Inga Simning breaks Guinness World Record for Most Pull Ups in One Minute (female)

- June 21, 2022. Thirty nine of the 42 attempted pull ups were counted for this Guinness record, beating the previous record by 3. In this video, Inga also attempted to create a new Guinness Record for "Most Consecutive Pull Ups" by completing another 7 pull ups after the one-minute timer, for a total of 49 consecutive pull ups, however this attempt was unfortunately disqualified due to the three pull ups not fully clearing the bar making the whole set no longer "continouous".
Holy crap. I was expecting to see crossfit style swinging pull ups. But what I saw completely blew my mind. This would be an elite result for any male in prime physical shape.
Thank you so much!
She does a little kipping with her feet.
@@life-pm5xl minimal
Most people can’t even do 1 this is insane
@@bush3126 thank you.
Clean. No click bait. No swing. No kip. Just awesome.
Thank you. I really tried to keep my form as clean as possible. It's tough when you're going for speed and reps.
There is a little kip, not 100% clean, but it still very hard, perfect using of tendon reflex
Yeah, when speed is involved, it's so hard not to kip just out of sheer momentum. Huge props. This is insane.
@@aIkaIi thank you.
There's a kip, when you swing your foot back and swing it forward. That's a kip, but she still did great with the little kip. Honestly, I don't even know how to kip. Lol
I have to be honest: I wasn't expecting this level of greatness.
Actually perfect pull-ups, AND A LOT OF THEM.
CONGRATULATIONS!
Your words made my day. Thank you so much.
They’re not remotely perfect wtf are you talking about lmao
@@nicehatmrdog5265 Jealous much?
@@marcd1981 no not at all, can no one give any criticism without being jealous? I workout a ton, i know what a pull up should look like. You obviously don't or you'd be agreeing with me. These aren't perfect. She's using some momentum and kicking her chin up over the bar to further reduce her already short ROM as she isn't pulling the bar anywhere near her chest. Her back is maybe doing 1/3 of the work.
Thank you for not kipping your way to a world record and calling them pull-ups.
That was an amazing effort! Congrats!
Thank you so much!
@@ingasimning6615 but you do kip here. The weight shift starts to increase into a kip around rep 13. Why not kip all the way and a bit more? reps would be slower but you could do the 60 seconds at the same pace.
Great effort but that is 100% kipping. Just not with as much amplitude.
Nothing wrong with a Kip.
Expected kipping. Was pleasantly surprised.
You’re a beast!
Thank you very much.
Congratulations! (And understand that 99.9% of the complainers here can’t to 5 clean pull-ups themselves).

Lol i can
I don't know you but congrats!!! I'm in awe of the hard work you must've put in to beat this record. I'm an 18 year old girl working on increasing my consecutive pull-ups. I can do about 9 right now. Thirty nine is isane!! You're a beast :))
Thank you so much for your kind comment. Sounds like you've got a great start. There aren't a lot of women out there who can do 9 pull ups. If you don't own a doorframe bar, I recommend buying one. I found that I increased my number the fastest by doing a single max set of pull ups every day. And by max set, I mean until failure. Every single day. And also, focus on fast, explosive pull ups (but don't fling your bar off your doorframe!). Might not be best for form, but it teaches your muscles to power you up quickly with less effort. Best of luck to you!!!
@@ingasimning6615 Thank you so much for your helpful tips!! I'm planning on getting a doorframe bar soon. :)
9 is more than most men. That might even be more than most men who go to the gym, regularly, too.

That was amazing to watch, and makes me feel better about you casually completing the your impossible pull up challenge while talking to the camera (I happened upon that vid first). Congratulations on the one minute record! 🏆 If you try to most consecutive pull ups record again, you’ll achieve it!
Thank you. When I posted this video, I believed that I didn't get the "most consecutive" record because of those 3 disqualified pull ups. But when I finally got a response to my inquiry from Guinness months later, they stated that the current record was 371 and I didn't beat it. That was the current MEN'S record at the time of my attempt (it was since then been doubled!!!). But there was no (and still is no) women's record. When I initially applied, they accepted my application setting the goal number as 45 consecutive pull ups. I tried to explain this to them but they are very difficult to communicate with and said they wouldn't accept anything less than 300. That number is so far out of my reach!!! So I've given up. I'm very happy with one world record!
@@ingasimning6615 How are 700 pull ups even possible? Do they spend hours on the bar just resting? Wouldn't that amount of time on the bar require insane grip strength?
@@chuckyfox9284 yes. I think that's exactly it. I haven't seen a video of the current record holder, but I saw one of a man doing about 300. This man had truly ungodly grip strength and would do sets of 8 pull ups, then hang on ONE arm at a time for 15-30 seconds at a time while shaking out the other arm, somehow this is "resting" for him. He was on that bar for nearly an hour. I can't even phantom that level of grip strength.
@@ingasimning6615 That is insane! Your pull up record impresses me just as much tho! I have never seen anyone even do half the amount pull ups you do. That is male or female. I have been training consistently for years and would consider myself fairly strong, and I get about 20 pull ups when I max out.
@@chuckyfox9284 thank you. 20 is an amazing number of pull ups that you can definitely be proud of!

Those were strict movement pull ups. Excellent job. I never been big on the hole chin over the bar chin up. But i know the work it took to accomplish that record so all respect is due!
Thank you so much. I recently started working on chest-to-bar. Man that's like a whole new set of muscles used for the top of the movement!
@@ingasimning6615 I feel like I'm taking crazy pills here. This are not strict pull ups. You go from hollow to arched back most of the reps. Not that much, but it happens. Momentum is built there. This makes me wonder why not do it more and better, like with the legs together? if its a competition use everything you can
Guinness criteria are that you cannot flex at the hips or have more than a small bend at the knees. Your body should remain as straight as possible throughout. They would certainly not allow full on kipping. I do get into a rhythm in the middle portion of my set where I hyperextend my shoulders and arch my thorax forward a little. I found that if I didn't do this, my body often started swinging (not productively) on the bar so much I'd have to stop entirely so that my body could hang straight. Maybe it's a tiny kip but not enough to be disqualified by Guinness.
@@ingasimning6615 ok I understand. You are inside the criteria 100%
@@stephendemaer I had to go back and reread the thread to understand what you were talking about. And then I died laughing.

