At this point, This is the first I have seen dealing with any veneer... I have Singer Treadle machine, (1890). The cabinet has veneer on the top. The veneer is in really bad shape. I suppose that I could just remove the veneer, and refinish the top. I'm hoping that perhaps I can just somehow "fix" what I have. Possibly replace the entire top of the cabinet with veneer? I am not a "wood-worker", I really don't know what I'm doing. Being retired, I can not afford to have someone else do it. I am left with Me. :) Help??
I know you tend to focus on the domestic machines ...but do you ever delve into the "industrials" .. I have a German made singer "103" and it seems as though it is the forgotten model. Very little info out the about them. Mine came in a treadle "tailors" table ....with large flywheel and a 220 volt (eurospec) club ch motor.
Not an expert here, but wouldn't it be easier and with better results to cut the edges of the space to make a vertical rectangle and then cut an accurate piece of the new veneer? I realize this is an "experiment" but whatever.
Instead of trace the crack cut a rectangle peace will be much more easier?
great tutorial ... many thanks.

Titebond is a wood glue that you will be able to find in your local hardware store. I like titebond 3 (the green one).

Yes, I have focused mostly on Domestic grade machines. There is a video on a recent industrial I overhauled. Brother DB1
