Happy New Year Stavros! The SAIC Maxus (上汽大通) is a very popular brand here in China. The problem with EVs is cold weather, which decrease the batterie's ability to discharge, combined with the need to use heating, will greatly reduce the range.
My boss , Richard grab that electric van there’s a pallet at Wakefield that needs taking to Penrith and on the way back call in at Liverpool to collect ! This is a real world scenario. 😂
I forgot to mention there was a identical van next to it for £72k I’m assuming it was a higher capacity realistically who has that kind of money for a van
Their talking the Piss at that money, wouldn’t even look at it at that price. People want their head tested paying that sort of money for an electric van with such a limited amount of mileage available.
Good video, you should do more electric car reviews as well. Your Tesla video was so popular because it was genuine and that is what's needed for the genuine consumer. Cheeeeeers.
Perfect for last mile and multi drop work but that's it. We frequently run our 3.5t vans 600 - 800 miles a day, time critical work. Diesel is the only solution until hydrogen becomes viable.
why not have a little petrol motor in the front space just for the heater/cooler. You may not need to use it all the time but can save a lot on your range.
Im so glad to own an EV in a place where we have lots of reliable chargers. But I'm curious at what % did you start charging, it looks like it was in the 70% already. A 35kwh pack will get you around 10-20kwh max charging speed...
"Feeling good about the emissions emitted elsewhere out of town" is so accurate. 😂😂 I don't think electric is the way forward...either hydrogen or hybrid like the Toyotas. That said, this Maxus electric van was faster to 100 km/h than my first two cars😅
Turn it off then restart Windows, I mean, the EV! Now, if you don’t need your battery’s range in -4°C weather, feel free to turn on the heater! A bit like using a PC… Yikes!
Hybrid vans would be much better small 4 cylinder simple reliable diesel with a small electric motor in the back pushing it along in citys then good highway mpg tanks to the diesel efficiency.
Would love to see Stavros do a review of the new MG4 which seems to be a game changer in terms of price, really putting it up to the established brands.
100% my next car is going to be an MG3, really cheap for a new car, maybe not the best equipped or the most powerful but it should be reliable for two years
I am studying at Mechanical Engineering department of Semarang's State Polytechnic and loads of lads and teachers are always saying EV, EV, EV, and EV and so on. The fact is that it toxicating other departments to force Indonesia to EV but, hello, how's the chargings caught up? What's the power plants are using to produce electricity? What's gonna do with people with low money income)? because, let's be honest, in Southeast Asia except Singapore, there are lots of low income and unemployment. But, those ridiculous lads are toxicated by Western's government and it's public figure, which let's be honest that they are rich and some of them are super rich. Meanwhile me, I prefer diesel because it is as cheap as electric for longer range and simplicity of maintenance and also because I like diesels. And I think, I am the only person in my Polytechnic that deepheartedly love Diesel Engines because others are loathing the diesels and adoring EVs which also hate me because I love diesels, not EV 😂
With EV vehicles the issue will be when everyone is forced to buy them when infrastructure is not capable in handling so many EV vehicles. I have already seen it where people queuing in line waiting for charge port to be free it takes time for EV to charge up so sitting around for 20 mins for a charge point to be free is not ideal especially if you are fifth in the line. California is great example where they are pushing EVs last summer they told people with EVs not to charge their cars because the power grid couldn't handle it. Also the issue of cobalt mining in Africa which are used in batteries where young kids are digging up cobalt and is terrible for their health. Of course cobalt is used in all lithium batteries so even mobile and laptops have it but EV cars needs a lot more of it. We are long way before everyone can drive one.
An absolutely hilarious video….Pat looks like “what have I gotten myself into letting Stavros drive my van”…loved it! Do any EV designers live in a climate where it gets well below zero, with feet of snow, and freezing rain? These charge port doors are in terrible locations, and they look very fragile. My ICE van lives outdoors, and during winter is covered with snow and ice. The only thing clearing frozen stuff off the front grill is the heat of the engine…I can see the charge door in that van being a big problem in winter. The one on the Rivian has to be the worst designed one I have seen so far, in the way it operates, and how flimsy it looks. Recessed door handles are also a problem. I often have to give mine a good tug to get in after freezing rain. I can see EV handles easily braking, if you can even get them to pop out of their recess. Looking forward to more excellent content in 2023. Happy new year Stavros!
A 35kwh battery will best serve as a local vehicle, 50kw will offer more usability and range. Next 3 years will see major development in technology. If the battery gets balanced every 3 years it will improve efficiency and extend battery life.
China special. 35kWh? Bigger than a car, made to load and carry things and it has smaller battery pack than an electric city car like the Honda e. Am i missing something?
A company I work for as a contractor ordered one of these to run around a large dock complex.. unfortunately the downtime wasn’t enough to charge the battery and Nissans solution was to buy another one so when one’s being used the other is working! Lol. 🤡 world!
Gonna wait another 6 to 10 years until the world gets is shite together and hydrogen is also a runner for the aul campervan. Ain't nobody got time for that gowling!
Electric vans are great for local deliveries based on a single driver working one shift a day from a company yard with serious infrastructure, this is why the big boys like Amazon are going that way. Unfortunately, they are not currently a good fit for multi-shift or heavy/long-distance work where many other vans do their job. Guess that leaves a pretty big gap at the moment. Will hydrogen happen, time will tell. The logistics industry has some serious challenges ahead.
Happy New year Stavros. Great informative video. Great craic lads. All the best for 2023
Thanks, happy new year 👍