Miss would you be able to make a indeph video of your training regimen for this
Oh I would love to, but I'm not sure I have the time or technical skills to do this well.
I found that the most helpful thing for me was doing a single max set of pull ups TO FAILURE, every single day. I made huge gains doing this. I also did sets TO FAILURE with added weights. Just doing sets to fatigue was not enough to see gains.
After about 3 months of this method, I came across Adam Sandel's pull up workout and followed his for several more months. I got very good at weighted pull ups with this method. www.adamsandel.com/training-tips/how-i-train-for-the-guinness-world-record-in-pull-ups/
Wow. Just wow. Tons of respect.

ABSOLUTELY AWESOME 👍 YOU ARE MY HERO!!
In the past, I have tried all forms of pull-up sets to increase my number. But, a recurring Golfer's Elbow injury (Medial Epicondilytis) keeps me from improving my overall number.
Anyway, YOU'RE SIMPLY AWESOME 👍😁
Thank you so much. I'm so sorry about your elbow issues. It's really hard to do any kind of bar or weight exercise with a bad elbow!
Dang that's wild. So clean too. Making me want to practice my pull up game
You should!!! It's so rewarding, if you do a max set every day you'll definitely see gains. And you can impress everyone at the gym!

Thank you so much. I'm jealous of your 🌞. It's very 🥶 here today
Wow! Super impressive. As someone who aspires to do high rep pull ups I have a question regarding form, does Guinness have criteria regarding scapular movement? Ie can they stay depressed the entire time or is complete scapula elevation(dead hang) required, and if not, why let your scapula out of their depressed/retracted position?
That's a very insightful question. Guinness has no criteria regarding scapular movement. Just that your elbows need to lock out. I feel like I generate the greatest force at the lowest part of my pull ups. I purposely hyperextend my shoulders before I start each pull up so that I can really drive them up.
Interesting, most of the 40+ pullers seem to use your technique, thus creating even more of a compound movement, I find that keeping mine retracted shortens the movement considerably, but it completely eliminates any of the synergy/momentum created by the initial movement of the scapula, something I found I had to do to protect my shoulders after having surgery on both.
@@stephendowney7315 I fully agree. And protecting your shoulders should be a priority for you. Mine have had no problem handling the extra range of motion and excessive forces, but if I ever developed shoulder problems, this would be the first movement to reevaluate!
Yoooooo! Way to go!!!!!
Thank you!
that's still 49 in my book. holy cow that's amazing!
Thanks Jeff, I appreciate that.
Amazing! And great technique. I max out at 20, need to train more. Great inspiration. I think you could get a few more, I hope your record holds for a long time
20 is really great! You've got to be very strong and fit to do 20. But I bet you're right that you could do more. Hell, I could probably do more too, but at some point the training becomes less fun and it's not worth torturing yourself over. I too hope this record holds a while, because I don't want to have to train this hard again!

Yeah these were legit, was expecting kipping (and even then, it's still difficult to get that many) but the reps were clean. Hopefully the consecutive record is within reach, just gotta clean up a few reps and it's there. Super impressive. Inspired to train pull-ups tonight :)
Thank you. Glad to hear you're feeling inspired to train pull ups! Best!
First and foremost, congrats on shattering the previous G world record and setting a new one 💐. I have a question, I've only recently started pulling myself up, but right now I'm not even 1% of where you are. If you could give me some guidance, that would be tremendously appreciated because I truly want to get to your level of greatness. Right now, I can perform seven clean pull-ups with full range of motion in a single set without taking rest days in between. I'll find your advise to be very beneficial. Last but not least, I watch your videos to get motivated before my training seshs, you're truly inspirational 💪🏻.
Thank you, that's so great to hear. It sounds like you're doing very well. When you're doing a set of 7, are you going to failure? Or are you stopping when your form starts to fall apart. Make sure your last pull up is truly your last one, it's okay if it's slow and ugly and you have to kick at the end. You're still getting that extra arm/back stimulus that you need to progress. You can do one or even two sets like this every day as long as you're not getting sore or feeling injured.
How long have you been training pull ups for and how many days a week?
Guru (Teacher in Sanskrit), firstly, please accept my humble obeisances 🙏🏼, I've been training for a month and do it every day. I do 3 sets of 7 pullups for a total of 21 pullups. Rest time between sets is 2-3 minutes or whenever I feel ready to do another set, I try to maintain it between 2 and 3 minutes. So far, with God's grace, I haven't had any muscle soreness. My only issue is that I can't perform another pull up after 7 no matter how hard I try.
@@captain_yuri is 7 the number you started at one month ago or have you seen an increase in your max set after a month of training?
@@ingasimning6615 no, i wasn't able to do 1 properly when i started, in a week's time my no. rose upto 3 and gradually it has come to 7. But, now i feel that i can't go beyond 7.
@@captain_yuri you had a ton of progress in one month and it makes sense that your progress would slow down at this point. But I doubt you're done gaining. It's strange to me that you can hit 7 for every set of your 3 sets. I'd think you'd hit 7 on your first set and then a bit less on each of the next two. I would keep doing 2 or 3 failure sets a day for at least two more weeks and expect to hit 8 by then. But gains will slow down and be harder to come by. Good luck!
Insane!
Thanks!
