Who ARE these persons who complain bc a video is too long? I watch some other content creators who actually teach and apparently they receive the same complaints. I don't understand. Each video has a time stamp. If you don't have the "time" then simply move along to a less thorough content creator. There are many out there; theirs is more of a " show and tell" format. I have sewn for over sixty years. Unlike Karina I didn't have a mentor. So, through Nation's videos I receive the benefit of her relative who was a professional seamstress ( a win) plus Marine's own research and experience ( another win). I have learned much from Karina and can't count the number of times that I have recommended her channel. Thank you Karina for sharing so much with us.

I really can't understand why people feel the need to write a complaint! Why! You can tell the length of a video before you start watching - so if you don't like long ones - don't watch. They seem long enough to cover the subject matter and short enough to keep our attention. Now, regarding the perceived waste of interfacing and fabric, your methods have produced a plethora of awesome apparel. That speaks for itself. Now my last "point" I spend a lot of time watching RUclips. I can't begin to count the number of times that I have recommended your channel. Your videos aren’t too long at all. If anything, they are not long enough 😂! I noticed that you did it in one of your videos and only block fuse now. Love the crisp and professional result. Pressing as you go is important too. Taking your time, hand basting and doing things properly are worth it ❤
Block-fusing 'just makes sense'. As far as I'm concerned, it should be Standard Practice 🥇. With the use of the tracing wheel & tracing paper, and the "modified" technique, I don't see any evidence of excess waste. I Love it and WILL begin using this in my sewing. Appreciate your time on this topic
Wow, when you compared the pattern pieces with the traditionally interfaced facings it was perfectly clear that it’s impossible to get the correct shape by this method.

You are not a shortcut sewer, you are not like these pattern company tutorials which are trying to sell you something as well as show basics. This is where we learn beyond basics. You and the Closet Historian have helped me create a couture sewn (basically) wardrobe that I love and am proud of. This time is invaluable and the time you have spent to bringing this to us is absolutely priceless. Time is all we have as humans really and where we put our attention is very important. Some people need to see and do to learn. I am one. Your format is the best for sewing the way i would like ro sew. I need longer format and repetition and you are an excellent teacher for my learning style. And I know for a fact many many others feel that way. You can see in every comment section how helpful and how much value you provide. There's really none to compare to your tutorials unless youre actually watching a paid class. I’ve made a few jackets and coats and have found block fusing really improves the fit and look, especially with Boucle knits. A knit interfacing allows some ‘give’ but also provides enough structure to prevent sag. I especially appreciated your tips for applying interfacing along edges. Thanks for a great video.
Your tutorials are so valuable, Katrina, thanks once again! We spend so much money on patterns and beautiful fabrics. It really pays to learn a lot of these tips and tricks ASAP. Block fusing is something I’ve learnt from you early on, and that’s from you being repetitive with your tips and habits. The more we see as normal practice, the more we do.
I began sewing when there was no fusible interfacing and was taught to cut the pieces separately. They were always wonky too! I just carried on the same with fusible interfacings with the same results. Brilliant idea to fuse first then cut as one.

Hand basting. I discovered this on my own many years ago. It means you can machine sew with no struggle. I cringe when I watch people sew awkward areas jammed with pins.

I watched Sandra Betzina do block fusing and I’ve done it that way for years. However, I’ve also used Casey from Pattern Scout’s method of sewing three sides of a facing and interfacing wrong sides together at 1/8”, flipping it out and ironing before sewing it to the main garment. It’s so neat on the finished garment.
You’re like me. Im old. I learned from Nancy Zieman, Shirley Adams and Sandra Betzina many years ago. Also Singer tailoring books and Threads Magazine. Karina is doing great work like them.
Your makes always reflect the extra care you take with the details. No, not fast sewing but as I tell students - it will make the difference between something you enjoy wearing and something that just sits in the closet. Keep the wonderful videos coming.

Good advice based on good practice. Interfacing, fusible especially, can be expensive, but the way you demonstrated it shows hot to do it with minimal loss.
Absolutely one of the best ideas I have ever heard! I am wearing a blouse with facing issues, because I used the traditional method. Now I have a great technique to get better results!