Happy New Year Stavros!!
It was one of your the most entertaining videos. Happy new year Stavros, take care!
My local dealership is selling lwb Fiat Ducato ev’s for £67k I thought it was a mistake but apparently not
I forgot to mention there was a identical van next to it for £72k I’m assuming it was a higher capacity realistically who has that kind of money for a van
What an absolute bargain! Lol.
Their talking the Piss at that money, wouldn’t even look at it at that price. People want their head tested paying that sort of money for an electric van with such a limited amount of mileage available.
@@davidellis279 I guess so as they are still unsold I don’t know how much an equivalent diesel one costs
HIGHLY ENTERAINING Brillant content

Speaking from experience about these vans - fun to drive, but not so fun having the constant worry of not having enough range to complete your round!
Great video. Had a loan of electric car and the hardship of charging totally put me off to. Plus the same the range just seem to drop and drop 😒
Happy New Year Stavros, great video
The horse was a sign to go from fossil fuels back to riding horses 😂😂
It's green, fun and no beeping sounds when you're not properly anchored in!
You haven’t convinced me yet stavros !!
Happy new year 👍
happy new year stavros brilliant video
Enjoyed the video chap.. excellent 👌👍...The electric recharge set up needs looked at again... disaster..lol
Agree with the title. They are not the future
does the weather affect? for example in some country its reach more than 50 degrees or no matter hot or cold weather! thank you.
Viewed 1-2-23 from USA The issue I have is CHARGING !!! All the more reasons for me, stay away from electric vehicles.
I love the horse !!! :D Thanks for the video !

How many hours a day?
I enjoy watching this🇰🇪 happy new year Stavros
happy new year Stavros , grate video about EV van

Happy New Year & good luck with the channel in 2023 👍👍

Scania makes hybrid lorries so there is no reason why it can't be done.
To quote a car guy from Britain,
"How hard can it be?"
What about the tyres

Same with BYD

You should charge it from 20% to 60% for faster speeds but then you have Even more Range anxiety and no AC and you freeze to death
Stavros is determined to prove electric cars won't work.......I've done 18k km in 12 months never had an issue

Don't put the heating on or the lights on. You be knackered in a EV.
funny video, but you know you shouldnt charge evs up to more than 80%, after that it slows down as to not damage the battery i guess
An absolutely hilarious video….Pat looks like “what have I gotten myself into letting Stavros drive my van”…loved it!

I saw an ev go through a puddle on the road & it tried to come to a halt like a forklift.dangerous.

You should have used an EasyGo charger. ESB are shite

The charger companies need to make Charing simple like with fossil fuel
Easier said than done. Speaking from experience.
Hilarious !!...
If gonna make them need too make them with a 1000 mile range and charging point's in car parks and in side streets
Yes
Van going wrong, a loose horse and annoying beeping brilliant 😂
Put a petrol engine in it and it'll work properly.
Hi Stavros, like the Tesla I feel your pain!!!.
into Newcastle West in an EV van ...the new movie
A company I work for as a contractor ordered one of these to run around a large dock complex.. unfortunately the downtime wasn’t enough to charge the battery and Nissans solution was to buy another one so when one’s being used the other is working! Lol. 🤡 world!
No E Motors for me.
If charging EVs is this bad now, imagine how it appalling will be from 2035 when the EU government forces everyone to use EVs!
Gonna wait another 6 to 10 years until the world gets is shite together and hydrogen is also a runner for the aul campervan. Ain't nobody got time for that gowling!

I learned aome age, fully electric driving sucks thx for the confermation!
I don't like those vans rip off Nissan electric van and the ford transit van
EV..😂😂😂
Hybrids are the current peak. Electric might be ok when it is hydrogen and the infrastructure to refill said hydrogen at all petrol stations is there
Scrap
Would love to be a ev van driver getting paid for standing around
You won't be paid for standing around if you drive for conways. Very bad crowd to work for.
Zero kvalite
Is that a top gear reference?
Crap ELECTRIC
Out of all the UK nations the Irish say it the BEST.... BOLLOCKS!! Hehehe.
EVs are joke, more expensive electricity in future, more pollution, more expensive vehicles itself
That's simply not true on all accounts. You couldn't be more wrong.
dont seem that great tbh
When you had to wait few minutes instead of hours!!!, for the Tesla, you should have done the Irish lottery!!
Don't give up the day job!
