She reminds me of Diana, very soft spoken, deep and sensitive but with a spark of fun.

I was only 9 yrs old when the song I Only Want To Be With You came out. But from the first time I heard it it just resonated with me. It wasn't until yrs later I found out who sung it and I just fell in love with Dusty. The black and white video on the net is amazing to see, her style and mannerisms just so wonderful to watch. It draws a tear from me when I hear her songs and think she's gone from this world.

Lovely woman. Amazing voice. It's a terrible shame that she passed away from cancer.

Not only was she one of the best singers ever, and a beautiful, warm, intelligent, socially conscious, down-to-earth person. She was also a bold, individualistic dresser with a style all her own; she loved bling, texture, bright colors, and always looked great. I loved the interviews with the people close to her.

Dusty looks good here, very sunny in her yellow outfit, and, as always, very well-spoken. I am an American, but am semi-familiar with British television. And I know Dusty was huge in the U.K., her presence extending beyond rock & roll to include being the host (or "presenter," as you Brits call them) of a few television variety shows, as well the most frequent guest host of Rediffusion's "Ready Steady Go!" series.

I thought she was very famous in u.s.a and in australia too

I would say Dusty was to British television what Ed Sullivan and Andy Williams were to American television, and, like Williams, not only a talented singer, but a very good TV personality, clearly a woman who knew her way around a TV studio and how to play to the cameras.. She is still doing that here in this clip.

Frans Jansen: Thanks for posting this. Finally! Some interviewer asked Dusty a question which allowed her to talk about music for a few minutes. Which is what her real fans want to hear her talk about. Of course, the girl had to ask her about her eye makeup, a big waste of time. I know Dusty must have been exhausted talking about that over and over. I wish she wouldn't have done the makeup anyway as it covered up her beautiful green/hazel eyes too much. Loved it that Dusty took a shot back at the typical mean spirited interviewers she had to contend with over the years, the no talent jealous losers.

I miss Dusty, and wish I could have watched her British TV shows. Of course Dusty spent a fair amount of time in the States from the 1960s through mid-80s, before returning "home" to her native England. But If anyone out there (including Vicki Wickham, should you ever read this) knows if any of Dusty's series' are or will be available on DVD, please let me know.

gymnastics: Here's 2 of the best Dusty DVDs, both available at Amazon. "Once Upon a Time: 1964-1979" and "Dusty Springfield: Live at The BBC" which features the best performances from all of her BBC TV series. It's been available since 2007. Both are 11 out of 10 for me!

interesting subject matter, especially in retrospect.
music in the 80s did seem to blend genres, you'd have rock music with synthesizers, reggae music fused with pop. genres and motives were all accepted and blended together to the point where you can now say you like 80's music as it's own genre!

I agree with you. Dusty was the real deal. Madonna's a poser. Give me Dusty, Petula, Lesley Gore, and Ronnie Spector any day of the week! Even Cyndi Lauper, from the same era as Madonna, is a more genuine person than Madonna.
I don't agree with Chrissie Hynde's politics. But I like her music. And Annie Lennox is a superb singer.