Needing to understand the _why_ of a thing is very important to me. I think thats why i gravitate toward your instructional videos. I don’t always watch them straight away, i need to wait until I have enough time. But i just about always come back to them, then find them again down the track when i actually need the technique. Until I found your channel (during covid) I had never heard of block fusing. Thank you for this in-depth video I had no idea that they would shrink so much, I knew it happens (thanks again to you) but seeing it visually on that V Neck facing really hit it home. 🌸🐨🌸
I have been using your block fusing methods for quite a while and it really makes a big difference. At first I thought it would waste fabric and interfacing, but when using the traditional method of cutting separately, you end up with bits that aren’t usable and it takes more time. I love your longer videos and very much appreciate that you provide the 'why' of things - it's how I *want* to learn. I had a recent bag-making project go slightly wonky during the interfacing process (fortunately not disastrously) so, the second time I made that bag, I tried block fusing. As you say, it really is a game changer. The result is much more accurate and it's easier too. So... It feel like you are verbalising my thoughts about the struggle with distorted mismatched pieces even when you feel like have done your very best work. As a self taught sewist I simply followed the pattern instructions, but you have opened my eyes to “sewing to get the results I want”, not generally assuming that the instructions will do that. Thank you! I love all your attention to detail. I like to take my time when I sew and get every detail as perfect as I can (without making myself crazy. Haha). I sew partly because I can fit my body how I like to and partly because I like to create beautiful quality garments. Most of my clothing is casual or fairly casual office attire. Nothing fancy like evening wear however I still appreciate very well made garments and live to wear them. Thanks for all that you share. You are an incredible inspiration and extremely generous ❤

This is a great video! I've been watching you since 2019. I will always block fuse! I have a Love Notions Vivace top undone since it was introduced, because l didn't block fuse the facing, and the facing is distorted and doesn't fit the neckline. I always recommend your channel to sewists that are have issues with their sewing. Thank you for all your videos.

I watched Sandra Betzina do block fusing and I’ve done it that way for years. However, I’ve also used Casey from Pattern Scout’s method of sewing three sides of a facing and interfacing wrong sides together at 1/8”, flipping it out and ironing before sewing it to the main garment. It’s so neat on the finished garment.
You’re like me. Im old. I learned from Nancy Zieman, Shirley Adams and Sandra Betzina many years ago. Also Singer tailoring books and Threads Magazine. Karina is doing great work like them.
Your makes always reflect the extra care you take with the details. No, not fast sewing but as I tell students - it will make the difference between something you enjoy wearing and something that just sits in the closet. Keep the wonderful videos coming.

Good advice based on good practice. Interfacing, fusible especially, can be expensive, but the way you demonstrated it shows hot to do it with minimal loss.

I have been using your block fusing methods for quite a while and it really makes a big difference. At first I thought it would waste fabric and interfacing, but when using the traditional method of cutting separately, you end up with bits that aren’t usable and it takes more time. Thanks for another great techniques video, Karina!
When I first learned about it years ago, I thought it would be too thick but I was wrong. it eliminates distortion.
I love your longer videos and very much appreciate that you provide the 'why' of things - it's how I *want* to learn. I had a recent bag-making project go slightly wonky during the interfacing process (fortunately not disastrously) so, the second time I made that bag, I tried block fusing. As you say, it really is a game changer. The result is much more accurate and it's easier too. So... I'm definitely a convert and your video has cemented my resolve 💪 And given me great ways of tackling various interfacing tasks. Thank you!

It feel like you are verbalising my thoughts about the struggle with distorted mismatched pieces even when you feel like have done your very best work. As a self taught sewist I simply followed the pattern instructions, but you have opened my eyes to “sewing to get the results I want”, not generally assuming that the instructions will do that. Thank you! I love all your attention to detail. I like to take my time when I sew and get every detail as perfect as I can (without making myself crazy. Haha). I sew partly because I can fit my body how I like to and partly because I like to create beautiful quality garments. Most of my clothing is casual or fairly casual office attire. Nothing fancy like evening wear however I still appreciate very well made garments and live to wear them. Thanks for all that you share. You are an incredible inspiration and extremely generous ❤

This is a great video! I've been watching you since 2019. I will always block fuse! I have a Love Notions Vivace top undone since it was introduced, because l didn't block fuse the facing, and the facing is distorted and doesn't fit the neckline. I always recommend your channel to sewists that are have issues with their sewing. Thank you for all your videos.
