By far the best RUclips video on options. Right pace, kept in simple, good example with how to manually work the P & L & no annoying lead-in or background music.
@vivaldigeneration While I explain the american option (allowing early exercise), the valuation models and issues I will discuss are based on european options. In reality, there are only very few instances when you would choose to exercise early. Probably 99% of the time they are effectively the same.
First of, your videos are the best! Thank you for doing what you do!!! Mr Bracker, if upon expiration you do make a profit from a call that you bought, how do you make money from it? I have learned (or I think I have learned) that options traders make money by trading just the options, and rarely do they actually exercise the right of buying the underlying stock. Can you make money from an expired contract that didn't expire worthless? without buying the underlying stock? Please enlighten, and thanks again!
+Met V. Typically, you can just sell your option prior to expiration at the current market price rather than exercise. I've always done this when I trade options.
