Love the idea of showcasing craftsmen and artisans as well as cooks. The art of creating things has been rapidly disappearing for decades now and is worse than it’s ever been.

commenting to say i love the inclusion of craftspeople in this channel. food is a craft as much as putter-togethering. hope this side of things continues.
My mom live in England many years ago and brought a pair of scissors like that and i still have them. They've been sharpened many times. They are a nice weight, not light like the new ones. Craftsmanship is very important. Makers need to be celebrated more.
This is amazing, you’ve been my favourite new American food content creator. You show case the people and food of places so well and give a good sense of the spirit/culture behind the restaurants. Also being from the UK it’s crazy your at some place in Sheffield that makes scissors😂
I'll never cease to be amazed at the people you find, Robert. Cooks, chefs, craftspeople and more, and they're all so interesting and genuine, as are the stories they tell and that you, in turn, tell us.
I wish I had money to buy his scissors for my relative. They love sewing and general textile craft, they would love a pair of good scissors. The curse of the mass production is that we’re not only conditioned to expect low prices but also our salaries are negotiated around those low prices.
I know. I checked our their website and saw the beautiful stork embroidery scissors but unfortunately I'm not in the position where I can spend that kind of money on scissors I'd use infrequently
The products are designed to fail so you have to keep buying more. The initial low price factors on the fact that you have to keep buying more and more, that's why things that last cost more
This is a great start of being versatile from creators of food and cultures to discovering artisans, craftspeople and more. This craftsman gives me Robin Williams vibe and his work is clean.
I love craftspeople who learned their trade from people who learned their trade from people who learned their trade…from the people who invented the trade.
One of my prized possessions is a mother-of-pearl pocket knife owned by my great-grandfather, engraved silver plate with his initials and the date 1912. It was sold in the US, but the blades are labelled with a Sheffield maker. So very sharp 112 years after he bought it.
Your love for all forms of craftsmanship is so wonderful Thank you so much for giving a platform to individuals who pour so much of themselves into their trade
Hey I am from the UK and used to live in Sheffield. So glad to see you in the north and hope you have enjoyed the people, culture and food. I am not sure if you are still there but I would love to recommend Cornerstone at Dyson Place, for the best food and atmosphere. It is a mix of Italian and Yorkshire cooking - inspired by both of the chefs parents. Couldn’t recommend enough. Also make sure to have a Bakewell pudding before you leave! I love your videos and can’t wait to see what you do next!
Anyone who does any kind of crafting knows theres a massive difference between a $20 pair of titanium Fiskar scissors and a $100 pair of these handmade beauties. And it's nothing like a luxury brand car compared to an average car either...Those are just a waste of money. A $200k+ Lamborghini, Ferrari, McLaren, or even an Audi, Mercedes or BMW will constantly be in the shop after 20k miles. And an old $20k Ford Focus or Toyota Corolla will still be driving today with 500k+ miles and rarely needs more than an oil change.
Literally just commented on one of your videos the other day saying love from the UK…. Now I see that you are/were here?! Hope to see some more UK content man and hope you enjoy your stay

Ernest Wright is the company that he works with I believe. They have a variety of different scissors, I can attest to their quality - I live in Sheffield, we have a pair in my house from about 40 years ago still going strong. Google 'Ernest Wright UK' for their own site - looking like the 6 inch general purpose ones on this video.
I thought he said putter as in golf, so I was waiting for him to start talking par, birdies n eagles. LOL! 😅 Love the individual/one off food establishments + now these old style n traditional expertise. 👌
Hey man! What you doing in Sheffield!? As someone from the Sheffield (UK) I've seen loads of comments from people saying 'oh I walk past there all the time' it's crazy to write this myself.... Have a great trip man, if you want any recommended spots write back! :)
Made in England meant "it will last a lifetime". I still have a pair of scissors made in Sheffield. In perfect condition. My grandmother gave them to me. I'm 68. My sons will use them after they realize that the Chinese junk they buy is useless. Regards from Argentina.
Your video is awesome, I am a shears person, I am also a Master Barber..I love your style, do you make the shears, (scissors) is what I am looking for..
Scissors are super cool tbh, nowhere in my little brain do I think I ever would have had the idea to stick two knives together and make that into something useful

It was my first time being the only white person at a job, and it was a great experience gaining perspective and appreciation for the local community and black and trini culture.
I have precisely one pair of hand-fitted, sorry, hand-puttered-togethered scissors, and they are the most precise scissors I own. Even the fancy laser-cut sheet metal shears are not as precise or smooth.

For sure. I couldn’t really highlight Sheffield without discussing the history of craftsman there.
Yea I wonder why

As a non native English speaker, „putter togetherer“ is such an amazing expression to me.☺️
The channel is called Eating With Robert. Go on, Rob, eat the scissors.
This was a really cool look at a niche industry!
The 'I am' at the end of every sentence is so Sheffield I love it
I wish the world was still like this and everything was still made with this level of care and precision.
As a fine scissor and shear sharpener for the last 20 years. I see what you see and feel what you feel. Pretty cool superpower.

Their 6.5” general purpose scissors are only £66, if you’re someone who uses scissors all day then why wouldn’t you get some nice ones?
Plenty of people. Thousands of people spend hundreds of pounds on wine and cognac.
