A lot of changes have taken place and a lot more guppies too.

I didn't know about grey-bodied koi without the tuxedo pattern. I like it better without the tuxedo. Mine is the tuxedo, but oh well. Your guppies, as is all your fish, are very well cared for. Amazing. I don't know how you do it.
I like the tuxedo better. I think because I havnt had it before. Thanks kaimuki, I get a lot of help from my wife.

I'm glad you noticed! I also think it's so cool how red it is in full sun. Hahaha, I know...too many favorites.
@@HCAqua I also like how thick the guppy grass and pearlweed was! That one dome of pearlweed at the end looks so cool! I got some widgeongrass collected from the wild, at one location, it was just as red as that hornwort, when I grow enough of it I'll send some your way!

Love your dumbo red mosaics and dragons. I breed some platinum dumbo mosaics and platinum red tail dumbo. Would love if had time to watch a few of my videos of my strains and drop any info you may have on improvements I can do. Love your set up too. I am going to do some outdoor ponds next summer to really get my numbers up. Great video.
Are you inclined to do selective breeding? Otherwise, just clean water and good feeding. If you are open to selective breeding, then select the females with black pectoral fins, and both sexes that have halfmoon tails.
@@HCAqua Thanks. I have been working on these 2 lines for a year and a half by selective breeding. I have locked in huge peck fins on my mosaics and both lines have been breeding true. Each line has huge half moon tails. Org trios came from Tamed waters. Thanks for replying.

I wish it were warm enough for me to keep guppies outside for more than a month
Only a month? Wow, where is that?
@@HCAqua illinois and it is mainly because of the shade where I live if I had more sun I could probably do it for much longer and it can be so crazy weather wise in theory with sun June July and August could work but night temps occasionally get really cold even in June and I would have to cover my tanks and things are now starting to get risky for guppies so it is more like a month and a half part of it also the really cold rain and hail even in mid summer that makes it a nightmare even for my native fish tank. I am setting up a thousand gallon pond that I am hoping is big enough that it will hold it's temps steady enough that I will be able to keep them from June to the end of August next year. Also since you grow taro I was wondering can it be grown indoors out of water like a normal house plant because I want some but would have to take it in in the winter.
All of your guppies are so beautiful Jesse, the quality is amazing. I have really only started getting into wanting to know about the different strains of guppies recently. I have always kept bettas. There's is so much to learn and I want to know more😁 Huy Nguyen sent me two pairs of albino Platinum guppies that are very nice, good clean lines blue iridescent fiinage, tails and long dorsals. I lost one female and I am just now getting fry from the other one (not the easiest guppies to breed or at least not for me 😂) Then I got a trio of gold Galaxy from Lucas, they were young and turns out they are all males ..so I have five male guppies, one Platinum female and one mutt female from Michaels fishroom. Not a good start 😂 but these males I have are truly beautiful I don't mind creating my own strain with them if I could get some females or some recommendations to breed them to...🤔

Sounds like you have some potential for a good cross right in your own fishroom. Maybe try and cross those platinum albinos with the gold galaxies.

I've been meaning to do this update for quite some time.
Your guppies are incredibly gorgeous! I’ve been wanting to get some of those duMbo red mosaics, though there’s something I’ve been wandering. Besides you I also watch Hawaii hobbyist and kaimuki backyard and they both seem to only feed tetra flakes and their guppies seem to grow so well. I see that you feed bbs which is good for fries so I’m just wandering if you get any different outcomes?
I also remember you used to feed daphnia. How was the results? Faster growth?
I feed flake as well. I just like to vary their diet with both bbs and flake.

I can't make my mind on what's the best guppies morph but I think I love your albino koi guppies the rest are also amazing
Those are one of my newer ones. I really hope they take off. But albinos are known to be a lot more fragile and fry eaters. Wish me luck!

Do you dechlorinate your water since tap water in Hawaii is safe to drink?
The water here is still chlorinated so yes I dechlorinate it with a garden hose RV filter.

I really really love the new look! It's amazing that you can maintain many tanks and different strains. They are healthy looking too!!!! You must have a good partner that maintains it! LOL Have to give props to that person! :D Btw, how warm do you think the temperature gets in those 2.5 and 5.5. glass aquariums. I think you mentioned that they only get the morning sun.
Yes, my wife does all the work on the guppy side, lol! I'm not sure how warm it gets. I'll have to take out my temperature guns and see sometime.
