As a 12 year old in 1976, I hoped we would have a professional woman's league one day. I believe a WBL was started as I wrote a paper about it, but it didn't last. It was the WPBL which lasted from 1978 to 1981.
She will be there through her Junior year and I wouldn't be surprised if she stays. She will be playing with her close friend Azzi Fudd, that will be a show like no other. If they win this year it could easily be four in a row. She is loyal to her teammates and to her coach and she probably puts some value into getting her degree. Who knows, a lot can and will happen. Enjoy her the next couple of years and Azzi too.
UConn will be fine without her and there are obstacles in the way of her going to the WNBA but you're asking Paige to literally pass on probably $200k per year to "stay loyal"...as if going pro is disloyal. It's not. Lastly, its clear she's an intelligent human, she doesn't "need" to fall back on a degree and there are contingencies built into contracts that pay for tuition/board if the pros dont work out. Her talent is on another level.

Zia Cooke from South Carolina is the truth. She plays like that. Stanford and Arizona got lucky this year especially Stanford. In NCAA woman’s basketball it’s more of an ‘experiences tops all’ deal so I wasn’t surprised when Arizona won. But I’m confident next year it’s gonna be South Carolina(Cooke and Beal) vs UCONN(Paige and fudd).

Always go pro when the chance pops up, even if you have to play over seas. Your athletic career is finite and the money you earn can pay for a degree/university experience later on if you really want to go that route. As far are learning the game more and marketing exposure you could get in school goes, I still believe you'll get more of that from joining a pro team and you can play in several leagues when it comes to the wnba because of how short their season are currently.
Any woman that can make basketball exciting again should be considered a legacy. Last time they ever talked about a woman in basketball was Brittany Griner and haven’t heard about her since she entered the WNBA. Paige sounds like someone that can take over that league and bring it back to light again and actually make women’s basketball watchable again.
Sue Bird was a GREAT interview. I was hanging on every word with a smile. If she is one of the spokes persons I think the WNBA has a chance. Paige is a joy to watch and more people have an interest in women's Basketball. My only concern is the woke movement and cancel culture. Paige is great!! Need to mention Caitlin Clark, University of Iowa, too though. Her range is unlimited, can score in so many ways, averages more points and assists, just an incredible leader. Two of the best in one class, both freshmen, and are actually friends. Women’s basketball is in great shape.
Added advice she gave to Paige. For research purposes, watch My Days of Mercy, Ammonite and The Half Of It. When one of your teammates is looking for love make sure she is a 10 and 10 player (pts and reb) and that she is "flexible"

There was no March Madness for the women this year. NCAA didn't want the MM Logo to be on the game floors that the women played on. See. the NCAA bigshots want higher salaries for themselves and didn't want to share it with collegiate women players. That's why they don't want women to get paid for endorsements.

If we lower eligibility right now, It would be disadvantageous to the young players to miss out on teams because spots are so limited. Just because your great at something doesn’t mean you should skip your college years! Many careers are ruined by people who are dumb and think they know. She will be there through her Junior year and I wouldn't be surprised if she stays. She will be playing with her close friend Azzi Fudd, that will be a show like no other. If they win this year it could easily be four in a row. She is loyal to her teammates and to her coach and she probably puts some value into getting her degree. Who knows, a lot can and will happen. Enjoy her the next couple of years and Azzi too.
UConn will be fine without her and there are obstacles in the way of her going to the WNBA but you're asking Paige to literally pass on probably $200k per year to "stay loyal"...as if going pro is disloyal. It's not. Lastly, its clear she's an intelligent human, she doesn't "need" to fall back on a degree and there are contingencies built into contracts that pay for tuition/board if the pros dont work out. Her talent is on another level.

In NCAA woman’s basketball it’s more of an ‘experiences tops all’ deal so I wasn’t surprised when Arizona won. But I’m confident next year it’s gonna be South Carolina(Cooke and Beal) vs UCONN(Paige and fudd).

Always go pro when the chance pops up, even if you have to play over seas. Your athletic career is finite and the money you earn can pay for a degree/university experience later on if you really want to go that route. As far are learning the game more and marketing exposure you could get in school goes, I still believe you'll get more of that from joining a pro team and you can play in several leagues when it comes to the wnba because of how short their season are currently.

Sue Bird was a GREAT interview. I was hanging on every word with a smile. If she is one of the spokes persons I think the WNBA has a chance. Paige is a joy to watch and more people have an interest in women's Basketball. My only concern is the woke movement and cancel culture. I know other soccer dads who won't watch women's soccer because of Megan Rapinoe. Its different have a daughter athlete then having a son athlete. We need better female role models like Sue Bird.

There was no March Madness for the women this year. NCAA didn't want the MM Logo to be on the game floors that the women played on. See. the NCAA bigshots want higher salaries for themselves and didn't want to share it with collegiate women players. That's why they don't want women to get paid for endorsements.

If we lower eligibility right now, It would be disadvantageous to the young players to miss out on teams because spots are so limited. Paige should definitely return to Uconn and earn a college degree unless she is desperately poor. She is very young and will be a more rounded person if she completes her education plus you never know when a career ending injury could occur. Americans tend to measure success only in dollars and cents. There is so much more that determines ones quality of life. Hang in there Paige is my advice.
